    Hi from Louisiana

Wow, twins must keep you really busy! Congratulations on your up coming surgery! Welcome to our little corner of the WLS world.
  2. I bet you are very anxious for the 17th to get here. Then you can have soups as long as they are blended until there are no chunks. There are also some places you can order bariatric soups that are higher in protein. I have a tomato soup that is very good and has 20 grams of protein. It's made by Proti.
  3. What doctor will you be going to? congratulations on your sleeve decision. I think you're right. I had the band and I couldn't wait to have it out and get the sleeve. I liked the band at first, and then it started causing me all sorts of trouble.

Scared of transition to soft food

Soft fish is an easy one to eat. Talapia is a white fish and you can cook it til it's really soft in just a little olive oil and put lemon over it and it's really good. It's easy to eat.
  6. I don't even know what I had. I remember my legs being shaky the first time I tried to get up and walk. Whatever they gave me, it was not a problem. It was out when I got back to my room. Honestly, I don't remember anything. I don't even remember being taken to surgery. I just remember WasA calling me at 5 am telling me I would be going back to sleep soon enough.

Scared of transition to soft food

Everyone seems to have problems with eggs. I made egg salad and it was easy to eat, but only a few bites at a time. I don't like eggs any other way, so I haven't tried them scrambled. I've heard a lot of people complain they don't do well with them though. Yogurt does go down easily.
  8. In the beginning when it was hard for me to eat, I ate 2 bites of either tuna, chicken, or egg salad. I would eat 2 bites throughout the day. Sometimes one bite would be all I could get down, but then I would try one more bite an hour later. In between, I would sip my water. It got easier each day. I didn't start solids when I as supposed to, until it got much easier to eat the mushies.

    Where is everyone???

Everyone is so busy on labor day that they don't have time to post? Unfortunately, I have a bad cold and I am not fit enough to be around other humans. I am so glad it's a holiday since I am sure not up to going to work. going to the dr. on Wed. which is a regularly scheduled appointment, but I am sure glad I have it. This coughing is wearing me out.

Come in and chat with me!

Does anyone want to set up a regular chat day and time? I am on the west coast so we need to take into consideration the time difference so that this will work for people in other time zones. I know people come in and leave, because nobody else is in there. You can see the last few lines when you log into chat. Now if we could just make it so people come in at the same time, that would be great!
  12. I am with Mac on this one. I killed 2 birds with one stone so to speak, my first few days. Isopure has a lot of protein and gives you 20 oz of liquid at the same time. After that, I used GNC unflavored protein powder in Crystal lite and SF Hawaiin punch.
  13. Great idea Susan, we need a belly button update!

    popcorn

Those 100 calorie microwave bags are good. they aren't greasy. At least then it's portion controlled. I am glad when I go to the movies, my sleeve does not let me eat as much as my band did. I eat a little bit of it and I feel so stuffed, it's not as appealing as it used to be when I could polish off a large bag with no problem.
  15. I'm so sorry. I hope they can get this figured out for you. I hope the shots you will give yourself will take care of this for you.

1 Step Forward, 5 Steps Backward

There is a book called the Beck Diet Solution. It's not a diet. It's supposed to retrain your mind. I have heard that the work book that goes along with the book is more helpful than the book. You can order it through amazon. It helped me, but I didn't even know about the work book when I ordered the book. I paid $9 for the book through Amazon. Maybe there is even a copy of it at the library?

    Regrets?

I have no regrets at all. Eating out can be difficult because no matter where you go, it's expensive if you can only eat 1/4 of what they bring you. I do bring a lot of food home, but some food just doesn't reheat well. I still don't regret if for even one second. I just regret spending the money to get the band, but I would have never learned about the sleeve if I hadn't had the band first.
  18. What is PT and INR? I have never heard of these in a blood test.

    Water *H2O*

If I am really thirsty when I am eating, I will take a sip of water and it doesn't seem to matter. The reason to not drink with your meals is it's supposed to make us get hungry faster but I don't think a sip will cause that.

Most sleeve Drs out of country?

in her original post, she was asking about people being banded by doctors in mexico. I was banded by a doctor right here in my town. He just barely started doing sleeves. i wanted a doc experienced in band to sleeve revisions, and Dr. Aceves fit that bill.

    Water *H2O*

I can drink a 20 oz bottle of water in about 5 min. I drink 24 oz of water to get all my meds down in the morning and it takes me less than 5 min cause I am usually late for work.

Most sleeve Drs out of country?

It's only because most ins. companies will not pay for the sleeve. That's why so many of us are going to Mexico. It's cheaper there for someone paying out of pocket. I would have been thrilled to have an ins. company pay for my surgery, but since I didn't, I feel that I went to the best doctor for the best price, who happens to practice in Mexico.

    popcorn

I like regular popcorn way better than kettle corn.
  24. Wouldn't Isopure take care of both at once? It's high in Protein, and I would think it's a good liquid for hydration. I feel so bad for everyone that has this problem. I had the opposite problem. i wanted to drink all the time and I had to remind myself to slow down. I had no trouble getting 60 grams of protein and 64 oz of Water in every day since the day I left the hospital. All I can say is remember to keep sipping throughout the day and evening.

Places to get liquid protein samples

Good! Keep them coming. When new people are researching, it will be good for them to have a place to go to get samples. There is no sense in buying a big tub and finding out you can't stand it. Someone can recommend something, but everyone has different taste.
