Are you going to AlAnon meetings? I have heard from many people that these support groups are very helpful to the families of alcoholics. I am glad your husband is getting the help he needs. I hope things go well and your family heals.

Oregondaisy replied to jennymac's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I had a desk job and I was out of work less than a week. Dr. Aceves is very skilled at doing revision surgery. He did many of the revisions of people on this board! -

Just a little advice.

I've been off mine for over a week now. sometimes my stomach is quite painful. I am going to call Dr. Aceves again and find out if it's really worth it to go through all this discomfort to get off of it. It's not only heartburn, but sometimes my stomach just aches. -
My latest NSV has to do with my dancing. I have posted that I started ball room dance classes last September. They are so much fun. Lately after our Wednesday lessons, a group of us have gone to a bar so we can dance some more. I have never been big into bars and I don't drink but I do love to dance. The past few times I have gone, I am not even in there 5 minutes before I have some guy wanting to buy me drinks and asking me to dance. This just seems so odd to me. Years ago when I use to go out, I felt like the biggest wall flower sitting around watching everyone else have fun.

I was sleeved by Dr.Aceves a year ago. He is a very skilled surgeon with much experience doing vertical sleeve surgery. If you would like, I could email you all of his credentials. -

Thank you very much for sharing your story and bravery for coming forward to save anyone who is unsure where to go and have their sleeve surgery. People need to be informed on what is possible. -
How much food can you really eat?
Oregondaisy replied to JillianMarie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Went out to dinner last night. I had most of my salad. Lettuce chews down to nothing so I can eat a lot of salad. I ate all my veggies and about 2/3 of my teriaki (sp?) steak. -
Kicking my PPI - Day 7...

I am having more heartburn today.I took some gavescon, as Dr. Aceves recommended. I hope this only goes on another week. That is what he thought. -
I am loving my sleeve too
Oregondaisy replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I can't eat anything really spicy right now. I am trying my best to get off my PPI which I was supposed to go off of at 6 months and I couldn't because of severe heartburn. I am doing pretty well after being off of it for a week, unless I eat something spicy. -
Kicking my PPI - Day 7...
Oregondaisy replied to Keys Pirate's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Dr. Aceves recommended Nexium but Protonix is just as good and I took the generic cause it was so much cheaper. My PCP told me Protonix is comparable to Nexium. -
Thinking about giving up...

Go to Dr. Aceves. You won't regret it. He is so wonderful and living with the sleeve is effortless compared to living with a band! -
I am loving my sleeve too
Oregondaisy replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Wow, it's been a year since I started this thread. I have been at goal for over 6 months and I still love my sleeve. I can eat anything I want, just not a lot or big portions. I still crave sweets and my vit D did not come up when I was taking 2-4,000 mg per day. I am now taking 50,000 once a week and I am going to get it checked again. WasA told me that the 50,000 once a week was the best way to bring it up. -

Zantac will get rid of acid once you get it. The ppis stop acid from forming. I was on protonix (a PPI) also and I've been off of it a week now.Like I said, the first few days were miserable, but I seem to be fine now.I am happy to be off of it. -
I don't miss anything. I eat one piece of pizza once a week. One piece and I am stuffed and have no desire to eat anymore than that. I can eat ice cream again, if I choose to. There is no food that I can't eat and I eat whatever I want. I just can't eat very much of anything, but I'm full so it's pretty easy not to want more of anything. I love the Sleeve!

Kicking my PPI - Day 7...
Oregondaisy replied to Keys Pirate's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am almost a week off my PPI too. The first few days were hell. My stomach hurt really badly. It just plan ached. The heartburn was nearly unmanageable. Dr Aceves told me to take Gavescon as needed and I took some Sunday but didn't need any today. He said it takes 2 weeks to get off of it. I hope I can stay off it. -
sleeved on May 11th-issues with protein
Oregondaisy replied to Mommydog14's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The cheapest place to get lean dessert is vitacost.com. 4.99 shipping now matter what you order . they have tons of vitamins and supplements way cheaper than anywhere else and their lean dessert is cheaper too. I love the fudge pudding. -

PNW, are you telling her to go against her doctors orders and advance her diet when her doctor clearly told her to stay on clear liquids for 10 days? -

Oregondaisy replied to Mommydog14's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Deborah, The 10 day clear liquid phase is very hard. There is no doubt about it that it's not easy. A lot of people just give up trying to get all their Protein in if they can't drink isopure. I used unflavored Protein powder and put it into anything that I could find that was sugar free. I didn't have any trouble drinking either. I had to force myself to go slowly. It's more important not to get dehydrated right now than it is to get that protein in. After the 10 days is up, you can try other things. Go to the food section of this board and find the thread "places to order samples" A lot of people like the nectar samples better than the milky protein powder. You're going to need something for when you can get on full liquids, so order some samples of something now. There is also a "Rate your protein powders" or something like that. -
blender, food processor, whatever...
Oregondaisy replied to erh92's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have the walmart version of the magic bullet and I use it every day to make my protein drinks. I also used it during my mushie phase. I am not sure what it cost cause my daughter bought it for me. I am sure anything you buy will work just fine. magic bullets are expensive and you can get something much cheaper that will be just fine. Anything you already have and use will work just fine. -

didn't it say somewhere that our bodies will adjust and just stop makin so much acid? I thought I read that it rebounds for awhile, then settles down.
