Article - Importance of Vitamins/Supplements post-op VSG
Oregondaisy replied to Tiffykins's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
it's so tricky timing all of this. It drives me nuts. I found out I am anemic and my calcium was low even though I have been taking calcium right from the start. The pharmacist told me to take the Iron with orange juice, which gives me heart burn, but I can't take my PPI anywhere close to taking the iron. Sometimes it's a toss up between taking my iron or taking my calcium. Like I said, it drives me nuts. I have been trying to eat more foods that are high in iron. It's good to know avocados are on that list. I love them! Thanks Tiffy for posting that article. It was interesting! -

Gallbladder issues and surgery
Oregondaisy replied to Tiffykins's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Tiffy I hope you read this before you go in to see the dr. tomorrow. Since it hasn't been that long ago that I had gb surgery, I know what you're going through. Once you get it out and are healed, you'll be able to eat better and feel better. I'm glad you updated us. You are in my thoughts and prayers too. -
Back Pain after eating
Oregondaisy replied to cajun's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have had H Pylori and that's why I got confused when I had gall bladder pain. The pain was in the same place, on my right side, under my boobs. It did go through to the back, but that's not between the shoulder blades. It was to the right. -

Is anyone on antidepressant medication since the surgery?
Oregondaisy replied to LAN2k's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Lan, IMHO is net lingo for in my humble opinion. I hope the Remeron is the answer for you. -
Anybody have a leak?
Oregondaisy replied to txaggiemom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I saw my band surgeon, I told him my ins. would not cover anything band related, and they coded it for heartburn, which was what I saw him for. My ins. paid the office call. -

Oregondaisy replied to LAN2k's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I really do hope they find some answers for you soon Lan. I really think the Remeron will help you with your appetite. That really is a side effect from this medication- an increase in appetite. Please keep us posted on how you are doing. I don't understand how this surgery could have caused these problems for you. Have you seen your bariatric surgeon to ask if this has happened with any of his other patients? -

Well the guy I have been talking to on the phone called me sweetie today. It felt really strange. We have never met. I would never dream of calling him that. I'd like to meet him, but I really don't see how anything could possibly work with the amount of distance between us. If it were 3 hours on a freeway, that would be one thing. This is an hour and 1/2 on a narrow winding road before you get to the freeway. Time will tell I guess. -
Most people talk about the blue diarrhea. It's so strange, but really common.

Back Pain after eating
Oregondaisy replied to cajun's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Tiffy had weird pain when they decided it was her gall bladder. My pain was just textbook, on the right side. I believe Tiffy said hers was by her collarbone. I am not sure about back pain. Hope you get it figured out! -
Chronic Constipation
Oregondaisy replied to barbannn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I need to look on my bottle to see how much Iron I am taking. One of the causes of hair loss is anemia so I definitely don't want to quit taking the iron even though I hate taking it. I've lost a lot of hair. It's so tricky getting everything right. Iron can't be taken within 2 hours of the acid reducer because Iron needs acid to metabolize. Also calcium needs to be taken 2 hours after the acid reducer or the calcium won't be metabolized. Some people have to drink Miralax every day. Miralax just adds Water to the right places. It's not a stimulant laxative. -
What is everyone's exercise routine? New and long timers

It's a blast. It's Latin dancing and whatever else the instructors choreograph. Going on Utube to watch it is a good idea. They are allowed to do 70% Zumba songs and 30% instructors choice of songs.. -

I don't know about that it's better to have loved and lost then never to have loved at all. It was so heartbreaking when my bf told me he decided "being in a relationship was too hard" But I really do want to try again to find true love. I am beginning to think I will be alone for the rest of my life. There's nobody worth dating when I look online in my area and I don't know any other way to meet people around here. -

Hershey, that is a very harsh preop diet and you are to be commended for doing a good job! That's a long time to be on a preop diet so strict. You can do it. We are all pulling for you! -
Observations...5 Days Out
Oregondaisy replied to Keys Pirate's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did get pancreatitis from my gall bladder needing to come out. The only way to cure it was nothing by mouth. I was on an IV for fluids, but I was without food for 5 days and I was not hungry once. gotta love that sleeve! -
The year following my surgery.
Oregondaisy replied to excited2lose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Really, aftercare with the sleeve is minimal. Look at all of us who went to Mexico. I have not been back to see my surgeon once. My regular doctor does my labs. There is a bariatric surgeon here, but I have no need to see him. Just follow your post op diet to the letter and there is little chance you will have complications. I am sorry your doctor was a butt head. I never even used any pain medication.I didn't have any pain. -
Normal to be able to drink a lot 5 days out?
Oregondaisy replied to 2b4me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Like I said, consider yourself lucky. So many people get weak and dehydrated because they have so much trouble drinking. I was lucky too, and had no trouble getting all my protein and fluids in. I loved my protein drinks and I think it's great that you're doing so well! -

Oregondaisy replied to 2b4me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was able to drink as much as I wanted right from the start too. You need to protect the staple line and that's why they say to sip only a few ounces every 15 min.You don't want any pressure against the staple line. Just consider yourself to be one of the lucky ones. Some people get very nauseous the first few weeks. Just drink however slowly your surgeon instructed you do drink, even if you feel like you can drink a lot faster than you were told. -
The best thing to do is call your doctor and ask. If he gives the okay, take a tiny bite and see how you do. You may get very full really quickly this soon post op, so take it slowly. You may not be able to eat the whole thing. If you do, you may experience what we call the foamies. I would just try a quarter of it to start out.

Chancie I am so happy for you. He sounds like a keeper. I thought I posted this but now I don't see it. If I did, forgive me for repeating myself. I've been talking on the phone with someone I found online, but he lives 3 hours away. He seems nice and is cute but I don't see how anything can work with that amount of distance. -
chips chew down to practically nothing so they go down easy. When eating meat, you need to cut it up very tiny and chew it up until it's like a paste in your mouth. Slider foods are foods that are soft and soupy and don't stay in the stomach very long. Cottage cheese can be a slider food, so is Soup, and yogurt.

Set for Friday....really scared!!!
Oregondaisy replied to jray215's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wish I had the sleeve surgery fisrt too. I did lose weight with the band, but there were so many foods that were not band friendly, so no wonder I lost weight. I love that with the sleeve I can eat anything I want. When I started throwing up in my sleep, I knew it was time to get that stinkin band out of me! -
What is everyone's exercise routine? New and long timers
Oregondaisy replied to kermit_ojp's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I got the gym habit way before wls. I do a group power class 2 days a week which is a group weight lifting class. I do weight training two days a week on my own. I definitely think this is the reason I don't have much loose skin. I had a lot of muscle before I had wls. I also do cardio 6 days a week and Zumba at least twice a week.
