Husband convinced everyone here is fake!!
Oregondaisy replied to 1MP4Life's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Aren't they wonderful? I love how everyone who has gone there all say the same thing and you can't find one complaint by anyone on any WLS board about him, the hospital, or his staff. I want to go back there just to go and visit all of them! -
Surgery with Dr. Aceves next Saturday!!! I have questions...
Oregondaisy replied to brittu's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my own PJs. I walked around outside a lot so I wanted something that would be suitable to wear outside. I brought the little packages of K20 Protein Water to mix in water on the plane ride home. -
Caution for using PPI's
Oregondaisy replied to Itstime's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am doing quite well off my PPI. I was really kind of worried the first few days. I got an email from Dr.Aceves that told me to take prilosec every other day, but I don't think I am going to need to do that. I have taken a few sips of gavescon a few times, but the last few days, I don't need anything. -
Kicking my PPI - Day 7...
Oregondaisy replied to Keys Pirate's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Dr. Aceves wanted us to be off of them at 6 months but I waited a year. I have an appt. with my pcp soon and I am definitely going to talk to him about this. I am worried about Calcium absorption. I know we are supposed to absorb calcium citrate but since I had a bone density test last fall, and it showed the beginning of osteoporosis, this is something I am very concerned about. that is why I want off the PPI. -
Newbie - Thinking of band to sleeve revision w/ Dr. Aceves
Oregondaisy replied to bethicle's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I followed Dr. Aceves post op diet to the letter. Since he did your revision, I sincerely doubt you need to worry about a leak. He has never had one, so I can't see any reason why you would be his first. On my 10 days of full liquid, I had egg drop Soup from the Chinese restaurant. I had a lot of different Protein shakes and tomato soup with cottage cheese blended in a blender so that it was smooth and creamy. I also had yogurt. On my 10 days of soft foods, I ate a lot of chicken salad, tuna salad and egg salad. I choose whatever foods were on the list I was given. When I moved to solids, I decided I didn't like the feeling so I stayed on mushies longer and tried a couple bites of solids per day. It was not easy in the beginning. I got full from 2-4 bites of food. One time I ate some fish and thought I was going to explode. I needed to learn to stop eating before I felt full. I was much more full 20 min after I was done eating than I was at the table. I bought those little cans of already made chicken salad. I looked at my portion on my plate and imagined if it would fit in that can. If it was more than that, I knew I would be sorry later. I am much better now at knowing when to stop. I can eat anything I want and I just know by looking at it when to stop. It's hard to get a full signal Feel free to ask anything you need to. We are all happy to help! -
Question regarding hunger with the Band to Sleeve Revision
Oregondaisy replied to AKBarnes1's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I lost over half my hair but it's growing back nicely now. The sleeve is the most wonderful thing I have ever done for myself! I love not being hungry and all the advantages being thin has brought into my life. I have never been happier! -
Kicking my PPI - Day 7...
Oregondaisy replied to Keys Pirate's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I don't think Prilosec is a PPI. I just looked at the box. It's an acid reducer, not an acid blocker like Protonix. -
Maybe you should get a prescription for some nausea medication. There are a lot of people who had to be on it at first. You will get dehydrated if you don't take in enough liquid, so speak to your doctor about a prescription.

Newbie - Thinking of band to sleeve revision w/ Dr. Aceves
Oregondaisy replied to bethicle's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I am one year past having my band removed and getting my sleeve. I have perfect restriction and I wish I had been born with this size stomach. I am having the time of my life being thin at this age! -
Kicking my PPI - Day 7...
Oregondaisy replied to Keys Pirate's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I have been off about 10 days now. I am excited that the heartburn is so much better. I haven't had to take any gavescon or prilosec. Prilosec is what Dr. Aceves told me to take every other day. I don't think I am going to need to do that. I seem to be adjusting just fine. -
Dr Aceves credentials
Oregondaisy replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
No, actually it was written by a former patient of his. She is a nurse and they became very good friends. He asked her to write it and she gathered all the information together and verified it all, then had it approved by Dr. Aceves before it was printed. It's a standard email now that his office will send out if anyone asks about his experience or qualifications. -
30 plus days in hospital
Oregondaisy replied to DeeDee58's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am so sorry it's been rough for you. You might try to contact tiffykins. She had a leak and a very rough start, but she loves her sleeve now. Please know we are all thinking of you and pray you're home soon. Eventually, I am sure you'll be glad you did this, when you're throwing out all the clothes that fall off of you. -
Hair Loss Question
Oregondaisy replied to shutterbug's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, I started taking Biotin before band surgery and continued it. so I have been taking Biotin for about 3 years. I don't know why I became amnemic. I know red meat is high in Iron, and I wasn't eating a lot of red meat. I have made sure to start eating more iron rich foods and my levels will be tested again soon. -

Oregondaisy replied to 1MP4Life's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are very welcome! Dr. Aceves is a fabulous doctor and much more experienced and qualified than many Mexican surgeons and surgeons in the US. The hospital and very clean and I would never recommend him like I do if I had not been there myself to see what a wonderful, caring doctor he, and all of his staff are. I received better care there than I did in the hospital here when I had other surgeries. -

Whiney....need advice
Oregondaisy replied to CoachKK's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I second the idea of unflavored Protein powder. I put it in everything. Even when I moved to mushies, I sprinkled it on top of my food. There is a thread in the food section on where to get samples. That's what I would do, so you don't get stuck with a big tub of anything. A lot of people liked the nectar drinks who did not like the milky drinks. -
Hair Loss Question
Oregondaisy replied to shutterbug's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My hair loss was the most between 4-9 months. I know I was not deficient in Protein, but I did find out I was anemic, which can also cause hair loss. I think I started to see tiny hairs coming in at 7 months and they are all over the place now. My hair loss slowed down at 9 months but I still lose a little bit even 1 yr post op . I sometimes wonder if it will ever stop falling out. -
Run Away !!!!!
Oregondaisy replied to shezaditz@bellsouth.net's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am sorry you're having so much trouble. It's very strange that you would get an abcess on your liver.Do you know what the cause of it was? Hope you are better soon and will start loving your sleeve like the rest of us do! -

Husband convinced everyone here is fake!!
Oregondaisy replied to 1MP4Life's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Please have your husband read the post I made regarding Dr. Aceves credentials. I put it in the doctor section after so many requests by email for this information. Dr. Aceves is very experienced and more experienced than some US surgeons doing sleeves. -
Surgery with Dr. Aceves next Saturday!!! I have questions...
Oregondaisy replied to brittu's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went alone and I didn't fly first class from Portland OR, so you will be flying almost the same distance. I did drive myself home from the airport which is a 2 hour drive back to the coast. I used Dr. Campos' lap top every day. I would have gone nuts without it. There was really nothing to do in my room. There are only a few channels on the TV in English. I spent a lot of time outside walking. I used the lap top to check in here, and generally just do my usual internet surfing. I didn't have an IV past the first 24 hours. I didn't need pain medication after the first 24 hours. -
Just a little advice.
Oregondaisy replied to excited2lose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is what Dr. Aceves emailed back to me: Hi Denise Not everyone has this problem but when they do.... the rebound effect lasts between one and three months so you will need to be patient Be especially careful about your diet during this period to avoid acid damage avoid foods known to trigger reflux (acidic juices, coffee, chocolate, high-fat foods) and and drinking plenty of water. You will substitute Nexium for Prilosec take Prilosec ( sold over the counter ) every day for 2 weeks then take Prilosec every other day for 2 weeks and then take Prilosec every 3 days for 2 more weeks and then take Prilosec every 4 days for 2 more weeks and then take Prilosec every 5 days for 2 more weeks and then take Prilosec every 6 days for 2 more weeks then you can stop taking it so a total of 3 months you will hopefully be able to leave the acid medication please keep track on the way you will be taking the Medication in order for this to work you will need to follow instructions closely -

My pleasure. I get requests for this regularly, so now it will be in one place for everyone to see.
