    NSV shout outs

I love this thread! I am so happy for everyone! I have a Micky Mouse Tee shirt that I wore when I was 18 and my bf took me to Disneyland. I saved it for sentimental reasons. The other day, I tried it on and it's baggy on me. Baggy but comfy. That bf ended up being my first husband and we are still good friends. The next time I go and see him, I am going to wear it. The last time I saw him, he said half of me disappeared.
  2. isn't it nice how we can all share? Someone sent their Unjury chicken soup to me, and I never used it and I sent it to someone else. We are all one big happy family.:cursing:

Believe me, it is my pleasure. I want everyone to know what a great surgeon he is. He doesn't even need to advertise on here, and more than half the board has gone to him, just through word of mouth.
  4. Off topic again! Oh it's just like AA. People say are you a friend of Bill W. Bill W. is who wrote the AA Big Book. But I still don't get who Dorothy is. I am so glad you had your surgery. 25 lbs is great in less than a month. You'll do great. The sleeve rocks and as long as you don't over do the carbs, the weight can't help but fall off.

    Confused: Lapband or Sleeve

I have said this over and over. Put a rubber band around your finger for 5 years and then look at the end of your finger. What is so different about putting a band around your stomach?

    anyone get dizzy

I thought it was because since I have lost all my weight, my blood pressure is quite low.
  7. Off topic: Hope you don't mind me asking this. Can you explain the Dorothy part of being gay? I was on a cruise and they had all sorts of activities. All the activities had names. One of them was called "friends of Dorothy" Who is Dorothy and how does she pertain to being gay? The only Dorothy I know of is from the Wizzard of OZ. They never mentioned anything about her being gay. I have always wondered about this. Good luck finding a surgeon. I hope you have an uneventful surgery and a quick recovery!

    Breakfast???

Sorry, I don't have the answer for that. The protein bars I eat are the Premeire from Costco and the OH Yeah bars which I get from Vitacost.com

    banded twice- enough already!!

The reason I had my band removed was because I got tired of that choking and throwing up in my sleep in no time at all. The band sucks. There is no other way to put it. Some doctors are finally refusing to do band surgery. In my opinion, the band should be removed from the market because it damages the stomach. My regular doctor said the sleeve is the cadilac of WLS and he believes some day, that will be the only WLS that surgeons will do.

    Confused: Lapband or Sleeve

just go to lap band talk and read the complications section of that board. I don't know anyone who has been able to keep a band long term.

    Breakfast???

The Premeire protein bars from Costco have 30 grams of protein. I can only half of one. They are higher in carbs than other protein bars, but I will eat half before going to the gym because I think I need carbs when I am going to work out for a couple of hours.
  12. It's funny because anything I add to water gives me heartburn. I do have more trouble with water since I went off my ppi, but I haven't found anything to add to my water that doesn't cause heartburn.

    Dr. Aceves

The yahoo group says it's a lap band group but he really isn't doing many bands these days. He is doing more band to sleeve revisions than anything else.

Dr. Aceves has done over 1,000 sleeves now. I can't edit the first post.
  15. Premeire from costco is very popular. Most people really like it. I like the convenience of it, but I love BSN Lean Dessert Fudge pudding. I also love PVL Gourmet Peanut Butter and chocolate that you get from Netrition.com. but it's a little more expensive. Netrition is a great site because the shipping is 4.99 no matter how much stuff you order. So is vitacost.com That's where I get my BSN. BSN comes in tons of flavors and vitacost charges 4.99 shipping no matter how much you order. I like to mix the banana pudding and the chocolate together. The Oh Yeah, peanut butter choc. Protein bars are really good. They are like a kit kat bar in consistency. There hasn't been anyone that I've recommended the Oh Yea bars that hasn't loved them.I get those from vitacost and I get my chewable Calcium citrate there too.

    Please help...

You should post this in the Ask Dr. Jossart section. He is a bariatric surgeon that will answer questions.
  17. You don't say when your sleeve surgery was. Has your doctor 1cleared you to eat food right now? I was on liquids for 3 weeks. The first 10 days were clear liquid.

    NAKED drink

Go to the food section of this forum and look for a thread I started called places to get samples. You don't want to get too much of anything because what you like now, you may not like after surgery. you are better off to get some samples to try after surgery to see what you like. Some people like the nectar drinks which are not milky like the other Protein drinks.
  19. Definitely get yourself some poweraide or gatoraide. You can get it in sugar free if you want but at this point you aren't getting many calories in anyway. Gingerale is a definite no no. You don't need the carbonation at this time. You should be able to take immodium for the diarrhea. They are pretty tiny pills and you should be able to get them down with the gatoraide. Gatoraide and Poweraide have the electrolites in them that you need right now. The anti nausea meds should help.

    I'm SCARED to eat!!!

I was lucky that I loved and still do love my Protein drinks. In the beginning, I tried 2 or 3 bites of something but still relied on Protein Drinks to get my protein in. It was a very gradual process for me to move from protein drinks to mushies, and then from mushies to solids. You have to go really slowly until you learn what you can tolerate and how much of it you can tolerate. In the beginning, 2-3 bites of anything and I felt like I was going to explode. I also have my band doctor here who sells all sorts of protein foods. He has tomato Soup that has 20 grams of protein. Also, I made my own and blended cottage cheese in it to up the protein. He also sells protein hot chocolate and protein hot cereals. You can go online and buy these things too, by the way.

    Soda's...what is the deal?

Doctors say that the carbonation will stretch the stomach out but that still seems to be a matter of opinion. I don't drink it because I hate diet soda and the regular has too many calories.

    My Primary Doctor was PISSED

My doctor was thrilled . He said I had the cadilac of wls and it's going to replace all the other wls. I was deficient in Iron and D3 but I am fine now. I take 50,000 of D3 per week and Iron with Vit C for better absorption. I got it from Vitalady.

    Couple of Questions....

Are you taking very tiny bites? then you must wait in between bites until you see how it sits. You won't always have to do this, but you're newly sleeved.

The only after care you need after sleeve surgery is lab work. Your pcp can order the lab work you need. Some people get an upper GI too and your pcp can order that as well. I would call Dr. Aceves office to get your questions answered. They are great about answering questions.

    2% vs 1%/Skim Milk

I am surprised you can drink milk at all. I can eat yogurt and cheese, but milk sends me back and forth to the bathroom and I get terrible gas from it. I literally double over from the gas pains. It's pretty common for sleeve surgery to make us lactose intollerant so I am amazed that you can drink any kind of milk.
