What can I eat 20 days after surgery?
Oregondaisy replied to tennessee1031's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Fish is considered a mushy food. Smash it up with your fork so that it's good and mushy and you should not have a problem. Don't eat very much of it or you will be overstuffed at this point and that is really uncomfortable. You can say either you had late lunch/snack, or you have a tummy ache and just aren't very hungry. -
Diarrhea is normal for awhile until you get to solid food. I was also someone who had no trouble drinking. I had to force myself to slow down when they told me 2 oz every 20 min. I wanted to drink 8 oz all at once. Mushy/soft foods were also really easy and went down great. It wasn't until I progressed to solid foods that I really felt like my stomach was actually sleeved.

Make sure you really research your mexican surgeon's complications, such as infections and leaks. -
Stretching your sleeve
Oregondaisy replied to rcarter76's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Dense foods like meat will definitely fill you up more than mushy soft foods. While you are on the mushy/soft food stage, don't worry that you are stretching your sleeve. You will definitely feel the difference when you get to regular foods. When you eat too much, you will be so uncomfortable, you will feel like you are going to explode. It's a horrible feeling and you will not want to do it again. -
calling the doc, going in to be seen!
Oregondaisy replied to hope4204's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hope I was just asking about you in the chat room tonight.I miss having you come in and chat with us! I hope you get some answers. It would seem there has to be a reason for all this nausea. Hopefully, if nothing else, he can give you some medication for it! -
My taste buds never did change. I actually find it very strange that taste buds did change for so many people. I still eat the same things I have always eaten, just much smaller portions. I take my son and DIL out for pizza once a week. Last night I had one piece of sausage and olive pizza and I was completely satisfied with one piece. It's like I am so full, I can't possibly think that I miss eating half a pizza. I sit there and watch them polish off the rest of the pizza and wonder where they put it. I gained about 5 lbs between Christmas and New Years from all the fudge and Cookies I ate. Sweets taste wonderful to me. I lost the 5 lbs easily though! Maintaining at goal as been pretty effortless for me.

Starting to think about the sleev
Oregondaisy replied to mica's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
That post above should say Dr. Aceves not Alverez. Dr. Aceves is by far the most experienced sleeve surgeon in MX. Most of the people on this board have gone to him. Nobody has one word to say about him, the staff, and the hospital that isn't 100% wonderful! We all loved being there, and felt confident being in a hospital with an ICU and Dr. Aceves being an experienced trauma surgeon, as well as a bariatic surgeon. -
Tiffy that is funny! I have never tried to float. I haven't been in a bathtub since my daughter was born 28 years ago and my mom said I could't take a shower cause I just had a C section and I might fall down. The best NSV by far for me has been my ball room dance classes. It's so much fun and there is no way I could ever have done this 100 lbs heavier! I am having a blast and dancing makes me so happy!

Curious about caloric intake...spawned by thread on OH
Oregondaisy replied to twobluecats's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't count my calories very often.I count my protein and try to stay away from junk food but unfortunately, I do have a sweet tooth and little willpower when I am around sweets. On my regular schedule,on a work week, I eat my 3 meals an an evening snack and that is the way I got to goal. -
Places to get liquid protein samples
Oregondaisy replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
You're welcome! That's why I put this here. I want people to have a variety to choose from so they are able to find a Protein they like for the post op diet. Getting in your protein post op is important! It keeps you from getting so hungry and helps so you don't lose muscle Losing muscle will cause saggy skin. -
I wonder why some surgeons do multi leak tests and others don't...
Oregondaisy replied to twobluecats's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am the poster child for worriers as well. I am glad Dr. Aceves does 3 leak tests. It made me feel more confident after surgery that if I followed the post op diet, I would not have problems. -
Look in the food forum for a thread where you can order samples. There are quite a few places to order samples. My favorite powder is PVL whey gourmet choc. Peanut Butter that you order from Netrition.com My favorite ready to drink is muscle milk light, but a lot of people say it's too sweet.

Alberto Aceves, MD- Family too?
Oregondaisy replied to tennessee1031's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Yes, they provide a couch in your room, which I have heard is very comfortable. They can stay in your room with no charge.I have also heard that the food in the cafeteria is very good and quite reasonable. People seem to find other people from here that are going to be there at the same time, and the support people are able to hang out with each other. You will love it there. All of us who have been there have nothing but wonderful things to say about everyone at the hospital. They are all great people! -
I hate those lap band commercials. I hate that people are so excited when they get "their date" and think they are doing something good for themselves. I am getting to where I want to throw something at the tv when that commercial comes on!

I recently found a pair at Macy's that is their brand that fits pretty well and it comes in short too. I am always searching for jeans that I don't have to hem.

nausea has taken over!
Oregondaisy replied to hope4204's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hope if you have a GNC, they have an unflavored Protein powder. Otherwise you're going to have to order unflavored from unjury. I hope you feel better soon. I have a cold right now, but unfortunately, it has not killed my appetite. feel better hope! -
Traveling Home From VSG Surgery
Oregondaisy replied to Garyb_58's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I flew down to Mexicali by myself and had no trouble navigating around the airport when I changed planes. I would not have wanted to make a long trip out of it by driving. I think you are doing the right thing by flying. They treat you great at the hospital. I never felt alone. I loved it there! -
Acid Reflux & the sleeve
Oregondaisy replied to Barbara278's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We are all supposed to be on an acid reducer. I have no plans to go off of it. I took it before I had sleeve surgery, so I will just keep taking it. -

FabBy50, What does this person have to gain by lying about this doctor or his practice? I really don't think that people come here just to make up stories. -
