  1. Way to go Hope! you had a hard recovery in the beginning and I am so glad that's all behind you. You will be at goal in no time!
  2. Carol I don't have any words of wisdom for you but I can tell you it does get better. I guess I just got used to the size of the portion I could have, and told myself if I still wanted more, I could have a few more bites in an hour. Most of the time, in an hour, I was still so full, I forgot about whatever it was that I wished I could have. I do have Snacks and I don't deny myself to having only a certain amount of calories per day. I eat my Protein first, until I am full, and I have 2 healthy snacks per day, and it works just fine.

SFOTraveler You have nothing to fear if you choose to have surgery in Mexico with Dr. Aceves. There are many many of us on here who had surgery with him, and we can all tell you how wonderful they treat you. Dr. Aceves is more experienced and skilled than most doctors in the United States.

    Worried about post op diet

It was not hard at all to not eat on the post op diet. I had no desire to eat. Most people feel like they have to force the liquids down so they don't get dehydrated. There are still days now where nothing sounds good and I have a Protein drink because I know I need the protein. Today was a day like that.

I think board shorts over the swim suit look adorable. I have 2 swim suits now and 2 pair of board shorts. It feels really good not to freak out over wearing a swim suit anymore. It's too bad it's too cold here to put one on. I would imagine I'll go somewhere warm this summer though.

Let's get this singles forum going!

I am 57 and I just went dancing. I have a dance class every wednesday night and one of the adorable little girls in the class who is 25 wanted to go out after class. I thought why not? My bf is busy with his kids and I love to dance. I went to a bar, and I haven't been to a bar in YEARS. I had all these guys asking me to dance and I had so much fun. One of them walked me to my car and gave me a rose. You really aren't going to believe the changes that will come in your life when you lose the weight. It's sad, but true, that most guys aren't interested in overweight women. I am having so much fun these days being thin. It bums me out that I wasted so many years being fat, but better late than never. One of these guys said he was probably too old for me cause I was probably around 30 and he was close to 40. I just laughed at him and told him I was older than him and he didn't believe me. The sleeve is Life Changing!
  9. I got this from obesityhelp.com There is some good information here that I haven't seen in other articles about stalls. Click! Low Carb Diet Tips & Basics - Weight Loss Stalls and Plateaus

That is so great! I haven't weighed what I weigh now for over 20 years. I wish I had gotten this surgery years ago!
  13. I've had my sleeve a year now and I don't think it has stretched much. Post surgery, of course, I could only eat a few bites. Now I can eat a chicken thigh, or one piece of pizza, or one taco. I don't feel that I can eat too much at all. The 2oz is only for a couple of months while on the post op diet. There were some people on obestiyhelp.com who did a test with cottage cheese to see how much they could hold, and some of them were 2 years post op. Most of them could only eat 4 oz at the most. I can't do that test cause I hate cottage cheese!

    OhYeah! Protein Drinks

You can get a case of muscle milk light at costco for around $22. I really like it!

I had some bad experiences with people not looking like their pictures. I met one with no teeth as well. He was smiling with him mouth closed in his picture. I also met one who got really drunk when we went to dinner and then called me afterwards and was very degrading on the phone. Fortunately, I have also met some very nice guys online too, including the one I am seeing now!

    OhYeah! Protein Drinks

I love the oh yeah Protein bars. I get the choc. mint and the choc. Peanut Butter at vitacost.com. I figure it's better than eating candy, even though it tastes like you're eating candy. I didn't know they made a RTD Protein Drink. I say if you like them, drink them. It's better than not getting in enough protein. I get the RTD muscle milk light at costco.I really like that too.

    Fast food

I usually just order a grilled chicken thigh from KFC and at Taco bell I've had just one crunchy taco. This is crazy compared to how much fast food I used to eat.

    Unflavored Proteins

I put unflavored protein powder in anything I could find that was sugar free. There is a Hawaiian punch that is sf, and sf gatoraide and power aide, besides the Walmart brand of crystal lite. I used the cranberry raspberry flavor.

What are you doing to get moving today?

This is my normal week of how I exercise: Monday no exercise. It's the only day that I work all day. Tuesday morning Zumba then some ab work, and some weight training. Wednesday Group power, (a weight training class) and ab work. Thursday Zumba and abs. (I try to do my abs every day, other than Mondays) Friday weight training then 30-45 minutes of the elliptikill or half of that time split between that and the treadmill. Saturday mornings is another Group power class with Zumba afterwards. Sunday I do some serious weight lifting and cardio with the elliptikill and the treadmill. Some days I skip the gym and go on a long hike with a friend. This has been my exercise routine for at least the past 6 years other than Zumba which is fairly new. I've been doing the weight training for the past 6 years which is when I joined the gym. Before Zumba, I did the stair master 20 min. the eilliptikill for 20 min and the treadmill for 20 min. Even though I did all this exercise, before WLS I did not lose any weight at all.
  20. I had my sleeve surgery one year ago today! It's just been the best year I could imagine. I love not being fat and I have been maintaining at goal for over 6 months. My last pair of jeans that I bought is a size 6 and the top I bought was a small. I've gone from a 3 X to a SMALL! I am so glad somebody invented sleeve surgery!:thumbup1::thumbup::biggrin0:

You're really close to your goal too Lan. I looked at your pictures and you look great!

    One Year ago today!

Sometimes I feel like I can eat more, then there are other days that a few bites fill me up. Maintaining is very easy for me. I am bad about eating junk food, but I weigh every day. If I gain a couples lbs, I am right back to eating right and it is gone the next day. I gained 8 lbs on a 10 day cruise and lost it all in a week.

  25. Mhopkins, the only way I made it through my post op diet was to stay away from anyone who was eating. You are being so strong and I hope you are giving yourself all the credit you deserve! Protecting your staple line is very important at this stage but you will be able to eat anything some day. Keep on staying strong! We are proud of you.
