  1. Drink bottled Water if you're worried about food poisoning. I've always heard to drink bottled water in Mexico. I would take some Protein powder along, and you'll be good to go. I am jealous too. You'll have a blast and by then you'll have learned out to eat small portions. I am sure you'll find stuff to eat that you love and work well with a sleeved stomach.

    I'm gagging over here!

Look for soy slender in the store. It's soy milk not in the fridge, on the shelf in the grocery store. It has some Protein in it. Also K20 protein Water has some protein in it. have you been to egg face's web site? She has all sorts of Protein Drink recipes.
  3. mark, sorry I dashed out of chat last night without a good bye. My grandson hit the button and disconnected me from being online. You were gone when I came back. I hope you get your ins. problems figured out. If you can afford to go to Dr. Aceves, we all love him!

    vertigo...

Hope I am so glad you finally have some answers! I have really been thinking about you. I can't wait for you to feel well enough to come back to the chat room. My ear has given me so much trouble for the past month,I really feel for ya!
  5. Actually, Mexicali is very big, if you look on a map. That had to have been the same mall we went to. It makes me laugh now that I realize the cab driver took his sweet time giving us a tour of the city to take us there. My last meal before surgery was burger king because by the time I got there, I hadn't eaten because you can't eat before testing. I am glad I went to that mall. It was fun getting away from the hospital.

    Confession Time

I was really afraid of solid/dense foods in the beginning too. I think it will change for you eventually. I remember when 3 bites of solid/dense foods made me feel so sickening full, I just didn't want to eat it again. When you get close to goal, you'll have been sleeved longer and certain foods will start sounding good to you. That doesn't mean you'll be able to eat very much of it. I go to pizza with my kids once a week. I am perfectly satisfied, content and very full with one piece of pizza while I watch them polish off the rest.

    Back Pain after eating

Yeah, the same thing happened to me. I had to have stool samples done too. The dr. told me I would always test positive for it.

    Gallbladder issues and surgery

I am glad you're feeling good Tiffy. I hope every day you feel better.
  9. I had a blast at the mall. I wonder if it was the same one. The lady I rode over from San Diego needed to get a cell phone charger and she spoke Spanish. She insisted we take a cab. Now I am wondering if the cab driver "took us for a ride" because it seemed way longer than a few blocks. It was fun though. I liked seeing the houses and neighborhoods he took us through.

    Favorite Home soft food.

Right- Dr. Aceves had us do 10 days of clear liquid and 10 days of full liquids. That is nearly 3 weeks before we moved to mushie foods and I am pretty sure we could have soupy meat. It's been over 9 months ago for me, so I can't really remember the full list of what mushie foods he told us to have. I am pretty sure chicken salad and ground meat were on the list because I can remember eating a lot of that. Everyone's doctor has a different post op diet, so hopefully your doctor gave you a list.

    Gallbladder issues and surgery

I agree with that. I waited until it was an emergency and I was sorry. It was so painful when I went to the emergency room and much more expensive in the end, from getting pancreatitis.

    Iron Supplements & Nausea

That is really good to know. I need to switch my iron too. I'd like to know that it's being abosrbed and not take it for nothing.
  14. There is nothing good about the band. It sounds good at first, but going for fills and unfills, and puking because cetain foods will not go through the band, is MISERABLE! I love the sleeve and I wish I had known about it first. The band is sitting on my dresser. It's a 10 grand mistake and really I don't know what I was thinking, putting that thing around my stomach. I wouldn't leave a rubber band around my finger for YEARS!

    Post surgery full liquids.

I didn't have any trouble drinking either. You can have as much as you want through the day and evening, but you are supposed to stop at 2-4 oz and take a break before having more, until you are more healed.

    Back Pain after eating

Yep, that's exactly what happened to me. It caused me extra time in the hospital, which stinks cause I have lousy insurance.

Tiffy is going to do great. After everything you have been through, this will be nothing.

    Gallbladder issues and surgery

Tiffy for me, I didn't feel any pain the day of surgery, or the next day. I was surprised when I woke up the third day and it was the most uncomfortable. That lasted about a week. Just thought you might appreciate a little warning that I thought I was home free with no pain the first two days and got a little surprise day 3.

    Favorite Home soft food.

I liked cooking ground turkey, adding a little bit of taco seasoning (I don't like it really spicy) mixing in sour cream and cheddar cheese. Another favorite of mine is Greek yogurt. If you don't get the flavored kind, you can mix in sugar free Jello or sf syrups, with a little splenda or stevia. Greek yogurt has double the Protein of other yogurts and half the carbs.

    Back Pain after eating

That is weird Tiffy. Everyone I know who has had gall bladder pain had it on the right side, not left. Cajun said her gall bladder is already out , I think!

    Surgery Recovery Sucks!

sorry to hear you had so much pain. I had none at all so it's so different for everybody. If you can walk around a lot, that should get rid of the shoulder pain. People get shoulder pain from the gas they use during surgery.
  23. It's definitely an anti depressant. You can look it up online. A lot of depressed people have trouble sleeping so it's a good one for those people. That is why my dr. prescribed it for me, but I didn't like the way it increased my appetite.

    Back Pain after eating

sometimes it's really hard to remember to eat slowly. I hate when I forget cause the consequences are not pretty. I felt really sorry for the guy sitting next to me on the plane on my last trip back from AZ. I had eaten really quickly to get on the plane , and then the "keep seat belt on" sign was on forever. I am sure I disgusted the poor young man.
  25. Yeah, I did read that. I like prunes too! I need to eat more of them.
