Sounds like a lot of people had the same problem with the band that I did. I never had trouble with anything in the daytime, but in the middle of the night, it was another story. I am so glad not to be throwing up in the middle of the night.

Hope the scrambled egg goes down well. I've heard others say they have had trouble with eggs. I am sure you must be so excited to eat something new!

On OH, I read a thread that said that having ghrelin decreased causes memory loss. Do you think there is any truth to that? Since being sleeved, I keep losing things. It's like I have no memory left at all where I put things. WasA? Elizabeth? Anyone else know if this could possibly be true?

When self-pay who pays for complications?
Oregondaisy replied to brittu's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thank goodness Dr. Aceves has never had a leak. I know complications are very expensive, but I trusted him so much, I wasn't worried about complications. -
I think it's important to keep track of both. I keep the carbs down because carbs make me crave more carbs. Dr. Aceves likes us to eat around 800 calories per day.

Something I read on that other board
Oregondaisy replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was hungry after surgery when I was on Clear liquids. Once I moved to full liquids, it was gone. Now I can go hours and hours and not feel hungry. -
Insurance coverage for revision?
Oregondaisy replied to Bandedbut's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
It just amazes me that insurance companies are willing to pay for banding at all with all the problems people are having. I feel bad for you, but I wanted that band out of me bad enough that I self paid. It was the best money I could have spent. -
Awesome NSV - Must Share With You Guys!!
Oregondaisy replied to *susan*'s topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I shopped a lot in the thrift stores. I have found clothes that were like brand new for $2. I wore clothes that were huge on me until I lost about 40 lbs and they were literally falling off me. It's so much fun when people keeping making comments on weight loss. I have really been at this weight for over 2 years because I lost it with the band and then got revision, but people still ask me if I am still losing weight. I am lucky that I hate to shop or I would be spending a lot of money. -
Starting to walk-but with questions....
Oregondaisy replied to Chancie's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I think that's great that you went walking by yourself. I go to the gym by myself, but I can't bring myself to go for a walk unless I have a friend with me. Just try to walk as fast as you can without being uncomfortable. If you are breaking a sweat, you're doing great! -
With the sleeve you can eat whatever you want after the post op diet. I do have trouble telling when I am full. I have to stop eating by looking at the portion and knowing how much I can eat. If I eat until I am full at the table, I am too full and uncomfortable 15 min. later. There are a lot of us who are band to sleeve revisions and we are all thrilled to be rid of the band. As far as I know, there are only a couple of people who have trouble eating early in the day. I have been able to eat and drink right away from day 2 of surgery. I had to force myself to slow down when I was in the hospital, because I was supposed to only drink 2 oz every 15 min. I could have easily drank whatever they put in front of me. Feel free to ask anything. We are all glad to help. I revised to the sleeve after I gained 15 lbs back from having my band unfilled. I was a self pay though.

As someone who self paid for the band, and self paid for the sleeve, I can tell you getting the sleeve was the best money I ever spent. I am so glad my band is sitting on my dresser. Feel free to ask any of us anything. There is also a band to sleeve revision thread.

Liver biospy with sleeve procedure?
Oregondaisy replied to attitudefree's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No, but I wish they did. I've had to have 2 liver biopsys due to liver problems and it sure would have been nice to have it done all at the same time. -
Are you kidding me? I had my daughter do it for me. I had it all made but couldn't figure out what to do next. She whipped it out in a few seconds. I don't like the background she choose, but I didn't want to bug her about that part. In a few days, I may ask her to fool around with a different background. I don't think the purple goes very well with the shirt color. I like that site though Susan. The other one gives everyone a head with no neck!

Hope everything goes smoothly. I hope you are like me and are surprised that this surgery really is not painful. Looking forward to hearing how you're doing.

They sell those papaya tablets at Walmart too. I was surprised they carry them there. they are pretty tasty too, but I haven't had to use them since I had my band taken out.
-
You know you can call them. They are great about answering all your questions over the phone. It seems to me that once I sent back my email with all the questions, I called the next day and got my surgery date.

I am sure it's some kind of chemical imbalance in my brain. When I was on Paxil for general anxiety disorder, it really helped. The only problem is one of the side effects was it can make you sweat. I couldn't take it anymore. I was dripping wet all the time. My face was dripping like I was standing in the shower and it was way too annoying. All those SSRI's give me some weird side effect.

i wish more people who are considering getting a lap band would read through this thread. I feel so bad for people who are so happy they are getting band surgery. They are only asking for trouble and they don't know it.

Help! Talking to friends and family- Suggestions, tips, stories?
Oregondaisy replied to Feffers's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
mac gave you some good advice on how to talk about it with your spouse. As for the rest of the people, it's up to you who you tell. I didn't tell people because I didn't want to hear their negativity. Nobody knows other than my kids and my friend who also had the sleeve. -
My Scale Won't Move, Help!
Oregondaisy replied to learned2bskinny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
what about exercise? Don't worry. The scale will move. It can't help it because with the sleeve we eat so little bit. Your body is just adjusting to it's new weight until it decides it's ready to give some more up. It's normal. -
My surgeon used glue when I had lap band but Dr. Aceves uses tape.
-
when I was losing, I made sure I bought the kind that had a little spandex in them. They seemed to stay snugger longer even if they were a little big, if that makes sense.

I thought I ate too much but it's been hours since I ate. I just looked up the symptoms and they said one of them is gas. I have gas all the time but this is the first time I have ever had this pain that is on the right side. How do you know if you're having gall bladder problems. Mac mentioned that my nausea could be gall bladder related.

I can handle the physical, the mental is the hard part!
Oregondaisy replied to JageK's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
One thing that made it easier for me was watching the scale move every day. It seemed to make it so worthwhile. I also tried to stay away from anyone who was eating. Can you go into another room while your family is eating? -
the band worked great for me for about a year. Weight loss was very slow and I kept having to go back to get more fills. When I finally felt like I had the fill right, I started throwing up in my sleep. If I were you, I would read all the complications on the lap band board. There is a section and a section on life without the band. People like me have paid a lot of money out of pocket for the band, only to have to pay again to get the sleeve. Life with the sleeve is so much easier. There is nothing to worry about like the band ruining your stomach.
