Chancie I can't believe how much weight you have lost! Way to go losing nearly 200 lbs! I do wish you luck! I hope the two of you figure out what it's going to take to make this work. It would be so great to travel like that! There has to be a reason the two of you can't seem to say good bye to each other. There is something there and I hope you get to go on one of his trips with him some day. It sounds like spending more time together would help the two of you figure this out.

Anyone want to chat tonight?

Is it too late to talk? -
I waited to tell guys until I decided if I was going to need to tell them. It was a problem eating around them but I managed to stay under cover until I decided I would be eating around them a lot more often. For me it's on a need to know basis. Most people don't know I had surgery. I recently told the guy I am seeing now cause we've been dating a couple of months now. He's been great about it. He said there are so many people having WLS these days, that it is not a big deal.I was kind of embarrassed when he saw some old pictures of me at my daughter's house.

Gall bladder problems after surgery?
Oregondaisy replied to want2lose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had mine out 7 months after surgery. I got really sick from ignoring or not recognizing the gall bladder issues. It's pretty common for people to have their gall bladder out after any kind of WLS. -
Trying to make a decsion between VSG/RNY
Oregondaisy replied to sunnidaz's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The malabsorption can be very dangerous. You are looking at being diligent at remembering to take all sorts of Vitamins and supplements for the rest of you life if you choose RNY. I know some people who have gotten very sick from slacking off on taking them. Another advantage of the sleeve is that they use the muscular part of the stomach when they do the sleeve and it does not stretch out nearly as much as the stomach/pouch they make for an RNY. -
I love all these NSV that everyone is experiencing! We are all so awesome!

Wow Chancie, it's too bad you can't just go with him. It would be great to be able to travel like that. Have you thought about next time you have some vacation time being able to spend more time with him?

Why does my stomach react to sweet things?

You can have mixed drinks when you are healed. Just expect to feel it a lot quicker. -
One Year ago today!
Oregondaisy replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Thank you everyone! I hope everyone reaches their goals and is always as happy as I am with their decision to permanently remove the majority of their stomach. I really envy all those that are getting sleeved so much earlier in their lives but even at 57 years old, I am thrilled not to spend one more year obese. Yay Sleeve! -
Chancie I am seeing a guy and we are getting really close. He tells me all the time how afraid he is, and I tell him I am too. Maybe you can get him to open up and talk about what is causing him to only go so far without then putting the breaks on. Mike and I keep telling each other how really important communication is and we really try to communicate until we get the other one to understand what we are thinking or feeling.

Am I stupid..hmmm
Oregondaisy replied to TiffanyIsMajor's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I should probably add that the times I felt over full were way past the post op diet phase. I followed the post op diet to the letter, and stayed on mushies and liquids longer than I was supposed to just because it was more comfortable. -
Don't worry. You will find love again and you will be thrilled with your new body and your new life. It just takes awhile to get used to this new life.

My latest NSV is that my bf spilled chocolate all over my pants. He said I might as well throw them in the wash. So there I sat, in my black lace bikini panties feeling good that my stomach is flat and there was no belly hanging over the bikini panties. No more granny panties for me!

Why does my stomach react to sweet things?
Oregondaisy replied to mb20mom's topic in Food and Nutrition
Regular milk gives me gas pains and diarrhea. I can one scoop of ice cream but anymore than that, it's the same thing. It's not the same for me now that I have been sleeved for a year. It used to be sugar and fat would cause me problems, now I would have to pretty much pig out on a huge portion to feel that same heart racing, nausea along with the diarrhea. It's weird. It rarely happens anymore. -
Mexicali and Dr. Aceves Tests Tomorrow!
Oregondaisy replied to imwendylou's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You can try putting the crushed up pills into some sort of liquid like crystal lite. I started taking all my small pills at 2 weeks post op. I'm glad you're home an on the road to recovery and weightloss! I am glad it was easy for you an everything went well! -
I definitely wish I had done this years ago instead of wasting so many years being fat. As long as you understand that you will always be eating tiny little meals for the rest of your life, I am sure you are not too young.

Am I stupid..hmmm
Oregondaisy replied to TiffanyIsMajor's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I was first sleeved, I had a really hard time telling when I was full. If I ate until I was full, I felt like I was going to burst 20 min later and it was very uncomfortable for at least an hour. I learned to stop before I felt full. Honestly, if you could break a staple or develop a leak from overeating, I would have done it.It hurt so bad to be that full, but I did learn to stop way before that feeling. Eating with the sleeve is a learning experience. -
Why does my stomach react to sweet things?
Oregondaisy replied to mb20mom's topic in Food and Nutrition
That is what my dr. told me too. I had all those horrible symptoms and he said it was from the stomach being so small that things don't stay in there very long and it feels the same as dumping. -
I have days where I eat a lot of junk food. I try not to beat myself up over it because I also have days where all I eat is protein and a little bit of veggies and that is all I desire on that day. Some days are different than others, and you won't want to eat candy every day, believe me!

Why does my stomach react to sweet things?
Oregondaisy replied to mb20mom's topic in Food and Nutrition
Tiff, I have definitely dumped. It doesn't happen nearly as much as it did when I was first sleeved. I asked the dr. about it and he said that it's because our stomachs are so small that the sugar enters our bloodstream a lot faster. I had all the symptoms that you described and it's horrible. The worst time was when I had a piece of wedding cake that had thick frosting on it. I don't know if that is what is going on with mb20mom because the sensations she is describing are not the same. I think you should describe it to your doctor MB20Mom. -
Any "long term" sleevers?

tomorrow I will have my sleeve for one year! Having my band out and getting my sleeve was the smartest and best thing I've ever done for myself!
