did they do an ultasound on your gall bladder to be sure?

What does hungry feel like to you? Is it that feeling in your mind like "I wish I had something to eat' or "That really sounds good" or is it your stomach growling and aching?

Is this really gonna work?
Oregondaisy replied to wannalise's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you are having pain and sliming, you are taking too big of bites and not chewing your food well enough. When you take very small bites and chew really well, you can eat more, much more than 5 bites, and not slime. We will never be able to eat the portions that we did before surgery, but that is why we had this surgery. -
the chat room is starting to become popular finally! I am leaving the chat window open while I fool around on my lap top, so if anyone wants to talk, click on the chat button at the top!

Anyone want to talk this evening? I am opening the chat window just in case!

Is this really gonna work?
Oregondaisy replied to wannalise's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I couldn't agree more. There are days when I eat all day long, but it's healthy stuff like almonds or cheese. There are other days when I don't think about eating at all. I finally remember that I need to eat some Protein so I do. Not having the ghrelin makes all the difference in the world! -
Ideas on getting protein in during Clear Liquid phase???
Oregondaisy replied to KerriFr's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I mixed GNC's brand of unflavored protein powder with all the sugar free liquids I was allowed to have. -
Daily Calorie Total for those of you 6+ months out
Oregondaisy replied to ash's topic in Food and Nutrition
Honestly, I have never counted calories. I count Protein and carbs and that is how I lost 100 lbs. I still go to support group and I always hear that as long as you don't over load on carbs, you will keep losing. Now that I am at nearly a year post op, I eat anything I want. I gained 8 lbs on my recent cruise and I've already lost it. I was worried it would be difficult to take back off, but once I got back to my same eating habits, it fell right back off. -
yes, I got pancreatitis when I ignored my gall bladder pain thinking it was something else. I ended up in the hospital with nothing by mouth , not even water for 4 days before they could remove my gall bladder

I'll try to get into chat early when I get home from work. I have to watch survivor at 8:00 and I'm not sure if Grey's Anatomy is a rerun tonight or not. The difference in time across the country makes it difficult sometimes for all of to connect in the chat room. If anyone is new to chat, it's easy to keep the chat window open and do other things. I listen for the doorbell while I do other things online, and then I can tell when someone enters the chatroom.

I am happy to report I have already lost 5 of the 9 lbs I gained on my vacation. I am really happy about that. I love the sleeve so much!

Let's get this singles forum going!

Way to go Chancie! I say see both of them. You're free to date anyone you want until you decide what to do, which is exactly what I am doing! I spent 4 hours in a hot tub last night with one of them, and it was really nice. The stars and moon were just beautiful, and I found out he's a darn good kisser! Yay! I am going to see the other one for lunch tomorrow. -
Need help looking for a good doctor in mexico
Oregondaisy replied to NJKILLA31's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
It just seems really strange to me that the posts and threads from people who had bad experiences with Dr. Almanza were removed from this board. Now people could say that negative threads about Dr. Aceves were removed too, but I never saw any. I check the new posts every day. The negative threads about Dr. Almanza were on here for awhile before they were removed. Since more than half this board are patients of Dr. Aceves, it would seem that if anyone had a bad experience, it would have been posted and stayed on here for us to see, before being removed. I have never seen anything negative posted about Dr. Aceves, only praise. -

Oregondaisy replied to NJKILLA31's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I looked on your link and could not find anything written about Dr. Aceves having a death. Are you sure you meant Dr. Aceves? He has not had any deaths to my knowledge and I would like to read about it, if he did. -
I am almost one year post op. I just got back from a Caribbean cruise where food was everywhere. I ate anything I wanted. It's a little bit difficult to eat much meat if you eat bread when the bread basket comes, when eating out. You have to pick and choose what to eat because your portion is going to be small. I don't have a problem with the changes in my eating habits. I take my kids to pizza once a week. I can eat one piece of pizza. I am very satisfied with that and I don't feel badly watching them polish off the rest of the pizza because I am full. I think it's more common than a small percentage of us that become lactose intollerant after the surgery. I can eat yogurt and cheese just fine, but drinking more than a few sips of milk gives me gas and diarrhea. If I haven't answered all your questions, just let me know. The changes in my life are so worth it. I love wearing cute clothes again and being able to do things that there is no way I could have done, without losing 100 lbs.

Mexico vs. US surgery
Oregondaisy replied to Lynn'sTwins's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
People have accused me of working for Dr. Aceves because I recommend him so highly. Over half of the people on this board have gone to him, and he could not hire all of us to prise him as much as we do, or he would go broke. I have a friend who lives in Phonix which is only a 4 hr. drive to Mexicali and she is a nurse. She has watched him in surgery many times. It's because of her that I went to him. I respect her opinion and I knew she would not steer me wrong. I don't think it would be possible for everyone on this board and Obesityhelp.com to praise him so highly and have not one person say one bad thing about him, if it were not all true. -
Questions! Questions! Questions!
Oregondaisy replied to geniseg_2000's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
go to lapbandtalk.com and scroll down and read the complications section. I can tell you from experience, that living with a lap band is pure misery. People love it at first, but eventually, the complications set in. -

You will not find one unhappy person who went to Dr. Aceves. Half of the people on this board have gone to him and we all love him, the hospital there, and all of his staff. He may not be the cheapest, but you get what you pay for. If you put his name in the search up at the top, you can read about everyone who went there and what they have to say. -
That about sums it up! I had my drain removed right before I went home. No stiches though! That one did take the longest to heal but it was not a big deal. I haven't had any need for any medical aftercare. I told my doctor about the sleeve and he did a lot of blood work, and I am slightly anemic. I think it's because I quit eating red meat. I know it's natural to be nervous, but you'll be treated wonderfully there. Dr. Campos is sleeved and he will be the best one to answer any questions you may have. Dr. Aceves is really great and very patient about explaining anything you want to know too.

congratulations! that is a huge accomplishment!

Weight lost? - Formula
Oregondaisy replied to SParkle's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I don't even know what my bmi is. I had a pre op bmi of 40 and now I weigh 133 (or at least I did before my cruise,:thumbup1: will weigh when I get home) I know I am a size 8 now and at 57 years old, I don't want to weigh any less than I do. I think it's pretty easy to lose 100% of your excess weight, and I know many people that have done that! -
700 sleeves and no leaks
Oregondaisy replied to cajun's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For the record, there is not one person on this board who feels they did not get great care at the hospital in Mexicali and by Dr. Aceves and Dr. Campos. More than half the people on this board have gone there, and I think that speaks volumes. Every single one of us keeps recommending them over and over. for whomever asked about price, there is an 800# on the side of this board with Dr. Aceves' number on it. I do know they charge a little bit less in the summer because it's so hot in Mexicali so they run a special. If you have a band, it's a little bit more expensive to have the band removed and have sleeve surgery done. -
Thank you! I hope I don't go back to letting my sweet tooth get the best of me. I seem to be one of the only person sleeved who still craves sweets all the time, and it's been pretty crazy to let myself have all the dessert I wanted day or night this past week. It might be hard to control when I get home.

Oregondaisy replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Chancie you haven't been posting as much so I have been wondering how things have been going for the two of you. I really hope it works out for you! I am still dating 2 guys now and it's getting tricky in such a small town. I have to decide which one I like better but there are things I like about both of them. If I could put the two of them together, I'd have a great guy! I don't feel badly about dating two guys at the same time yet because I am not having sex with either of them yet. I am still in the getting to know each other phase with both of them. It's weird for me cause I haven't had guys pay attention to me in years. It makes me sad that we are the same person inside as we always have been, but guys only look on the outside first, before giving us a chance. -
3 months post surgery and H Pylori Positive!
Oregondaisy replied to LAN2k's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wish I did know why we will always test positive for it from now on. I know when I did the stool test, I didn't have it anymore. That does not mean you can't pick it up again though. I wash my fruit that I eat with skins on or anything else people have handled, but I've been told that rinsing with Water is not enough to get the bacteria off the food. I don't usually wash food with soap and water though and I was even told to rinse it in water with a capful of bleach to get rid of bacteria! The pain I get on my right side when I do have it caused me to not recognize the pain I got from a gall bladder attack. The pain was in the same spot, and I was thinking I had H Pylori again!
