Newbie - Thinking of band to sleeve revision w/ Dr. Aceves
Oregondaisy replied to bethicle's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
You're welcome. If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask. I love my sleeve and I love it when somebody is getting a revision because living with a band is a nightmare, and people just think it's a normal way to live. It's not! -
You did ask if you your stay at the Lucerna Resort the night before surgery is included and yes, it is. Somebody should move these posts out of Dr. Almanza'a thread. Dr. Aceves deserves his own thread, not intermingled with Dr. Almanza's thread.

Total frustration

see, even at 18 days though I was still on liquids. 10 days clear , 10 days of full liquid. I lost 20 lbs on the post op diet. -
Total frustration
Oregondaisy replied to JudyJudyJudy's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Dr Aceves patients do 10 days of clear liquid. I drank unflavored prtein powder in crystal lite. then10 days of full liquids. I had Protein drinks made with Water that were 120 calories.or I had egg drop soup or tomato soup that I got from my band dr. that's 20 grams of protein and 120 calories. So that's 20 days of liquid. There is no way at 12 days I was ready for anything else. For mushies I had about 1/3 cup of chicken salad or egg salad, etc. two bites at a time. I ate 2 bites and maybe 45 min later I had another 2 bites. I still drank Protein Drinks because eating was difficult. -
Newbie - Thinking of band to sleeve revision w/ Dr. Aceves
Oregondaisy replied to bethicle's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Dr Aceves oversews so you end up with a 32 size stomach. I could not be happier with my band to sleeve revision. I had gained back 15-20 lbs from being unfilled with all the band problems. I 167 the day of my revision and I am 135 today. Eating with the sleeve is effortless now. It was a little difficult to learn how much to eat in the beginning, but living with the sleeve is the difference between night and day. Dr. Aceves is a fabulous doctor and I think you are making the right decision! I have good restriction. I do have trouble if I eat until I am full because 20 min. later I am over full. I have learned to look at the size of portion and know what is the right amount. I have thrown up a few times while I was learning and ate too much, but it's not like a stuck feeling. It's more like you're way too full, and some of it just comes back up so you're not uncomfortable. -
I like Old Navy Sweetheart jeans. I wear the short and they are still too long and need to be hemmed. They fit me well all over.I don't particularly like the low rise and they claim to sit at the natural waist but they don't.

Is anyone hungry? Or is it just me?
Oregondaisy replied to rcarter76's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was really hungry on the clear liquid stage, and hungry on the full liquid stage, but not as hungry. I felt completely satisfied when I was able to move to mushies. I was told the hunger hormone grehlin takes awhile to leave our bodies, and it does not happen immediately after surgery. -
Scared of being Skinny
Oregondaisy replied to breekahouse's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My self esteem has gone up so much from not being so overweight. It is so much fun to try on clothes now and not know whether to take a small or a medium into the dressing room. It feels so good not to have to shop in the Plus Size section. You will be the same person with more self esteem. You will have the same personality, but you will just be so much happier when you look in the mirror and that happiness will also be reflected in your personality. -

help in need of serious protein ideas
Oregondaisy replied to backtonew1's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
There is no reason at all once you are past the post op liquids only stage, that people can't get their protein from foods. There are so many foods high in protein. The whole reason for getting sleeved is to eat like a normal person, just with smaller portions. -
This is me at my goal weight.

cajun, you are a nurse. Isn't MRSA a form of staph? -
I don't know anyone who has had their band longer than 5 years who is not having major trouble. My friend has had it for 7 years and she thinks it's normal to sleep in a recliner. When I told her I was throwing up in my sleep, she told me to put a bucket next to my bed, and sleep sitting up. That's what she does and she thinks this is a normal way to live, if you want to not gain back the weight that you lost. I am so thankful that I found out about the sleeve and I had the money to get that band out of me. I love the sleeve. I love that I can eat anything without any trouble at all. With the band, I had no idea if a certain food I ate before would make me throw up the next time I tried to eat it. I wish they would take the band off the market.

i feel like i am eating all day
Oregondaisy replied to hope4204's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You're doing fine Hope. Remember I said I stayed on liquids longer than I needed to because I could only eat two bites at first. I wanted to make sure I was getting the Protein I was supposed to be getting, so I made sure I sipped my Protein drinks or unflavored protein with Crystal lite, etc. Do the best you can. You're doing just fine. -

A really good protein drink is PVL Whey Gourmet Peanut butter and Choc. You can get it from Netrition.com It is really smooth and tasty and I don't think it's super sweet at all. -

Tiffy you two are so cute! -
I am bummed out because I used to have a lot of muscle and I know I am losing it. I have flabby hanging skin and that is something new for me. I'd much rather weigh more and have muscle than hanging flabby skin. I am making sure to do my weight routine often in addition to my weight training classes. I still do cardio, but I know I can't miss out on my weights or strength training.

Hair Loss post-op
Oregondaisy replied to learned2bskinny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh I know our bodies are working differently. I am amazed at how sometimes I can eat something just fine, and sometimes when I eat that same food, I get light headed, dizzy, nauseous, and diarrhea, just like the dumping syndrome. It's weird. The last time was when I ate cranberry sauce. Unfortunately, it's a catch 22 situation. Beef is high in Iron, and also bad for the cholesterol. I need to look up online which foods are iron rich, because I am not going to eat a lot of beef. I am not going to take iron pills either. I remember being pregnant and I had to take them, and they made me sick and constipated. Also with my liver being the way it is, I was told not to take iron. -
I am almost at 8 months. I had taco salad for lunch at 12:00. I bet there was a cup of ground meat on the top.I ate about half of it ( just the meat, not the lettuce) with guac and sour cream. It's now 3:00 and I am still so full, I feel like I am over stuffed. So, at 7 1/2 months, I am not stretched to the point where it's stretched too much. I feel like I ate a giant turkey dinner and it's 3 hours after I ate.

Hey...another newbie here!
Oregondaisy replied to Baldrick's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
That's what I take.I take the generic of Protonix and it works great. I never have acid heartburn or any symptoms of anything like that. It's really cheap too, that's the best part! -
Where do you get the Bariwise. I wrote down the web site my daughter got the Oh Yeah bars but now I can't find the paper I wrote it on. I know it's the Protein something. Maybe the protein shop or protein online. I just know it's better to get them that have more protein than carbs and that's hard to do. My dr. said that net carbs is a bunch of bunk. He said our bodies really don't know the difference between artificial sugar or real sugar and carbs or sugar just make us crave more carbs or sugar.
