  1. My band was removed at the time my sleeve was done. Dr. Aceves is very experienced at doing band to sleeve revisions and almost never does it in 2 steps.

    very disappointed in this site

I found the thread you started and it was titled "I went for surgery 6-25" That thread title gives no indication that there were any problems. I am like Tiffy. I read hundreds of posts per day, but I don't read all the new posts anymore. I try to read the ones where people are asking questions or wanting advice. I am sorry your thread was not noticed. I am positive if you had given it a different title, you would have had tons of responses. We are all human and certainly not capbable of reading every single post in addition to the threads that we are already subscribed to that we are watching. I'm sorry that this site disappointed you. It disappoints me sometimes too, but then so do some of the othe online sites for sleeve surgery. They can't be everything to everyone.
  3. I wonder why everyone wants to weigh 130. Oh and by the way, I weigh 130 and had no trouble what so ever getting to that weight. I seem to not be able to lose anymore, but at 130 I wear a 6-8 jeans and a small-med top.

    from your experience

Sorry, I don't get the question. I can eat anything I want. It's whether I choose to, that is up for grabs.

    Friends on VSG Forum?

I've met a few people that I chat with but I'd sure like to meet more. I would love to meet my little tiffy- she is such a sweetheart.

    Sugar Free Stuff Post Op

I refuse to eat Aspartane either. That stuff makes me really sick. So does splenda . I use stevia in my Greek Yogurt.I eat regular fudgsicles with SUGAR. They are 80 calories instead of 60. I'd rather eat something natural than artificial sweetner. I got the surgery to lose weight and I have done fine with that. Now that I am at goal, I see no reason to put anymore artificial things in my body that I have to.

    NSV shout outs

Way to go Everyone! The sleeve rocks! And we are all rockin our sleeves!
  8. I had my gall bladder surgery almost a year after my sleeve surgery. I've heard of some doctors doing it all at once though.

    OhYeah! Protein Drinks

I still haven't tasted the drinks. I've never even seen them in a store. I love the bars though. They are very yummy. I saw that show on TV where they were saying Protein drinks have traces of metal in them. They said they pretty much all do, as well as some foods.

    Talk me down!!!!

I think the sleeve is the best option for keeping the weight off. like Tiffy said, if you suck down high calorie slider foods, of course you're going to gain weight. At over a year out though, I can still only eat one piece of pizza. Before getting the sleeve, I could eat almost an entire pizza. So, as long as I don't snack on bad foods, my portions will always be small and that has to help. I should add that I know M & Ms are my big downfall and it's my choice whether to buy them or not.
  11. I used to bite or suck on a lemon wedge when I was thirsty and could not quench my thirst. I don't know why it worked, but somebody told me to try it and it did work.
  12. Glad to hear that! I love saving people from going through that band nightmare!

    Lap Band vs VSG

All I can tell you is that living with a band is a complete nightmare . Living with the sleeve is effortless.

    Is Protein Pudding Possible?

I made Protein pudding by using sf choc. pudding and mixing it in the magic bullet with low carb slim fast or atkins drinks. I have never tried it with protein mixes made with powder. I am sure it would work fine by mixing in the Protein shake instead of milk. when I tried it, it was very yummy.

    i want to cry....

When you have a staple line where your stomach was removed and stapled off, it is very important that it heals before foods are up against it putting stress on the staples. Advancing too quickly can cause a leak. I was on clear liquids for 10 days and full liquids for 10 days before moving to softer things like sf pudding, yogurt and cottage cheese. It's hard but it's better than developing complications.
  16. My nutritionist also recommends the Permeir Protein bars from costco. They are actually 300 calories but I only eat half at a time too. They are 30 grams of protein. I also love the Oh Yeah, bars. They are 15 grams of protein. I get them online at vitacost.com. They taste like a kit kat bar and they come in several flavors. I like the choc. mint and the choc. Peanut Butter. I have to be careful with them because they taste so much like a candy bar, I could eat them constantly. There are 2 sticks in a pack and I only eat one. They make a great snack.

    Anything I can do????

No, like I said, I used the name brand Nioxin shampoo, the conditioner, and the scalp treatment for several months before surgery and for 9 months post op and it did not help one bit. It seems to be unavoidable.

    Anything I can do????

I used Nioxin shampoo conditioner and scalp treatment and it didn't do anything other than dry out my hair. I had gall bladder surgery in November and my hair started falling out again. I have new hair coming in all over the place, but sometimes I wonder if it will ever stop falling out. I doubt if it's a Protein problem because I love my Protein shakes and bars, and I eat plenty of protein too.

    Self--pay bull****

I paid Dr. Aceves and everything was included in the price. All the preop tests and anesthesia. there was no psych eval necessary.

    Dr Aceves credentials

I believe they are talking about Gabby when they mention the aftercare specialist.

    Yikes!

My skin on my arms is the worst place of anywhere. I have been lifting weights but the saggy skin covers up the muscles underneath. When I am lifting the weight, the muscle shows but just standing, it's hanging skin. I hate it. I went shopping to try to find some tops with sleeves, and all the short sleeved tops are almost like sleeveless cause they are sooo short.!
  22. Are you talking about chatting in here, at Vertical Sleeve talk? Just click on the chat button up at the top. We chat most evenings. I usually leave the window open if there is nobody there because people come and go... I open another window and read the forums. You can hear a door bell ring when someone comes in.

I am not in Eugene but I go there pretty frequently. I am on the coast. I know there is a lady from Springfiend getting sleeved today, here by Dr. Tersigni.
