Regarding antacid drugs
Oregondaisy replied to LAN2k's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We are supposed to take calcium citrate. the chewable antiacids are calcium carbonate which is not absorbed easily. Calcium citrate is easily absorbed but you aren't supposed to take it at the same time as your PPI acid preventer. -
I took something today that was like airborne. My ears plugged up at work. I felt like I was sitting on the bottom of a swimming pool. It was uncomfortable. I am sure it has something to do with allergies. My boss gave me some sort of fizzing allergy stuff and my ears cleared up right away, and it did not bother my stomach in the least.

How long have you been sleeved?
Oregondaisy replied to Shontel's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
This are a couple of posters who have had their sleeves over a year. The people who have had their sleeves longer than one year post on obesityhelp.com like tiffy said. That board is much older than this one. This board is set up in a way that is easier to read though. -
I've been having gall bladder problems for a couple of months. I was trying to hold out until January since I have $1,000 deductible. Last night I was in so much pain, I had to go to the ER. It turns out the gall stones blocked a duct and now I have pancreatitis. The only thing that fixes that is nothing by mouth until further notice. I guess I will be losing that last 5 lbs that is so hard to lose. I would imagine I will be having surgery sometime this week.:thumbup1:

I seriously doubt if your surgeon expects you to have zero fat because that is next to impossible. 3 grams of fat is really nothing. Maybe you should give them a call and ask them what they expect you to eat. One thing that all surgeons agree on is protein. It's next to impossible to get protein with zero fat.

How long have you been sleeved?
Oregondaisy replied to Shontel's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I had my surgery at the end of April. I really don't think there is anyone who has had the sleeve who posts on this board longer than 2 years, like you are asking about. -
You are all so sweet to be concerned about me! I went out of town with a friend and didn't take my laptop. I'm glad VegasAngel had my cell# so she could text me even though I am not able to text back very easily. My phone is not one that's set up for easy texting. I am going to be in Az from 1-10 until 1-14 but I will have my lap top with me! Does anyone know anything about how to get online with your phone? Denna was telling me there is a cord you can get to connect your phone to your lap top and it's much cheaper than getting online any other way. Otherwise, I have to take my lap top to the grocery store down the street. It would be nice to be able to get online at the house.

I am all better now other than the new side effect, diarrhea. Funny how I learned to spell that word since WLS:laugh0:

It does get better, REALLY! I remember when it was hard to eat, and I lived on chicken salad out of a can. Now at 7 months, I can pretty much eat anything. Sometimes not much, but I do feel satisfied.

Hair Loss post-op
Oregondaisy replied to learned2bskinny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Can someone recommend a good fish oil that does not make a nasty taste if you burp it up? And where do you get it? Rose, it will be interesting to see if you still haven't lost any hair when you reach 4 months. 4 months seems to be when it starts. -
I bought a box of the Oh Yeah bars at GNC. the last box my daughter ordered and I will have to ask her where she got them. We placed an order together and I have no idea where she ordered from.

Eat whatever you want! If you count your calories and count your Protein, you're doing good.I have occasionally eaten chicken nuggets but I usually pull the breading off. I just don't like it. I use a straw all the time. I mean all the time. I drink much better with a straw. I was never told not to. It sure hasn't hurt me.I also chew gum all the time. It helps me not eat. As long as you're positive you won't swallow it, chew all the gum you want. I also drink a Protein Drink every morning. I like my Protein drinks. At least I am sure of how many grams of protein I am getting every morning. I would stay away from bread, noodles rice, in other words, white carbs. Those will slow your weight loss down, and make you hungry faster. 30 lbs in 6 weeks is great!

My daughter drinks the pickle juice! Are you getting some Protein in at all? -
Please Help - Post op One week
Oregondaisy replied to njsleever's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, I think you should go to the ER if this does not clear up. sometimes the infection needs to be packed with gauze. these infections are nothing to fool around with. -
Is this hunger pangs?
Oregondaisy replied to Gingin33's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You need to take it every day. People who have had sleeve surgery are supposed to stay on an acid blocker for a few months. there is a difference between the ones that help with the acid once it forms, and the ones (PPIs)that prevent it from forming in the first place. -

more than a 3 week stall? anyone?? please HELP
Oregondaisy replied to okalani's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went on a stall that lasted longer than 3 weeks. It was frustrating. I knew that the scale had no choice but to move because my portions were so tiny. It takes the body awhile to decide to give up anymore weight after losing. It wants to get used to the new weight for awhile. Just keep eating right and exercising. It's so temping to say I am just going to eat (some bad food) because I am not losing anyway. Just keep eating lower fat higher Protein foods and avoid white carbs-noodles rice, etc. and you will lose again. -
Let's not forget thrift stores. I have gotten brand new clothes at thrift stores for like $2. Sometimes I have paid as much as $4. When I started ball room dance classes, I needed dresses and skirts which I haven't worn in years. I got a whole big bag of stuff for $20. The tops are very pretty silky type material and none of it looks used in any way.

Those are great NSV Carolyn and Tiffy! It feels so good when these wonderful things happen that would never have happened without the sleeve. I have a little one too. Last night at dance class, the teacher picked me to demonstrate one of the dances. It was kind of fast, and he said he picked me because I am so physically fit. I guess all that cardio at the gym is paying off. I was so irritated to have gall bladder surgery and not be able to exercise for awhile. I was going to go to the gym today but it's freezing cold in there in the morning and I have to work this afternoon. I am going to start back tomorrow for sure and go a little bit later so I don't freeze. I know it's not supposed to be warm in a gym, but I think 50 degrees is a little ridiculous. They have no heat in there and it's been down to freezing at night here.

Mac, (where ever she is) made goal in 6 months. I do believe she also lost 100 lbs in 6 months.

Welcome Home Tiffy! I can't remember if you left before or after my gall bladder surgery. I lost my appetite after surgery and managed to lose 6 lbs. Two more lbs and I will have lost 100. I hope you had a good time in spite of all the fried food. I've been putting unflavored Protein powder in my Greek yogurt and getting in a little extra protein that way.
