Places to get liquid protein samples
Oregondaisy replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
That is a lot of carbs but if you're going to use it on your post op diet I don't think it matters much. You're not going to get very many calories on the liquid post op diet. I used unflavored GNC brand. Do you have a GNC near you? I'll send that one package of chicken broth to you. -
I don't think you can do anything wrong, other than take too big of bites or eat too fast. Eating carbs will slow down your weight loss, but drinking water fast will not!

Places to get liquid protein samples
Oregondaisy replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Isopure is more like a koolaide thing. Unjury is milky and as far as I know, they don't make a clear liquid other than the chicken broth. I have never tasted the chicken broth but I have one package of it. If you want me to send it to you, send me your address in a private message. It's just one package though. Someone gave it to me an I never used it. -
Congrats Mini! The sleeve is the greatest thing ever invented. I am really happy for you and don't worry, those last 20 will come off before you know it!

Venting/stalled/trouble
Oregondaisy replied to txrdnk903's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Try not to be discouraged. You aren't even one month post op. I didn't lose weight fast either, but it eventually came off. Tiffy gave you all the good advice about how many carbs and calories to have per day. Some of us are just slow losers, but I don't know anyone who hasnt' had the sleeve work for. -
Reading Protein Powder labels
Oregondaisy replied to citizenwill's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
The stuff people seem to like at Walmart that is a powder to mix with Water is Body Fortress. I like my Protein powder to have 25 grams of protein, less than 150 calories and as low carb as possible. Most of the ones I use are less than 5 grams of carbs. I really like BSN lean dessert. I get it at vitacost.com and there are many flavors. I like the chocolate fudge pudding and the banana pudding. I mix the 2 together. -
Acid rebound and kicking ppi's
Oregondaisy replied to stcyt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was, for a few days. (Alex board owner)and I worked things out through email. I am still having some acid. It comes and goes. I read about some stuff to take from thehealthyskeptic.com that I am going to get from the health food store. It's supposed to restore your stomach while trying to get off the PPIS. It's not an antacid. One is a probiotic and the other is some other thing but the name escapes me at the moment. -

I wish that was the case with me. I was really surprised at the results of my bone density test -
Any "Grazers" with success with the sleeve?
Oregondaisy replied to KZol's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am a grazer. I never really feel like eating big meals. I eat a little bit and a couple hours later I eat something else. There are times when I eat a regular sleeve sized meal, and then I am not interested in eating anything for several hours. -
Some people are able to drink Water rather easily, and some people have trouble if they don't take small sips at a time. It's really an individual thing.

Reading Protein Powder labels
Oregondaisy replied to citizenwill's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I don't see why you can't use one of your nutrisystem meals for your dinner. If you go into the food section on the forum, I made a thread on places to order samples of Protein drinks. I would order some samples and find out what you like. Boost is usually very high in calories and carbs. You can use atkins or low carb slim fast too. -
*sigh* I may have figured out my nausea/wobbly issues

I've been diagnosed with general anxiety disorder. Exercise is the only thing that really helps for me. When I don't exercise every day, I start to feel very anxious. -

That stuff is really expensive. The once a year injection also can make you feel really sick. -
Acid rebound and kicking ppi's
Oregondaisy replied to stcyt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can find it in any drug store or store like Walmart. It's a liquid, like Malox. It's with all the other antacids. It comes in chewables too, but the ones I bought tasted nasty. I've heard there is another flavor, which I will look for if I ever get to another store besides Walmart. -
VSG Planned - Some Questions
Oregondaisy replied to schaf921's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
People really are amazed at how fast they recover. The people who have the most trouble are the ones who hate the liquid Protein and have trouble with the post op diet. As long as they don't get dehydrated, most people's healing goes very quickly. I was back to work in less than a week, but I have a desk job and I didn't have very much weight to lose. If you read the posts, there are a lot of people who are amazed at how much better they feel in a week. -
I am past the one year mark and I am having no trouble what so ever maintaining. I have made exericse a part of my daily life, but I had that habit for 3 years before band/sleeve surgery. The difference is back then, I exericsed my brains out and never lost any weight. Yes, I do gain when I have days where I eat wrong. In fact, I gained 8 lbs in 10 days when I went on a cruise. I had no trouble at all losing it though, when I went back to my regular eating and exercise. If you think the surgery is a free pass to eat whatever you want, of course you're going to gain. We always say they operated on our stomach, not our brains. Use the time when you are first sleeved to learn and make new habits. If you stay on that plan, no matter if you're one year 3 years or whatever, you CAN maintain your weightloss. Look for MacMadame's profile on OH. She is past 2 years, and has a blog that is very informative.

Acid rebound and kicking ppi's
Oregondaisy replied to stcyt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
]I'm taking the OTC prilosec and occassionally have "break through" heart burn. What can I take for that?' Take Gavescon. It's the only thing that will not cause rebound acid. -

Acid rebound and kicking ppi's
Oregondaisy replied to stcyt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My pcp wants me to take Tagamet if I have acid issues. I have to do a 24 hour urine test where I collect my urine and turn it into the lab.(yuk!) They are going to test my Calcium levels. He agreed with me that it's a fine line between worrying about Barrett's esophagus which will turn into cancer of the esophagus, or Osterporosis. Since my bone density test already showed the beginning of this, I am to stay off the PPI until we can decide the best course of action. My acid is quite a bit better this past few days. I get it in the evenings, but I can take some Gavescon and it's gone in a few seconds. I will be anxious to find out what my calcium level tests show. -
Becoming frustrated with nutritional balance
Oregondaisy replied to sickofrollercoaster's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I never really count calories or fats. I do try to watch my carbs but not for fruits or veggies. I don't eat Pasta or bread etc. I do count my Protein, but that's the only one I am really careful about. -
I'm so Bored! Food Ideas?
Oregondaisy replied to wannalise's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know tiffy uses allrecipes.com and finds a lot of things to make. I live alone so I don't do much cooking. I eat tuna, egg, or chicken salad, different luncheon meats, colby/jack reduced fat cheese sticks, greek yogurt, sometimes I buy a whole cooked chicken and eat one piece at time. I made the chicken salad out of the breast meat. I do go out to eat a lot and bring home leftovers that last 3 more meals. -
32 French, "tight sleeve"
Oregondaisy replied to Globetrotter's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
32 is very common. The difference between a 32 and a 40 is about a tablespoon. -
After all she has been through, now she has another leak? I will keep her in my prayers . Thank you for keeping us udated.

You will learn and be able to eye ball your portion sizes. I ate a lot of those little tiny cans of chicken salads when I went to mushies. When I went to solids, I looked at the portion and tried to imagine it fitting into one of those cans. When you first start solids, you won't be able to eat more than a few bites of anything, so you don't need to worry about measuring. You will feel full fast.
