Hello... I'm getting a revision :)
Oregondaisy replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Diva! I am so happy to see you and I was so hoping you'd be able to get a revision some day. I am glad you are a chatter. You know I love the chat room! You can ask me anything about Dr. Aceves... I loved him and everyone there at the hospital. I had the most wonderful experience there and I wish I could go back just to visit everyone. Dr. Aceves is a fabulous surgeon. Welcome to sleevetalk! We need you here! -
I was just at my support group meeting and the nutritionist stressed the importance of one or two Protein Snacks. She said it is important to keep our metabolism going by constantly burning and digesting food. I forgot one of my favorite snacks are Protein Bars. They taste like candy to me and I figure they are better than candy because they have protein in them. I try to choose the ones that are high in protein and not carbs. Eating my three meals plus two snacks is what got me to goal. I don't count my evening snack of a SF Jello or sf popsicle as a snack either.

Is anyone on antidepressant medication since the surgery?
Oregondaisy replied to LAN2k's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am lucky that my gym has tvs in front of every single cardio machine. I couldn't do it without that. I plan my exercise around what I want to watch on tv. That, and I do weight training. I love the muscles that have been built from that. Discovering Zumba has also been a nice change. It's so much fun and doesn't feel like exercise at all. It's a great work out though. You're so smart Lis to identify your issues and find other avenues to work through them. You will be happy wearing smaller clothes and looking in the mirror seeing a much smaller version of yourself. It's so wonderful for the self esteem. You will find other things to occupy your thoughts and plans that don't revolve around food now that you're feeling better. For me, it's been dancing. I started dance lessons in Sept. and the first thing I noticed is there are no fat women in the classes or at the dances. you'll figure out what interests you, and get that insight that you're looking for. -
I am sure Dr. Aceves has removed plenty of realize bands. He is very experienced, and you have nothing to worry about in his care.

190 Degree turn around
Oregondaisy replied to lucygoose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am glad to hear you're doing better too! It always makes me so sad to read that people are having a rough recovery since I had it so easy. I am so glad to read that today you're feeling GREAT! -
What's up with all these men & sex addiction?
Oregondaisy replied to Bob_350lbs's topic in The Gals' Room
You have raised some good points. It's hard to imagine with all the addictions there are to choose from, that men would choose to cheat on their wives because they need that much sex. -
I really like laughing cow cheese. I like the little wedges and I get the light. I really like the laughing cow baby bell and I get the light in those too. those are easier to eat, because the wedges are more of a spread. I eat them on Kellogs Multi grain crackers which are higher in Fiber than most crackers and pretty low calorie for crackers. They are little and I only eat about 5 of them, so really it's not that many carbs. I gave up on regular yogurt because of the carb count. Greek yogurt is so much lower in carbs and higher in Protein, it's a much better choice. I sometimes put Protein powder in it, or PB2 or any of my sf syrups, divinchi or (sp?) I think the other brand is Torrini. I get those at a restaurant supply company that we have here. They are what they put in all those fancy coffee drinks that I don't drink. I also snack on almonds a lot. There are 100 calorie packs of chocolate dusted almonds that I really like. I also eat string cheese and I like the colby/jack better than cheddar that comes in sticks. There is a low fat one.

What Do the Protein Bullets Taste Like?
Oregondaisy replied to FreeToBeMe's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Collegen protein is made from boiled cow hide. That is what the protein bullets are made from. I guess if that's all you can stand, it is better than nothing. Myself, I wouldn't even try them. -
WAS THINKING BAND and NOW VSG?? HELP!!
Oregondaisy replied to TDELYTE's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I really feel bad for those people too who are so excited about getting the band. I wish they would take the band off the market. The doctors are making a fortune off the fills and unfills and the band can completely ruin the stomach to the point that a person can't even get a sleeve later if they want to! -
Is anyone on antidepressant medication since the surgery?
Oregondaisy replied to LAN2k's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am so happy to read that you are feeling better! Now you should feel good enough to exercise, and I am telling everyone, that is what got me off anti depressants this last 6 years. In March it will be 6 years that I joined my gym. Before that, I was on one anti depressant or another for over 20 years. -
I went out to dinner for my son's birthday tonight, and I was amazed at how much I could eat. At 9 months out, I can eat quite a bit more than I could in the beginning. I still eat small portions, but if I want to, I can eat a lot more than I normally do.

To Mexico or not To Mexico....
Oregondaisy replied to wannalise's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Dr. Aceves has done sleeve surgery on over half the people on this board. He is so great and so is his entire staff and the hospital where he does surgery. You get three nights in the hospital, one night in a very nice resort after you do all your tests at the hospital. They do an EKG, a chest xray, all sorts of blood work and you take all the test results and x ray home with you. You get picked up by a driver either at the San Diego airport or the Comfort Inn in San Diego and your entire experience will be wonderful. You'll have to call the number to the right of this screen to find out the price, but it's usually 9,000 or less. -
Come in and chat with me!

Dr. Aceves/Mexicali Travel Guide (New)
Oregondaisy replied to Joe's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Right, but if you look on a map, Mexicali is not a small town. -
Pb2 is a little gritty, but I would not call it chalky at all. I like sf peanut butter syrup better, actually.

what are you eating 2 months out?
Oregondaisy replied to hope4204's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You're doing fine Hope. Don't worry. Your sleeve is not going to let you eat too much. You think you're eating a lot, but try to remember how much you used to eat before you had sleeve surgery. As long as you're not pigging out on candy, and eating protein, you're not eating too much. Have you tried K20 protein water, SF gatoraide or sf poweraide instead of juice? I like Propel too and Snapple too. Snapple has some pretty good sf flavors. -
PB2 is dehydrated peanuts. You don't get all the fat in peanut butter. It's like a powder but it's not quite powdery. It says on the jar you can mix it with water and turn it into a peanut butter consistency. The Bell Plantation web site where you order it is supposed to have recipes for it.
-
I didn't know it came in chocolate. I mix the sf Peanut Butter syrup in my choc. shakes. I have pb 2 and I keep thinking I will mix it with Water and make it into peanut butter. When I ordered it, I accidentally ordered too much!

what are you eating 2 months out?
Oregondaisy replied to hope4204's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hope I am just glad to read that you're eating again! I remember eating a lot of chicken salad and egg salad at 2 months out. Dry chicken breast was hard to eat, so I stuck with moist foods. -
I read that on OH and I wish Mac was still posting here. she is a wealth of information! I liked all the information about vitamins.
-
Yeah, it's pretty nice that we only have to get one pizza now that I can only eat one piece instead of half a pizza!

Sleeve Plans dashed Insurance issues

I second that! Dr. Aceves is a fabulous doctor and I was thrilled with the care he and his staff gave me, along with over half the people on this board!
