  1. I am just curious whether or not your sleeve surgery was done by your band dr?

    Ist Day Out

If you can tolerate Protein shakes, you do need to get some protein in there. Dr. Aceves has us on 10 days of clear liquid which includes Isopure. It has quite a bit of protein in it. Most people don't like it though. After that, 10 days of full liquids, Protein Shakes, Soups, and yogurt. Then 10 days of mushie or soft foods. Are you going to have to order online or do you have a store where you can purchase Liquid Protein? I started 2 threads regarding this. One is rate your liquids, and another one is where people order different samples of liquid Protein drinks.
  3. Steph, thanks so much for making your font bigger. I really appreciate that. My friend had open heart surgery which they said was directly related to her diabetes and her ins. turned her down twice. She finally gave up and went to Dr. Aceves right after I did. She was positive her ins. would approve her surgery after they just got done paying for her heart surgery. The surgeon here wrote the letter of appeal that said sleeve surgery would cure her diabetes. They turned her down again.

I don't have a clue. I would suppose she is lucky to have any coverage at all. Most jobs in this town are minimum wage jobs that have no health care coverage. She is an accountant, so she does make a decent wage, but a lot of employers refuse to pay for any health care packages.

My friend who is only 48 yrs old had a heart attack on Monday. I talked to her today and her insurance through her work will only pay 50% of her hospital bill. This is a single woman who works very hard to support herself. It makes me sad that her coverage is so lousy, and now she will be off work for a period of time with a huge hospital bill to worry about. It also makes me feel bad that I never told her I had WLS. I haven't told many people, but telling her now would only make her feel bad that I never told her in the first place.

    Anybody watching Biggest Loser tonight?

Amen to that. I am glad I don't have to do it on my own anymore. I went to the gym like a fanatic for 3 years before I had WLS. I lost 2 lbs every week and gained it back every weekend. I felt like such a failure. This is so much better!

    Anybody watching Biggest Loser tonight?

I tend to watch more as the season gets going and there aren't so many contestants on all at once. There are a few people who have come back or been interviewed from a few seasons ago who did learn to exercise and eat right and have kept the weight off.
  8. I have had insomnia for years. It's a very big problem in my life.

I pay $500 a month for ins. and it's really lousy coverage, but better than nothing. I was all excited because as a widow, I will get social security at 60. Then I read that my ins. will go up to $1,000 a month when I am 60. So my entire social security will go to pay for that.
  10. Man, I am just missing everyone! I am going on 10-12 for tests. I am going to miss Dr. Aceves too. He is going to be on vacation. I would have changed my testing but I had already bought my plane ticket to Phoenix. Dr. Campos was nice enough that he said he would stick around to do my tests if I could get there by noon. I guess when Dr. Aceves goes on vacation, everyone there goes at the same time.
  11. I do get sick if I eat the wrong foods. They say you don't dump with the sleeve, so I don't know what you call it. My heart races, I get nauseous and very bad diarrhea. I am not sure what causes it. It's a combination of either sugar, fat or milk intolerance.

one month out and down 30lbs!

There are a lot of Protein Drinks I like. I like them a lot. It's so much easier than cooking. I had my surgery by Dr. Aceves, in Mexicali. Sorry MNB.

    NSV shout outs

I never had that problem. I hardly have any boobs left.
  14. Shanda can't wait to hear how you're doing. hope you have something you can stand to drink on your post op diet. That seems to be everyone's main problem after surgery. Now the fun begins-watching the scale drop! Congratulations!

Most sleeve Drs out of country?

That is horrible mac! I don't even know what the symptoms of a blood clot are!

Come in and chat with me!

Cajun, I finally sent your email today. When is your surgery?
  17. Oregondaisy

Come in and chat with me!

Yes I found out last night that tiffy is 2 hours ahead of me. I thought it was 3. A new gal who is in AZ has been coming in. I talked to her on the phone today too, and she is very nice. She is only 3 weeks out of surgery. Chat is starting to pick up! I am really happy!
  18. Oregondaisy

    Hey...another newbie here!

    that is very catchy!
  19. Ask Nina or whoever you have been talking to over there to send you the email they have with all the things they suggest you bring. My main problem there was I was completely bored. There isn't much on tv in English, and if wasn't for Dr. Campos loaning me his lap top every day, I would have gone nuts. I mainly took long walks outside every day. I have no idea how hot it still is down there, but it was very warm at the end of April when I was there. I took a cotton robe rather than a warm fuzzy robe and flip flops cause it's easier than bending over to get slippers on. The pharmacy is right next door to the hospital so that is not a problem. I traveled completely alone and it was not a problem at all. If you can get some kind of Protein powder to mix with Water for the plane ride home, that would be good too. Post away! We are all very willing to answer questions. We all love Dr. Aceves and all of his staff. They are very helpful. I'll be going back for tests on 10-12. It's too bad we will just miss each other!

    Just an introduction.......

Count me in as someone who is really glad to have the band out . I wish I would have known about the sleeve and could have saved myself a lot of money and a lot of misery. I love the sleeve!

Most sleeve Drs out of country?

Hope, I would really like to read your posts but I seriously can not see them. Your font is so tiny I would need a magnifying glass to read them. I don't mean to be rude, but I have never seen a font so tiny anywhere else.
  23. Oregondaisy

    No "complications" forum?

I was losing more immediately after surgery. The hair loss had just started slowing down after lap band surgery 2 years previously, then as soon as I had sleeve surgery, it started coming out again. Then about 2 weeks ago, it started coming out even more and more. I seriously don't think it will stop coming out until I have been a year post op.
  24. Oregondaisy

    Lost it

That work book must be like the Beck Diet Solution work book. A lot of people have recommended that work book. I have the book but not the work book.
  25. Oregondaisy

    I did it!

That's a great post Mac. Too bad you can't make it a sticky. A lot of people don't know where they can order the bariatric foods. It's good to know if you want to stock up on stuff besides protein shakes.
