nausea has taken over!
Oregondaisy replied to hope4204's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hope it's just a stomach bug Hope. I will be thinking of you. -
I've heard that the body does not even absorb this kind of protein. It would be better to order the Syntrex Nectar. See the food thread for places to order different samples of liquid protein. There are a lot of samples of protein that you can order that are high quality.

How did you do for Holiday Eating?
Oregondaisy replied to shutterbug's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I have done horrible the past few days. Christmas day I had nothing but junk. I did have a Protein drink for breakfast but nothing but junk the rest of the day. We went out to a buffet and I had one bite of prime rib and it didn't go down well so I had a piece of pecan pie. Needless to say, I have gained 4 lbs and I will be glad when the holidays are over. I have done better today and ate the right things but then this evening I had some Cookies again. I know I'll be able to get back on track as soon as I stop running around visting people who have platters of goodies to offer me. I have zero will power when it comes to sweets but I am going to work on that after the New year. I saw a book on a web site for sugar addicts and I am considering buying that and learning to detox from sugar. I wish I was like the other people who say that sugar does not appeal to them anymore. -
nausea has taken over!
Oregondaisy replied to hope4204's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hope I am sorry to hear that. I had a bit of nausea for awhile that came on all of a sudden a few months post op. I got some phenagren and Dr. Campos recommended that I drink the poweraide zero. I think I would call the dr. if you run out of nausea meds and do your best to stay hydrated with whatever you can tolerate. -
I couldn't agree more. I am so glad that thing is out of me and life is back to normal living with the sleeve.

Cajun, I have an appt. with my pcp this week as a follow up for my pancreatitis and gall bladder surgery. Dr. Aceves never told me or gave me any kind of print out on which lab work to have. What should I ask for?

New to VSG, Old to WLS
Oregondaisy replied to wannabehealthy's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
The difference between living with the sleeve and the band is like night and day. I love being able to eat anything I want and never worrying about anything. I feel like I eat really nommally, but just in very small portions. -
Cajun what is this? I have never heard of this. If you have no symptoms, how did you figure it out? I haven't had any tests, as I havn't had any problems. I suppose I should have had an upper Gi by now, but I thought if I was not having problems, I really didn't need one!

Surgeon Choice: Aceves or Rodriguez?
Oregondaisy replied to Keys Pirate's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would never go to anyone but Dr. Aceves. He is so experienced and treats you like you are royalty. The hospital staff there is wonderful as well. I think his experience outweighs any other surgeon available. -
First Horrible Experience...anyone else?
Oregondaisy replied to I Can and I Will's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is a very uncomfortable feeling when you overeat. It's a feeling like you are going to explode. I hate that and I don't do it anymore. -
Come in and chat with me!
Oregondaisy replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have my chat window open and i am waiting for someone to come in and talk to me! -
My only regret is that I didn't find out about it before I got the band. I wish I had gotten the sleeve years ago. I love it!

Come in and chat with me!
Oregondaisy replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I did have it open for awhile and then my friend called and wanted me to come over. She is thinking of sending her daughter to Dr. Almanza and she is having trouble navigating around the boards. She wanted to read what some of his patients have written, so I went over and helped her find that thread. I will try to make sure to be around to chat this evening. I am supposed to go to a practice dance for awhile, but I won't be out late. I am dying to talk to you, Tiffy! -

Where are all the chatters? Are you all out doing your last minute Christmas shopping? If not, I will be around with the chat window open if anyone wants to talk! -
the scale is finally moving
Oregondaisy replied to JudyJudyJudy's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
One thing people have to remember is that cheating on the post op diet is dangerous. It doesn't matter if you're a compulsive eater and used to eating anything you want. Not following the post op diet can put a stress on the new staple line, and can cause a leak. Then you won't have a choice. If you get a leak, you're on a feeding tube. -
I wish more people would ck out the chat room! You can always open the window and leave it open. The door bell rings and lets you know someone has come in, so you can do other things and then start chatting when someone finally makes it in. Everyone should try it out!

come into the chat room!
Oregondaisy replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Tiff and I had a great chat last night. I think anyone who is struggling or needs support should try the chat room. It's so nice to be able to talk and get an immediate response. -

The thing that worked very well for me when I was learning to eat were those little tiny cans of chicken salad. They are right by the tuna in the grocery store. They are all made up and you don't have to add anything. I think the portion is about 1/3 to 1/2 a cup which is just the right size. I still eat them sometimes. You can actually get them at the dollar store. -
I loved it there. I wish I could go back just to visit everyone there. I went alone too and never for one moment felt uncomfortable. In fact, I felt like I was treated like a queen!

Is anyone hungry? Or is it just me?
Oregondaisy replied to rcarter76's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You ALL can get through this! I recently was hospitalized for pancreatitis. They said the only thing that would make the pancreas heal was nothing by mouth. No food no Water, just an IV. I went from Monday until Thursday with nothing by mouth and I was so happy I was sleeved. I was never hungry all those days. The ghrelin will leave your body and you won't be hungry! -
Any long term VSG patients out there?
Oregondaisy replied to 4re4me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Obesityhelp.com does have more people who have had their sleeves longer than a year. It's a much older board and has been around a lot longer, so that is why there are people who have had their sleeve longer. A lot of people who lose their weight and get to goal, stop posting on boards. They are living life at the weight they want to be, so they don't need to ask questions, and sadly, they don't check in as often. -

Oh I am happy you like it. hey I am coming down your way next month for just a few days. I'll be there the 2nd week in Jan. Are you free? -
I would say over half of us in here went to Dr. Aceves. I also feel his is the most experienced surgeon in Mexico and that is why over half of us did choose him to do our surgery. That is one reason, and the other is that the hospital he operates out of is top knotch!
