Fluids and Fiber - TMI story but important
Oregondaisy replied to DownInSocal's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I don't count calories so I don't have a clue. I just make sure to get plenty of exercise so I pretty much eat whatever I want. I am really bad. I eat candy, cake cookies etc, all the time, but I don't seem to gain. My meal portions are small, and I exercise like crazy, so I am maintaining at goal with no trouble at all. -
Thanks for posting and sharing. You are right. There are not enough people at this board who have had the sleeve for very long. That's why I end up doing a lot of reading at the other board. Lan2k I hope things get better for you soon. Maybe you're having spasms like Vegas Angel gets. She says drinking warm things in the morning helps. I am sure it must be frustrating for you.

I know. I am bummed. It said to try to log in from the lap band site but I got the same message there too. -
I am lucky that I only have to work part time. If I had to go after work, I would be in trouble. It's just such a habit for me to get up in the morning and put on my gym clothes. I have been doing it for 5 years so I feel horribly guilty when I don't go.

Emarrassing gas problem on a regular basis
Oregondaisy posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Since I got my sleeve surgery, I have horrible gas. It's so embarrassing. I know to stay away from sugar alcohol. Eating that stuff is a big mistake for me. I will toot for hours afterwards. Yesterday I made a new discovery. Regular sugar give me gas too. I went to a kid's birthday part and they were serving cup cakes. Plus I had a mini snickers and I was tooting away for the next few hours. I also believe that Splenda gives me gas. I notice if I eat an Atikins Protein bar with no sugar alcohol but they do contain splenda, I am tooting within an hour. And of course milk products give me gas too. I seem to be okay with yogurt though. Beano and gas X do not seem to help. Does anyone else have a problem with gas? Have you narrowed it down to what will cause it? What do you do for it? -
Emarrassing gas problem on a regular basis

It wouldn not be that big of a deal if they weren't really stinky. I can't smell them because I have no sense of smell but others tell me it's nasty. They are silent but deadly, and sometimes not even silent and then it's double the embarrassment. -
Fluids and Fiber - TMI story but important
Oregondaisy replied to DownInSocal's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
If you want one every day, you should take the Miralax. If not, you won't have one every day. We just don't have enough room in our stomachs for enough fruits and veggies and we would be eating non stop. -
first time barfing...

I have a lot of trouble with no full signal too Tiffy. I have to go by looking at the portion and knowing it's the right size.If I ate until I was full, I would be completely miserable in 20 minutes. -

Have you told people that you had surgery? It hasn't been that big of a deal for me because I had the band first, and I lost slowly with the band. I really haven't lost much with the sleeve, so it hasn't been very noticeable. -
first time barfing...
Oregondaisy replied to Bob_350lbs's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have felt like I was bulimic at times too. In the beginning when I was learning to eat, if I ate too much, it would come back up and I felt so much better. I have learned my portion size so that rarely happens now. -

I should go back to taking probiotics I guess. I don't know why I stopped them other than I take so much junk already. -
2nd follow up done now I have questions...
Oregondaisy replied to DownInSocal's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Everyone goes on some type of acid reducer or PPI which stops the acid before it's even made. Eventually, after you are off the post op diet, you may need miralax which is not a stimulant laxative, but helps with constipation. Most people have diarrhea while on the liquid diet. Some people have had it bad enough where they needed to take immodium sometimes. -
thanks! I like to use the flavored cream cheese spread on ham too.

What should I be feeling a week and a half out?
Oregondaisy replied to Manatee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
A week and a half out I was still on liquids so I didn't have any experience with mashed potatoes. Just go slowly and sip your liquids. Once I moved to mushies it was 2-3 bites for me and I was done. I stayed on liquids longer than I was told to because I just felt better on them. I experimented with mushies a little bit at a time, until I could progress past the 2-3 bites. -
I am so glad to hear from you Norma! I thought Sergio was a doll just as sweet as can be too. Of course I loved everyone else as well. Glad to hear you're on the road to recovery. Let us know is we can be of any help while you're on the post op diet. You're going to have fun watching that scale go down! Glad to have you on the losers side!

An Article I just read on OH re: VSG and Leaks
Oregondaisy replied to LAN2k's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What I got out of reading that is that leaks happen mostly immediately after surgery. Are we safe to assume if we make it past a couple of months, we won't get a leak? -
Happy Birthday Susan! I hope you have a great day! It's a perfect day to indulge yourself in a big ol piece of cake!

Can you buy the artichoke dip already made? I have some artichoke hearts in jar, but not sure what to mix it with to make dip. I will be very good today and eat right due to my pig out on sugar yesterday. I am shocked that when I weighed myself this a.m. I did not gain any weight. It must have been the hour of hard cardio in the morning that helped with that, because I had so much junk food on Halloween.

Feel really unwell after eating, 4 weeks post
Oregondaisy replied to sam-i-am's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I stayed on liquids mostly in the beginning. I am one of the lucky ones that likes my Protein drinks just fine so it was easy for me to drink them rather than eat in the beginning. When I started to eat, honestly, I ate 2-3 bites in the beginning and I was DONE. -
At 3 weeks we were allowed mushy foods. I ate a lot of chicken, tuna and egg salad around that time. There is also a recipe for the ricotta bake here in the food section.
