I'm losing my hair!!!!!
Oregondaisy replied to Kikiphiasmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Stuck, I lost most of my weight with the band too. I lost lots of hair with band surgery and lots more with sleeve surgery, even though I hadn't gained that much back so I didn't have much weight to lose this time either. Maybe since you didn't lose hair with band surgery, you won't this time either. Hope, there is no way to know. My friend had sleeve surgery a week after me, and she didn't lose nearly as much hair as I have. -

I will report back after I eat dinner at his house tomorrow. He has a hot tub and I am thinking of telling him I am bringing my bathing suit. I have these little shorts that I wear over my suit. I thought they looked pretty cute on me last summer. I tried them on cause I am going on a cruise soon, and they are almost falling off me. It feels good! Gotta love the sleeve! -
Lap Band going Sleeve
Oregondaisy replied to Misspeesh's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wish they would take that stinkin band off the market. I feel so bad for all the people when I go to my support group and they are all excited about getting a band. The best thing I ever did was have it taken out and getting the sleeve. I wish I had gotten the sleeve first, but I didn't know about it then. -
I buy flax seed at the health food store and grind them in a coffee grinder. I love them too. I put it in my yogurt, and in my protein shakes and anything else I think of.

ZUMBA- where have you been all my life????
Oregondaisy replied to filodough's topic in Fitness & Exercise
my daughter is off getting certified to become a Zumba instructor. We both love it so much! Now she will be able to do it for free. The gym is paying her travel expenses and Zumba certification. We can't get enough of it! -
Is chewing gum a problem after sleeve?
Oregondaisy replied to Grateful Heart's topic in Food and Nutrition
I am a gum chewer as well. Just make absolutely sure you don't swallow it! -
you are going to love it there! They all treat their patients so well and Dr. Campos is sleeved too. I didn't need any help as I felt just great by the time I got home from the hospital. I hope you do too. Things to have when you get home, are sf popsicles, and hopefully you'll be able to stand some sort of protien drink to get some Protein post op. A lot of people don't like Isopure, but it's full of protein and I didn't think it was all that bad. It's not anything I would want long term, but for 10 days on clear liquid, I could handle it. Feel free to send me a PM if you have any other questions. I adore Dr. Aceves and everyone at that hospital. I would love to go back just for a visit!

I know I would really have hurt feelings if he looked at me differently after having WLS. Especially since he should know you inside and not just the outside. I've been dating a new guy. He is very funny and has a great personality but I don't find him attractive. I am trying to over look that though because he is a great guy and I know he will treat me very well. I also have another guy writing to me. I met these 2 on a new site called speed dating where you can live chat for 3 min but I told them both to find me on plentyoffish.com I haven't been hearing very much from the guy that lives 3 hours away. I am not really sure why he stopped calling so much. The one I am now dating invited me to dinner at his house friday night. I've eaten with him twice and it's not easy. I am thinking about telling him about the surgery. I don't really want to, but it would sure make things easier. It feels really good to have guys paying attention to me. I wish I would have had this surgery years ago! -

Is my bougie size too big?
Oregondaisy replied to HEARTONMYSLEEVE's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The difference between a 32 and a 36 really isn't that much. If you eat right and don't pig out on sugar and junk food, you will lose weight just like you have a 32. -
I'm losing my hair!!!!!

I used Nioxin shampoo and conditioner for 6 months after surgery and it didn't do anything for me, other than dry out my hair. -

Oregondaisy replied to filodough's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't make Protein drinks with milk. I make them with Water or Half Hood Carb Countdown chocolate milk and half water. I didn't eat fruit when I was in the losing stage. I basically ate meat, cheese, eggs, and for snacks had sf popsicles or sf fudgesicles, or almonds. Almonds are very low carb. I started eating the Atkins way since the 1970's. I have been counting carbs all of my life. Believe me, it can be done. Once you get the carbs out of your life and out of your diet, it's pretty easy actually. Now that I am at goal, I eat anything I want. If I gain a couple of lbs, I go back to eating carb free and lose it immediately. -
Am I the only one wanting sweet liquids???
Oregondaisy replied to MINI-Me's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Every single Protein drink that people say are too sweet for them are my favorites. All the ones that people say they like, I find taste really bland to me. So I would say, that I have not lost my sweet tooth at all. Being deficient in Vit D can cause sweet cravings, by the way. I have upped my vit D, but from the last tests I took, it was still low. -
dealing with a breakup, stress and a stall

I haven't seen my bf who broke my heart last August, but I'd love to see him while I am out on a date with someone else, now that I am a size 8! -
I'm losing my hair!!!!!
Oregondaisy replied to Kikiphiasmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been told by others that they took all these things as well, and that it did not help. Hair loss is normal for weight loss surgery. If you read online about hair loss, it says it comes from a shock to the body, such as surgery, or weight loss. Everyone can try any supplements that they wish to try to prevent it, but I've read in other forums about people taking all these things, and lost hair anyway. -
There are a few of us in the chat room if anyone wants to talk!

How many carbs are you eating per day
Oregondaisy replied to filodough's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you get plain Greek yogurt, there are way less carbs and you can sweeten it with sf syrups. Look for the Torini or Da Finchi brand of SF syrups that they use to flavor coffee. They have zero carbs! -

I know how you feel. I was pretty upset when my bf and I broke up. You just have to concentrate on getting skinny and being able to wear cute clothes. Going to the gym is the best way to deal with stress. -
How many carbs are you eating per day
Oregondaisy replied to filodough's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've always kept my carbs at around 30 per day. Now that I am at goal, I can eat more, but I could never lose if I had more than that per day. Check out the food forum under ricotta bake. There is a ricotta cheese recipe that calls for sf pudding, cool whip , and ricotta cheese that's good. I also eat sf popsicles, the sf pudding Jello or swiss miss brand, sf fudgesiles for Snacks. -
I'm losing my hair!!!!!
Oregondaisy replied to Kikiphiasmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My dr. told me it would stop at 9 months and I have to say at 9 months it really slowed down. I still lose hair when I wash it, but nothing like before. I've always lost hair even before surgery when I washed it, so I'd say now it's just normal. The hair loss was bad for me between 4-9 months. I have short hairs coming in all over the place now. I took the zinc and Biotin from day one, and upped my Protein and those things did not seem to help. -
heating pad is helpful if you have pain in your shoulder from gas or just want to put it on your tummy. A lot of people swear by Gas X although it did nothing for me. Sf popsicles are a must! there are a lot of sf drinks out there now that are good. I like propel, sf poweaide and gatoraide, sf snapple, crystal lite, and most stores have their own brand of that. Sf Hawaiian punch is good too. I put unflavored Protein Powder in all that stuff when I was on the liquid stage. You can also blend cottage cheese into tomato soup to give it some Protein. Soy slender is a soy milk that is good and not full of calories or sugar. It's on the shelf, not in the fridge. K2o protein Water is another good one.

The Greek yogurt with fruit already mixed in is going to be higher in carbs but it's so yummy. Shyone, If you have a costco, I've been told you can buy quarts of it there pretty cheap. A lot of people really like the brand Fage. That's why I buy the plain and mix in sf syrups most of the time, to keep the carb count down. The plain is also higher in Protein.

I get the Oh Yeah bars from vitacost.com. It seems to be where I get everything from . Where do you get the Quest bars?
-
I am not sure because I got mine as a gift. I would look in the appliance section for any type of mini blender. generally, the Greek yogurt is the only one that is low carb. If you get the plain, you can add sugar free syrup with zero carbs to make it tasty.
