Iron Supplements & Nausea
Oregondaisy replied to MidwestGirl's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
The reason you are supposed to take it with orange juice is iron is better absorbed with acid in the stomach. So, you can't take it within 2 hours of taking your acid preventor medication. -
Cool whip is pretty low calorie to begin with. low fat or fat free cool whip would work fine. I would try it with whatever flavor of sf pudding you like, and the ricotta cheese. Look in the food forum for ricotta bake and you'll find the recipe for the dessert one there. You can adjust the amount of pudding with whatever pudding you use. I think it calls for one box of chocolate and one box of the cheese cake flavor. Just use 2 boxes of whatever you want. I think choc. and the carmel one sounds wonderful! Greek yogurt is way more expensive than any other kind of yogurt. To me, it's worth it because the Protein count is so much higher and the carb count is so much lower.

There is a recipe somewhere that is fat free cool whip, sf choc. and sf cheese cake pudding and ricotta. It's in the food section with the ricotta bake..I just bought the ingredients to make that too. I am excited to try it. I am sure it would be good with any flavor of sf pudding.

Nexium, Hunger and my 2 cents
Oregondaisy replied to Keys Pirate's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You're welcome. It's weird that acid does not feel like heartburn but if feels like hunger. I was really surprised when I tried to go off my protonix and I noticed immediately that I felt like I was starving. Now I never miss it every morning. I like Protonix because the generic is so cheap and it's tiny and I only have to take it once per day. -
the premier are so convenient. I do use others that I mix with half water and half hood carb countdown milk. I like my stuff very chocolatley, so the hood choc. milk really adds to the flavor.
-
I take the generic of Protonix. It costs me $10. My dr. prescribed it to take twice a day, but I only take it once a day, so I get 60 of them for $10. It is an acid prventor, so I take it every morning. In my opinion, it's one of the best. It's also a very tiny pill.

Is anyone on antidepressant medication since the surgery?
Oregondaisy replied to LAN2k's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I agree that Zumba could not possibly be more fun. I absolutely love it and I am totally addicted! I even bought the official zumba clothes! -
i also really like the premier chocolate that you get from Costco. It's 30 grams of protein for each little rtd shake.

I get chewable calcium citrate from vitacost . They are sweet, but i chew them up fast and drink some water right after to help them go down. I think it's easier to chew them up than swallow horse pills.I liked the lemon chews a lot, but I am determined to chew up what I bought until I can get the chews that Tiffy is talking about.

Kinda shocked I did this
Oregondaisy replied to pumpkin07's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Honestly, when I was on the post op diet, I found it necessary to stay completely away from other people who were eating. it was much easier that way. I did my post op diet and avoided being around food or other people eating food. Why torture yourself? You;ll go back to eating normal food in a little while. until then, find other things to do with friends that don't involve eating with them. That really saved me from feeling deprived and left out. -
Can someone analyze what I'm eating pls?
Oregondaisy replied to tennessee1031's topic in Food and Nutrition
yes, you should be on an acid reducer. Acid in your stomach does not necessarily feel like heart burn. It feels like hunger. When I tried to go off my acid reducer/preventor, I felt like I was starving all the time. -

Oregondaisy replied to pumpkin07's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It does get better and so much easier. Honestly, I eat anything I want. I am thrilled with the sleeve and I never feel deprived. I am going on a cruise soon, and I am wondering if I will miss being able to stuff myself with all the good food there will be there, but being able to wear a hot little dress and not being a fat lady will be so worth it! -
Are you on an acid reducer? Acid feels just like feeling hungry feels. It doesn't necessarily feel like heart burn. I tried to go off mine, and I felt like I was starving all the time.

Is anyone on antidepressant medication since the surgery?
Oregondaisy replied to LAN2k's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I love my lap top! It's the best thing I could have bought for myself. I like that I can have it in any room of the house, and take it with me when I go out of town. I hope you get this resolved soon.I think taking a class is a great idea. It's a great way to meet people and make new friends. -
My worst day thus far... feel like I'm starving...
Oregondaisy replied to youknowit's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I eat anything I want to eat. I do eat raw carrots, chips, everything you mentioned, without any problems. That's the great thing about the sleeve. Certain foods won't go through the band, but we have a normal stomach, just a smaller one. I am past the losing stage though. Maybe they say not to eat chips if you are trying to lose weight. -
Unjury Unflavored Protein
Oregondaisy replied to excited2lose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
yes, I am pretty sure you have to get it online. You can get GNC unflavored whey protein. It's their own brand. It's basically the same thing. -
My worst day thus far... feel like I'm starving...
Oregondaisy replied to youknowit's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was hungry on the clear liquid stage. Sorry, Stuck, the ghrelin does take a little while to leave the body. When I got hungry, I just drank more Protein and that took care of it. The protein bullets are not going to satisfy you because it's poor protein. You need whey protein. It's collegen protein. Go to the food forum and look for a page called something like "places to order samples" Or go to GNC and see if they will let you sample some different Proteins that you can tolerate to get you through this stage. -
Come in and chat with me!
Oregondaisy replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am going to watch Survivor and all my other favorite Thursday shows. Until then, does anyone want to talk? It's only 5:30 here on the Oregon coast, so I'll be around for almost 3 more hours. Anyone else not busy in another time zone? I'll leave the window open and wait for the door bell to ring! -
What does "slimes" mean?
Oregondaisy replied to tennessee1031's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I would not call it phylem. It's more like thick spit. Your mouth just keeps filling up and you have to spit it out. It can go on for quite awhile. -
WLS Cookbook - Low Fat High Protein
Oregondaisy replied to Tiffykins's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Maybe you could post a couple recipes after you try them out? I don't cook enough to buy a cook book, funny as that might sound. I don't like messing up the kitchen just for me. -
Need some positive energy, cause I'm really starting to regret this decision :(
Oregondaisy replied to Kai's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
People say drinking something warm (especially in the morning)relaxes things inside. There are a lot of people who stayed on liquids longer and progressed through the food stages slower until things got easier. It will get better. It may just take you more time, but it will get better. -
What Do the Protein Bullets Taste Like?
Oregondaisy replied to FreeToBeMe's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
whey Protein is so much better and easier to absorb than collegen. I've heard so many nutritionists and doctors say if you can't get protein any other way, it's the last recourse. I hate cottage cheese, but I would rather eat that than collegen protein, but each to their own. I bought unflavored whey protein from GNC when I was on my post op diet. It can be mixed in all sorts of stuff. -

There was definitely a time I could not say that. I sat home in front of the tv all the time and nothing interests me. There are so many advantages to being thinner! -

Hello... I'm getting a revision :)
Oregondaisy replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I was at my local support group last night and so many people were there who were all excited about getting the band surgery. I so wanted to tell them they were making a mistake. I am glad you'll be getting a revision! You'll lose all the weight you want to lose and the sleeve makes it quite easy!
