Help! Sugar free questions - juice, dehydration, etc
Oregondaisy replied to Finally!'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
All I can tell you is too much sugar will make you feel nauseous. I am not sure how much sugar causes this. I thought it was a lactose intolerance issue but it's not. It's a sugar issue. Sugar makes me dizzy, gives me gas, makes my heart race, and I break out in a cold sweat. They say we don't dump with this surgery, but my daughter had RNY and she said what I describe is just like dumping. Too much sugar dumping into the blood stream causes these issues. There is a 50% less sugar apple juice that I drank post op and I had no problems with it. It's Motts brand for children. -

That's exactly how I was. When I was cleared to drink, I couldn't believe I could drink whatever they brought me with no trouble at all. -
3 days postop sleeve and HUNGRY
Oregondaisy replied to hungrygirl's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
It is definitely a miserable feeling. I would rather eat mushy. I have lost all the weight I gained when my band was unfilled. My clothes are too big for me. I don't want to go out and buy new clothes. I am going to learn to eat solids slowly over the next few months. I am still learning. It's still very hard for me to judge. -
Anyone want to meet in the chat room?
Oregondaisy replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had to download a program when the chat room first opened. That solved my problem. That is not like Alex to not answer you. I wonder if either Elisabeth or WASa could pull a response out of him. -

Dr. Daniel Huacuz - Tiajuana, Mexico
Oregondaisy replied to adeebaby's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I have heard about him, but it's really different reading about it from someone who has personally gone through what you had to deal with. Thank you so much for posting your story. You have saved lives! -

Many people are low on it even if they aren't MO, I am finding out. A lot of people don't take vitamins or sit in the sun. -
I've been sleeved...coming home tomorrow!
Oregondaisy replied to TennJenn's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You're lucky you live where you live because I think Vegas would be the perfect place to have it. Lots to do, lots of hotels, usually good airfare, etc. We'll just have to skip those buffets. -

I think it's so cool that you are getting to meet so many of our sleeved friends! We definitely need to plan a reunion sometime in the future. I want to meet so many of you! -

If it makes you feel any better, I have very little desire to eat solids. I don't like that full feeling after only a few bites. There are so many things I like that are easier to eat, I would rather ease into solids over the next few months. -

That's cool Jacqui that you're going to get to have lipo. It's really easy to have that feeling of losing control, like you are talking about. We all drilled it into our heads before WLS that we HAVE to keep dieting. -

Wow, I didn't know it would take 6 months. I hope the warm liquid does the trick. Do you have the problem when you have Soup? That's warm. I hope you get it all figured out. I know it can't be easy cause I see my friend going through this too.(((Susan))) -
Help please? liquid coming up at night
Oregondaisy replied to tinaj's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
When I started having problems, I had my band unfilled. Things went fine for a couple of months. Then, it started back up again. food I had eaten at dinner time around 5pm was coming up in the middle of the night again. I would wake up coughing and choking and have to run to the bathroom. I decided that the band was not a good idea for me anymore. I worried about what it was doing inside where I could not see. I was tired of the cost of esophagrams just to tell me I needed to be unfilled. I was already unfilled and having problems. I went to Dr. Alberto Aceves because he is very experienced in band to sleeve revisions. I was worried that if I didn't get that band out of there, it would damage my stomach to the point that I could not have a revision surgery. Life is so much easier with the sleeve. I have a small stomach now, not some piece of silicone wrapped around my stomach. I felt like that band was choking the life out of my stomach. -

I had my band removed for this very same reason. I was fine for 2 years. Everything was fine in the daytime, but at night it was another story. I called my banded friend and she told me I had to sleep sitting up and put a bowl next to the bed to throw up in the middle of the night. This was AFTER I had my fill removed. I knew I could not live like that, and worried about the band damaging my stomach and esophagus. I had my band removed and got the revision surgery to a sleeve. Now food does not get stuck, and I can take my medications without fear of them coming back up. Life is so much better with the sleeve. I worry about all those people out there who are choosing to live like this in fear of gaining their weight back. -
After lapband removal, when do you feel "normal" again?
Oregondaisy replied to SUEB55's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I just hope people who are considering the band will come in here and read. -
It's really too bad that more people don't read this section of the board and consider the sleeve. There are more and more people with band complications and try to live with it when the sleeve works just like a band is "supposed" to. There is no comparison to living with the sleeve and living with the band.

Bad carbs are evil. I can't wait to get my Vit.D test back. If my vit. D is off, it could explain why I have cravings for sweets even when I cut them out. -
Having trouble transitioning into maintenance
Oregondaisy replied to MacMadame's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am completely compulsive about weighing and I don't have any intention of stopping. The only time I don't weigh every day is when I am being extremely bad. That hasn't happened in a long time. It drove me nuts when I was in AZ and I was weighing on a different scale. -
I am glad you got some answers! I can't imagine Dr. Campos 44 lbs lighter. I was there 2 months ago, and I think he said his surgery was a month before that. I think he had lost 20 lbs by then. Its's so nice that you got to meet up with some of our fellow sleeve sisters! Hope all goes well for DF tomorrow!

3 days postop sleeve and HUNGRY
Oregondaisy replied to hungrygirl's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
It does take awhile for the hunger to subside. Perhaps you should try a different Protein drink. You will be amazed later on when that hungry feeling goes away and you just don't feel hungry. -
i am really doing this
Oregondaisy replied to ALISIA's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hope your insurance gives you an answer soon. It's really great that you have insurance that covers WLS. My insurance booklet says "No WLS covered for any reason"
