The Gastric Sleeve Chat Room Is Always Open!
Oregondaisy replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I messaged Alex and he said they took the chat program out because it was costing a lot to maintain on their server, and he could not justify spending the money because it was hardly being used. I wrote back and told him if he ever decides to bring it back , to please but the button where we click clearly visible, and the reason it wasn't being used, was because nobody was using it. If people want to live chat, message Alex and tell him you want it back. I think if he saw people really wanted it, he would bring it back. -
It's really hard if they pick the wrong restaurant. I can't eat a whole cheese burger. I can eat a lot of salad. Someone else also said salad is a good choice if you're cleared by your doc to eat raw veggies. I always say something like "I've had this stomach bug and I am over it now but I still don't feel like eating much." I have had guys get sort of mad if they buy me dinner and I can't eat it. I try to steer them towards a place where I know there is something on the menu that will work for me. I don't usually wait too long before I tell because it's hard to get around if they keep trying to feed us. If they are worth having as a potential partner, they won't care. Every single guy I've told has said they are glad I got it bc they wouldn't date an overweight woman. between band and sleeve, I have been dealing with this issue for about 9 years.

Welcome to the BariatricPal Singles Forum!
Oregondaisy replied to Alex Brecher's topic in Singles Forum
I've been online dating for about 12 years now. I've met all of my last few bfs online. the first one lasted 3 years, the next one lasted a year, the next one lasted 3 years and my latest one just broke up lasted a year. I swore I was going to give myself a break and not look online for awhile. Of course I could not resist, so last night I opened up my okcupid profile. There's one guy that's quite a bit younger than me. He's 8 years younger. He lives in my town so that's appealing. I live in a rural area so it's hard to find people. There are 2 more that have written to me that live 2 hours away. They are more my age. I can't help it. guys just make life more fun. What a great idea Alex! This topic comes up frequently in the powder room. We start to lose weight, and we want to date. I don't give much hope to either of the ones that live far away even if it's only 2 hours. I really want someone I can see all the time, and it's been my experience that long distance doesn't work. -
A couple of weeks, usually. Some people don't have an easy recovery and it may be longer for them. As soon as you are comfortable and can find a position that he isn't squashing your tummy.

I really don't care a whole lot either, but some clothes would look better if I had something to fill up the baggy area from not having boobs. I tried on a top today that I really liked but it just kept falling open cause I had nothing to hold it up. The neckline kept drooping.

Funny, I just saw them today at JC Penny and at Walmart. I bought 3 at walmart. I think they were 5.97

Thank you so much. What a lesson I've learned. When you know something isn't right, get another opinion soon.

I have been having trouble with sciatica for a good 10 years. It was really getting worse with the left leg going numb all the time. My orthopedic doctor really felt I needed surgery once I had a new MRI. I have degenerated discs and he said he could go in and clean it all out and find whatever was pressing on my nerve causing all this left leg pain. So I had surgery, and he said my disc was so degenerated, he took it out. I can't even believe that. I caught a staff infection in the hospital and became septic. I did a round of 2 weeks of IV antibiotics out patient. Then I thought it was all healed and the infection was gone so I went out of town.. I ended up having to go to the ER in a strange town because it became infected again as soon as I was off the antibiotics. This time I was put on some really strong antibiotics for 3 weeks that really was hell to take. It caused extreme diarrhea. So finally my infection is gone but my leg pain is so much worse since surgery. I'm sorry I ever had surgery . I don't think I'll be able to work out the way I used to and I walk like an old lady. The only good thing that has happened is the hospital is going to accept what my insurance paid, so I don't have to pay my 30%. That's good news. They are the ones that caused my horrible infection. It could have been worse. At least it wasn't antibiotic resistant.

Weight Gained Since Having Gastric Sleeve Surgery
Oregondaisy replied to sleeve 4 me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am so disgusted with myself. I've been so depressed since I had an emergency surgery and found out my bones had an infection from my back surgery in Nov. I finally weighed myself today, and decided it's time to get back to business. I've gained back 9 lbs and none of my clothes fit me. I really hate that if I eat anything extra, I gain weight. The sleeve does make it easier, but I wish it helped more with the bad stuff that is so easy to eat. -
I ended up having another emergency surgery when I went to an infectious disease specialist, 2 hours away. It turns out that the infection was never gone and went into my bones. I wasn't in her office 5 min. before she said I needed to be admitted through the emergency room. I was in the hospital 5 days The surgeon had to clean out all the infection and scrape away all the tissue that was basically rotten from being infected since November.I have a picc line and I am doing antibiotic infusions at home now. I was supposed to do this for 6 weeks, which will be March 26th. This surgeon will be my new doctor. I will never go back to my original surgeon who treated my infection like it was a pimple, and refused to give me an MRI when I asked for one, telling him it's not normal to have an infection for 3 months. So, I have to go to the hospital and ask for the disc of my MRI from my back and neck, to take it to the new surgeon. I wish he wasn't 2 hours from home, but I am really confident with this doctor.

Those bras do look really comfortable. Where do you get the other brand that is only $12?
-
My boobs are the same way. I hate wearing bras because I really don't need one. Clothes look better when I wear one, but it's hard to find one small enough in the cup that has any material on the sides.

The Gastric Sleeve Chat Room Is Always Open!
Oregondaisy replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I will message Alex and find out if we still have a chat room available. They redid the format around here, and everything was different. I don't see a button for a chat room anymore. -
How are things going for those are are at (or near) goal?
Oregondaisy replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I would never have any trouble maintaining if I lived in my own little bubble. It's socializing that brings on snacking. I have friends that eat goodies all the time. One of my bffs today told me she weighs 117 lbs. This is a woman that bakes Cookies and brownies all the time. She eats so much junk plus her meals and it's hard for me to be around her. It's hard to say no to home made cookies. This means making changes for life, if you want to maintain. 5:2 is intermittent fasting. Google the "Fast diet" It is not recommended for anyone under one year out. -

I am back from Eugene where I saw the infection specialist. 3 more weeks shooting antibiotics into my arm and I will be done. I so look forward to that day. Cathy from the UK is just so sweet. She had flowers sent to my home and surprised me. What a sweetheart! Did I tell you how my foot slipped of the brake and on to the gas and I drove into my house? It's a mess. I've been getting estimates. I have a rental car . My car had 2500 worth in damages and about 5,000 damage to the house. Just what I need. I feel like a complete idiot Weigh wise I am doing fine. holding at 140. I can't wait to get back to gym . I have only gained 5 lbs but my clothes fit like I've gained 20. -
I need advice from a nurse or medical person (not WLS related)

I caught a staph infection in the hospital when I had back surgery and became septic. I did a round of 2 weeks of IV antibiotics out patient. Then I thought my incision was all healed and the infection was gone so I went out of town.. I ended up having to go to the ER in a strange town because it became infected again as soon as I was off the antibiotics. This time I was put on some really strong antibiotics for 3 weeks that really was hell to take. It caused extreme diarrhea. I was off of them for 5 days and now the infection came back. I'm on another antibiotic now but I really have my doubts that it won't come back when I finish them. I don't know what to do. My surgeon tried packing the incision after he drained it and I went in every day to have the packing changed. This was while I was on antibiotics the 2nd time. It finally closed enough that he couldn't do that but he said it wouldn't come back because it healed from the inside. -

Thank You Kim. I hope so too. I am currently trying to take legal action against my first surgeon for not sending me for an MRI when I asked for one, and he let it get this bad. The mal practice attorney said I can't bc I don't have a permanent injury. We shall see. I have to have an echo cardiogram tomorrow bc being septic can damage the heart. I used to work for an attorney and she wants to take it on. Time will tell. -
Barrett's Esophagus and Gastric Sleeve Weight Loss Surgery
Oregondaisy replied to Gemini216's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
They don't recommend the sleeve to people who have reflux or gerd because when they do the sleeve, the stomach is not aware that 80% of it has been removed and it keeps making acid for a whole stomach. I have to take an acid blocker, almost 5 years post op. I tried to get off of it, but I had way too many acid problems. If your gerd can't be controlled with an acid blocker, you should not get the sleeve. I do know several people who have had to revise to RNY (gastric bypass) because of acid problems. -
I don't know how to cope with this extreme depression
Oregondaisy replied to onelove51510's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Do you have a regular doctor that you can go to? It sounds like you need an anti depressant . Also, exercise helps with depression. It's really true that endorphins will make people feel good. I am really depressed too. I had back surgery and it got infected and it took 3 months to get into an infection specialist. I had to have another surgery to clean out the infection and now I can't exercise. -

I can't imagine what would cause this if she hasn't been sleeved yet. If she has already had her surgery, she should talk to her surgeon. It sounds like dumping syndrome, but I can't imagine a Protein shake causing it. -
Netflix what are you watching? Which series do you love!?
Oregondaisy replied to woo woo's topic in The Lounge
Cow Girl Jane, You have given me a lot to look for. A lot of the ones you're explaining, I am interested in seeing. Were they all on Netflix? I absolutely loved Parenthood. I wish they had all the seasons on there. A lot of the things people mentioned that they like, were things I've not heard of. It would help if people could something that says what it's about. I agree with Wentworth. I had to turn on close caption cause of the accents, but it's as good as Orange is the Next Black. Maybe that's how they got the idea for it. Wentworth is just the Australian version of it. Let's this thread going! I hate searching through Netflix and not knowing what to pick. I like to binge watch too and not have to keep picking stuff. -

Oregondaisy replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am not sure if the infection is clearing up. I am shooting antibiotics into the line in my arm 3 times a day, so I hope so. I see the infection doctor next week and maybe I will find out. They have been drawing labs weekly, and I am sure the information must be getting faxed to her. I like documentaries, I don't like science fiction. I loved Parenthood which is about 4 adult kids, their kids, and the parents are Craig T. Nelson and Bonnie Bedilia. I hope they get the rest of the seasons on Netflix cause when it ended, they left a lot of stuff hanging. I need to google to find out how many seasons there are. I know people were talking recently that they were sad that the show was ending. that's what made me interested in it. I don't like British stuff cause I can never understand what they are saying. I like comedy and drama, as long as it's in the real world. A lot of people are talking about that show Once Upon a Time. It's all storybook characters. I would not like that. -
Sudden onset of heartburn at 15 months?
Oregondaisy replied to LumpySpacePrincess's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
Our stomachs do not understand that at least 80% of our stomachs were removed., and continues to make acid as if it were a whole stomach. Most sleevers are on an acid blocker. Do you have a costco there? You can get the generic of an acid blocker for pretty cheap. If you have insurance, just tell your doctor to prescribe and acid blocker. There are some sleevers who have revised to a gastric bypass because their acid problems were really bad and could not be controlled by medicine.
