Most people report that they hate the Unjury soup. Maybe you can make a deal with someone who has it and wants to get rid of it.

You are so right. They all make the entire experience so much more enjoyable. -
3 days postop sleeve and HUNGRY
Oregondaisy replied to hungrygirl's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Absolutely! Your stomach is stapled off and you could develop a leak if you ate anything at this point. then you would need a feeding tube. -
I didn't know where else to put this. I am just curious about this. They are always saying the sleeve is the first part of DS. What is DS anyway? I know what the letters stand for, but I don't even know what that surgery involves. I just know that WASa said they have an problem because that surgery causes issues with people smelling bad.:001_tt2: I never cared enough about this to find out, but now I am curious. What is the difference between DS and RNY?
-
Thanks Mac. My daughter had the RNY 3 years ago, so I was really wondering what the difference was.
-
I would be really upset too. Hope everything is okay with your mom and you can get your surgery in Oct. instead of Dec.
-
oh, okay. I thought she said DF was having his surgery on the 10th.

You're getting your sleeve in just a few days! Congratulations! Boy, this is starting to look like a Dr. Aceves board. He is wonderful and my whole experience at the hospital and in Mexicali was too. I am really excited that we are getting so many new people here at sleeve talk. -

Welcome to sleeve talk! Congratulations on your great weight loss! I am confused though. Are you saying that it took 7 years to get your surgery? -
Finally after an 11 month process.

I can't imagine that my pcp would prescribe that for me. He is someone that thinks we should take as little medicine as possible. Does it effect the liver? I have to be careful of what meds I take because of my liver. -

Having trouble transitioning into maintenance

Staying at the exact same weight ever day is difficult. Did you eat anything salty? I am having trouble being only 5 lbs from my goal. It's so easy to snatch a bite of this or that and then be disappointed on the scale. There is junk food at work, at my daughters when I babysit, etc. I need to stick to the no snacking rule, even if it's only a couple of bites if I ever want this last 5 off. -
i can't believe i STILL have so many questions!

Well for one thing you are eating carbs, not protein. Protein will make the hunger go away. Carbs cause cravings and hunger. -

Are you sure it's real hunger and not head hunger. I have been snacking myself today, but it was total head hunger. I am never really hungry anymore -
Wish I knew the answer to that one. My hair is falling out too. I take everything everyone tells me to take, and I know I am getting the necessary Protein. I am not one that has trouble eating or drinking my Protein shakes. Nobody seems to have the answer to why it falls out or what makes it stop. I think it just has to run it's course.

I know we have a place to tell our story, but I thought we could add little tid bits in the girls room so we could get to know each other better. I grew up in Chicago, and if you ever saw that movie "my big fat Greek wedding" that is like the family I grew up with. I think one of the main reasons I moved to Oregon was to get away from my Greek family. My h.s. sweetheart and I got married when I was 19 and moved here when I was 21. He wanted to live near the ocean and we knew Calif. was expensive and crowded. We picked this town because it's the biggest town on the Oregon coast. We got divorced shortly after I moved here, and he moved to Portland. We remain good friends. I married my 2nd husband at the age of 25 and had a daughter at 28 and a son at 31. My husband had an on the job accident when they were 3 and 6 and was killed instantly.I never remarried. I raised them by myself and they have turned out to be good kids. My daughter is an RN and my son is an electrician. My daughter had my 1st grandson and he was a year in April. My son just became a dad and his baby girl is 2 weeks old. Life is good!

I haven't gained anything back that I lost during the post op diet and I have lost 5 more. Are you snacking a lot or not exercising? -
Prospective band to sleeve
Oregondaisy replied to Bornagainbabe's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am doing great. I love never being hungry. My weight is dropping slowly, but I expected that. I have always been a slow loser. If I wanted to lose faster, I need to exercise more. I do exercise regularly, but not like a madwoman like I did when I first got the band. My life is just busier now. -

I am sorry to hear you're having a difficult time. I went alone and the only problem I had was boredom. Thank goodness Dr. Campos loaned me his lap top. -
I didn't bother telling very many people. It's way more fun to just get thinner and keep it to myself. I don't have the patience for negativity.

I only really get that full feeling when I eat solid protein like steak or pork chops. I tend not eat those foods just because I don't like that feeling.
