Had my surgery Thursday monring
Oregondaisy replied to Oregon Rose's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I hope you feel better soon and are pain free. -
On lap band talk, there is a thread called "posting just to post" I think we need that thread here. We can talk about anything that's on our mind. This past weekend I went camping. In the middle of the night, the sprinklers came on with no warning. I seriously think the entire campground could hear me yelling "shut that off!" I had a book I borrowed from a friend on the picnic table. It got completely ruined. I am not happy. they should put signs up that underground sprinklers come on so don't set your tent up over one of these underground hidden sprinklers!

Hope you have better luck than me finding it. Maybe I'll ask someone at Walmart tomorrow. Maybe they don't keep it with the other yogurt.

Complications after Sleeve Surgery
Oregondaisy replied to attitudefree's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Ready to drink EAS or Atkins are not thick. I am not sure if you want to try any type of Protein drinks or not. Eas is really thin like Water. I am so sorry you're going through this. It has to be rough . I'm glad you have your faith in God to help you through it. -
What prompted your revision?
Oregondaisy replied to Bandedbut's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I was 15 lbs from goal when I got the sleeve. I gained that back from being unfilled. I was a self pay no matter what. My insurance did not cover WLS of any kind for any reason. The band was making me miserable so I didn't care. I just wanted it out and I knew I would gain it all back without another WLS. -
Had my surgery Thursday monring
Oregondaisy replied to Oregon Rose's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Yes, I do too. Dr. Aceves keeps us in the hospital for 3 days. I was glad I was in case I needed anything, even though I was so bored. I hope your pain goes away soon. -

I was throwing up in my sleep. I got my band unfilled and it went away but it came back. It made me nervous as to what was going on inside that I could not see. I was a self pay for the band and I self paid for the revision. -
LIQUIDS how long 4u?
Oregondaisy replied to ALISIA's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Dr. Aceves had us do 10 days clear liquid 10 days full liquid then 10 days of mushies. I think it's pretty common to do an acid reducer for a period of time. -
wow, sorry to hear you had a rough time of it. I hope you're feeling much better really soon.

Come in and chat with me!
Oregondaisy replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am leaving the chat window open in case anyone wants to talk. I will hear the door bell ring. -
I just don't keep junk food in the house. In the evening when I want to snack, I have sf popsicles, sf fudgesicles, sf pudding, or sf Jello. I would have to go to the store if I really wanted something else. I am plain just too lazy. Plus I am on this forum every evening, and that takes my mind off eating. Now, when I go to a friend's house, I am in trouble. She keeps every kind of candy bar you can think of in her house and I can't resist temptation. It doesn't seem to hurt me though, if I fall off the wagon occasionally.

Hope that spot on your leak test turns out to be nothing. Glad you are recovering and in a nice comfy place.

Surgery on Monday
Oregondaisy replied to heftynetty's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Best of luck for a speedy recovery. You'll be so excited when that scale starts moving down! -
I have never heard of that. I have always been told to use calcium citrate, not calcium carbonate and that we absorb that just fine.

No More weight coming off...and bummed
Oregondaisy replied to AJW's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
sometimes our bodies just want to get used to the new weight. I always lost a few then hit plateau, then lost a few again. I never lost every single week other than the clear liquid stage. -
You and me both Ruthi. I am starting ball room dancing classes soon. I am excited to start that.

That sounds like a good plan Vegas. It would be good to be on a cruise with people who all ate like we do.

Duodenal switch is the first part to the sleeve.

In the evenings, I want to snack. I don't usually have head hunger until the evenings and then I have a sf popsicle or fugdesicle, or sf pudding. I don't keep anything like chips or candy, other sweets, etc. in the house. There are some foods that the sleeve just won't let you overeat. Things like chips go down pretty easily, so I just don't keep them around.

How long did you band to sleeve revision take?
Oregondaisy replied to austinglobe's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I don't know how long the surgery took. I was asleep! I think it took about an hour and another hour in the recovery room. I was in the hospital 3 days. Dr. Aceves does 3 leak tests. I was bored in the hospital because I felt fine, but I was glad to be in there even though Dr. Aceves has never had a leak. It's comforting to know if you do have any complications, you're in the right place. -
I had mine done at the same time too. I think people have to have it done separately if their stomach is damaged from the band and needs to heal before the sleeve can be done.

First social setting kind of a NSV
Oregondaisy replied to Tiffykins's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
That's so cool Tiff! You are very brave to tell people like that. I am always afraid of negative comments so I never told anyone. -
No, I don't think it's the same at all. With the band it usually stays stuck until it comes back up. With the sleeve, it feels stuck for a few seconds, then you can feel it go down.

Where do you get this folicure shampoo? Do you think it makes your hair dry? I was using Nioxin but it seemed like it was drying out my hair. I used it from day one after surgery, and it didn't seem to help. My hair is falling out like crazy.
