VSG & Chest/Sinus cold/infections
Oregondaisy replied to Tiffykins's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I think that GB surgery lowered our resistance. You know I had that cold, horse voice and ear infection for weeks. I have been taking echinacea which is supposed to strengthen the immune system. I swear by that stuff! -
Look for Davinci or torini brand of sf syrups. they are what people use to make espresso coffee drinks. They come in many, many flavors.

Advice for Road Trip
Oregondaisy replied to MINI-Me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I really never stopped eating them other than on my post op diet. I like the Oh Yeah, choc. mint. They are kind of like a kit kat bar. They come in all sorts of other flavors too. I also eat the atkins caramel nougat ones, and the premier from Costco are so big so I only half of one of those at a time. -
Considering Revision-?s on Weight loss Resistance
Oregondaisy replied to katinhouston's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Proper adjustments? That means a bunch of fills and unfills. Who needs that? I hope you get the sleeve. You'll have perfect restriction all the time. -
i am doing things right!

That's great Hope! I hope you feel well enough soon to come back to chat! -
Way to go! I love my sleeve too!
-
That's what I do too. I am 2 hours away from Costco so I have to buy the Brown Cow brand. The plain is much lower in calories and carbs so I use the sf syrups too. I have put jam in there and protein powder too.

There is a walmart brand of the magic bullet that is much cheaper. I use mine every day. They are great.

I am lucky in my little hick town to find Greek Yogurt at all. Our Walmart had Brown Cow brand, and Safeway has started carrying Fage. The Fage is expensive though. It's 1.99 for a 6oz container. Since it's so popular, I am hoping more stores are going to start carrying other brands of Greek yogurt. Tiff, seriously, you were still losing when you didn't want to, so I doubt if those few carbs are going to cause you any trouble.

Tiff did you send a PM to Alex or either of the Susans? I haven't tried to get in there today. A little while ago, I was wondering why I didn't try to log on, but I guess there would have been no point!

Nexium, Hunger and my 2 cents
Oregondaisy replied to Keys Pirate's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
you're welcome! I know people have been told to be on it at least 6 months, but I am going on 10 months, and every time I try to go off of it, I feel like I am starving all the time. When I am on it, I am never hungry. Now, I don't plan on going off of it. My PCP has told me I have no reason to ever go off of it. -
Is anyone on antidepressant medication since the surgery?
Oregondaisy replied to LAN2k's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm glad you got your net book Lis! You deserve to do nice things for yourself! I think as you lose weight and the depression eases up, you'll have more energy. Working out can be addicting because you will feel so good when you're done! -
you aren't supposed to take more than your body can absorb at one time. So, it would be pointless to take one pill that had your entire daily requirement all at once. I've been told that you can only absorb 500 mg at one time.

Is anyone on antidepressant medication since the surgery?
Oregondaisy replied to LAN2k's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Nope, doesn't help at all with that! You can go to the zumba website. It's kind of expensive, but my zumba instructor gets a discount and passes it on to us. I have 2 zumba t shirts. For sweating, I put a wash cloth in my waist band and wipe my face with it frequently. I found that easier than running over to the corner to get my towel to wipe my face. A wash cloth takes up much less room and I can keep it right with me. -

You're very welcome. I am glad I could help! -
go to the food section of this board and look for a thread called places to order samples. I would not get a big tub of anything. There are so many people who like something okay before surgery and can't gag it down after surgery. I really like PVL whey Gourmet that you get from Netrition.com. I also really like BSN Lean Dessert Fudge pudding. I get that at vitacost.com You need to try samples first though!

Battle of the flab
Oregondaisy replied to JudyJudyJudy's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I wish I could afford it. It's just too much money for something I can cover up with clothes. My skin is not that bad, other than my arms and boobs. I think the fact that I had a lot of muscle built up before I had surgery was a big help. My thighs are good, my tummy is not all that bad. I just have no boobs left, and I would love to get a face lift. I've heard the arms leave a horrible scar. By the way, my DD was 25 when she had RNY and her skin never came back, so I don't think being young has anything to do with it. -

I agree with Judy. It will come off. Your body is just protesting that you've lost 14 lbs in a month. Our bodies like to get used to the new weight before it decides to give anymore up. Just keep doing what you're doing and you'll lose it. The sleeve does work for everyone who does not eat candy, junk food and suck down milkshakes, etc. -
I ate pizza for the first time since surgery..mixed emotions..
Oregondaisy replied to twobluecats's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I eat pizza once a week. I take my kids out to pizza every week. I can eat one piece. I love it. I love watching them polish off an entire pizza and I feel completely satisfied and full from one piece. The sleeve is so great! There is nothing to feel guilty about. I would feel bad if I was able to eat more than that, or if I sat there and watched them eat, wishing I could eat more. I just don't. I am very happy with my one piece, once a week. It's a normal sized slice and sometimes I do have to eat only the toppings off the last little bit. My question is, how do you get that Papa Murphys crispy? I have gotten that kind before, and it's soggy. -

Don't worry. The difference between living with the sleeve and the band is like night and day. For me, losing weight after I had my band taken out and got sleeved was pretty effortless. You will love the sleeve. -
