Yes eating with the sleeve is definitely a learning experience. I am getting better at it finally.
-
You're online, can you meet me in the chat room for a few min?
-
Yes, maybe he is used to using is own lap top at work?

I remember seeing them somewhere and it seemed that the sugar alcohol was pretty high. Last night at support group my band surgeon said sugar alcohol is pretty much the same as sugar and really discouraged us from eating it. I just mainly hate the way it gives me horrible gas. I have enough gas already.

I was back in less than a week and could have gone back sooner. -

To Revisioners: Updates on Progress Please...
Oregondaisy replied to Alexa77's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I am sure I would do a lot better if it were not for the treats. It's hard not to eat them when I don't have that much more to lose. I've been doing better lately. I just need to stay away from people that tempt me and eat junk food all the time. It doesn't mattter that I am not hungry, if you put sweets in front of me, it's very hard to resist. -
Protein, Protein, How to get in all of my protein...
Oregondaisy replied to debestmath's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My nutritionist said that it's easier for the body to absorb more protein if it's the first meal of the day because after sleeping, we require more protein than the rest of the day. I have no idea if he is right, but I just thought I would throw that out there. -
My doctor just called and he does not want me to take it . I have liver problems and he said I am already on a lot of medications. I am afraid if I really pushed it, he would take away my sleep meds and I need that more. I am in a pickle. I do feel much better when I make sure and get plenty of cardio in. I do weight training but I think the cardio does more for those endorphins.

Excited to join the VSG club

That's a really good question. I was just at my support group tonight and I felt so sorry for all those people who were so excited to that they were going to have band surgery. I wanted to tell them they were all making a big mistake, but unfortunately, the ins. companies are paying for bands these days and not sleeves. That is definitely going to change. -
Come in and chat with me!

Okay chatters where are you tonight? I have the window open and I am waiting for the door bell to ring! -
They were all really surprised. They had a lot of questions. My dr. is always there answering questions. He said he has done some sleeves now, and he wishes more ins. companies would cover them because it's a very good surgery. He said most ins. companies are still considering it experimental. He said so far, he has only had one patient who got it covered by ins.

Beginning the Journey.. .& looking for Arizona docs
Oregondaisy replied to Cherie_B's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There are an awful lot of us who have gone to Mexicali to Dr. Aceves. It's a 4 hour drive from Phoenix and he is a fabulous dr. and it's a wonderful hospital. You will save a lot of money and have a very experienced sleeve doctor if you do decide to choose him. I know there is a Dr. Blackstone in Scottsdale AZ but I have no idea what she charges or if she does sleeves. I know she is a band doctor though. -
Need some support.....
Oregondaisy replied to PurricanChick's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You might want to try Narcotics Annon. meetings or Overeaters Annon meetings. I know people who have had great success with those programs and there is nothing better than a program that is free for extra support. We certainly don't judge people here, and we are all very supportive of each other. Some of us are in the chat room in the evenings. It's great to talk in real time and I hope you will join us. Most of us are on Pacific time but you can let us know what time is good for you in your time zone if that does not work out for you. Welcome to our board. You have come to the right place! -

I am thrilled to have that band sitting on my dresser and not wrapped around my stomach. Life is so much better with the sleeve. I wish I had known about the sleeve from the very beginning. I feel so bad for people who are so excited to be getting ready to have band surgery. I feel like they don't know they are having a ticking time bomb installed inside of them. -
Maybe I'll stop at Trader Joes when I go to the airport on Thurs. My flight does not leave until 4 pm so I will have plenty of time to fool around in "the big city"

Protein, Calories and Carbs.
Oregondaisy replied to wayupnorth's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
A lot of people use fit day or the dailyplate to calculate their protein carbs and calories. -
I found some samples in the medicine cabinet for the 37.5 Efexor extended release from the last time I tried it. I am going to call my dr. and ask that he write the letter to ins. that I tried all the others they wanted me to try first. If not, WasA told me she got some from Canada for a really good price . If I can take them, I may have to go that route.

Oregondaisy replied to wayupnorth's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Soy slender soy milk has 3 grams of carbs. I don't drink milk. I eat Protein such as eggs, tuna, chicken salad, meat and cheese. I drink a Protein Drink made with Water that has 2 grams of carbs. -

Disappointment has set in
Oregondaisy replied to wayupnorth's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had my carbs much lower during my post op diet. I am not sure if that would help. -
I don't know where I could pick them up :thumbup1: You could always leave them with Dr. Campos or Lucy with my name on them. I will be there in Oct but not until the 2nd week in Oct.

Mexico vs. US surgery
Oregondaisy replied to Lynn'sTwins's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Dr. Aceves has never had a leak and does 3 leak tests. I am going back to him to have my post op tests. I have no desire to go to my pcp regarding anything related to the sleeve. I could always go back to my band dr. if I had some sort of emergency, but I honestly can't imagine what that would be. Dr. Aceves makes sure you don't have complications before you leave the hospital.
