Thank you! I can't wait to get it over with. Now I am worried about going 3-4 days with no Protein. My hair started falling out like crazy 4 months post op and I can't afford to lose anymore! Everyone always says make sure to get in your protein so you don't lose hair.

    NSV shout outs

My latest NSV has to do with my ball room dance classes. I made a friend at class and she said I needed skirts and dresses to wear to the dances so guys will ask me to dance. We made a killing at Goodwill. I bought a bunch of really pretty clothes for about $20. Then I went to a dance that evening and just had a blast dancing. There is no way I could have done this 95 lbs ago. Feeling confident enough to go to one of the dances and having guys ask me to dance was a great NSV!

    Hunger Pains/Burping

Tell me about it. I pass loud gas and I have no clue it's coming. I am just walking along, and out it comes. Talk about embarrassing.

    come into the chat room!

I don't know why I can get into the forums but the chat window won't open. The hospital must have it blocked.

places to order samples of protein drinks, etc

I used GNC unflavored Protein powder and put it in no sugar added apple juice, sf Hawaiian punch, crystal lite, poweraide zero, etc. I ended up mixing the rest of the unflavored that I didn't use, with one of my favorite chocolate Protein drinks.

I think so. People have told me that the gas was probably related to gall stones. It would be really good to get rid of that embarrassing gas!

    Post Op Diet HELP!

It would drive me nuts to have someone tell me what to eat. I eat whatever I want. I am sure you know how to pick from the food groups. Just don't over do it with carbs and you will be fine.
  11. I love my support group. I haven't been able to go lately and I miss it terribly. Last time I was there I spilled my guts because so many people there had lap band and I wanted them to know that there are other options. this support group is for all surgery types. I am sure next time I go, people will have questions about the sleeve. Not many people around here have had it done. Gastric bypass and lap band are still popular, and I want everyone to know there is something better out there. I am looking forward to the next one.

    eating has become a problem

Most everyone has to be on an acid reducing medication for at least 6 months following sleeve surgery. I am past 6 months post op. I tried to go off them and got a terrible stomach ache. It's not worth it. I am back taking my medication and I see no reason to stop it. I had a really hard time switching over from liquids to solids. Don't rush it. In the beginning I could only eat 2-3 bites. I got my Protein from Protein drinks and in between, I tried a few bites of soft foods and eventually it got easier. I think it takes longer than we think for our new tummies to heal.

    Looking for support

We are all more than happy to help. You will receive all the support you could possibly ask for on this board. It's too bad your family is not supportive, but we can be your family.

    Hunger Pains/Burping

I rarely burp now. I used to burp like crazy when I had band. As I stated before, it's gas coming out the other end that I have a problem with. It's very embarrassing and annoying.

    Whatcha' Eating?

Are any of you having trouble getting your fiber in? I am going to go back to using ground flax. I forgot about it for awhile. I have been making salads with lots of veggies and chicken breast but I still don't seem to get in enough fruits and veggies needed for fiber. for those of you who keep mentioning blue berries, are you buying them frozen?

    slight setback

Norma, I am sorry to hear you need surgery soon. I will be thinking of you. I am so sorry you're in pain. It's good you got your sleeve surgery out of the way so you won't be recuperating as much from sleeve surgery while you are recuperating from your knee surgery.
  18. I can eat anything I want. I have slimed before, from eating too fast and too much. It takes awhile to figure out how much to eat. I have trouble sometimes because I feel much more full after about 20 min. after I am done eating, so I have learned to stop eating before I feel really full. Life is so much easier with the sleeve than the band. Yes, it's true, I am never really hungry.

    Aloha everyone!

You're welcome. Like I said, we are all always happy to help!
  20. Where are you? I have not seen your around in a long time!

Most of us were on a liquid diet for a few weeks after surgery but if your doctor gave you the go ahead on the foods that you're eating, then you're doing great!

    Officially lost 100lbs

Way to Go Tiffy! You're a real inspiration!
  23. Sorry you're not having good luck finding a Protein drink. Are you still looking for a home for your unjury? Maybe you should just have a Protein Drink with sugar. The amount you'll be drinking post op is not that much that sugar is going to hurt you. You'll be getting your protein from regular food shortly after surgery.

    Exercise help here, please!

I can't wait for my gym to start those Zumba classes! It looks like so much fun.
  25. It's really not much of a vacation when you go there. I had more of a tour of the area right around the hospital than most people. The lady I rode with in the van from San Diego spoke Spanish and she wanted to go to the mall. I had fun the day before surgery!
