  1. You sound like me Steve. I had no pain what so ever. I was walking around all day long all around the hospital because I was so bored in my room. I had no pain and went back to work in less than a week. What are you drinking for clears? I used the unflavored GNC brand of whey and stuck it in anything I could find that was sugar free. I also really liked the egg drop Soup from the Chinese restaurant. Dr. Aceves said it was okay to have it but take out any peas or anything else they put in it.
  2. Can you tell us how much biotin you take. Mine says 5,000 mcg but I am not sure what that means.I've been taking it for 3 years since band surgery and it doesn't seem like it has helped at all.

Places to get liquid protein samples

Need to bump this up to the top. Lots of people asking where to get samples

I just can not do it!

I get muscle milk light at costco. I looked at it tonight. It's 8oz and 20 grams of Protein. It's kind of sweet. If you aren't liking sweet things these days ( a lot of people report they don't like things sweet after surgery. That is not me though) It tastes just like chocolate milk to me.You can buy it in the grocery store in bigger containers but I haven't seen the light in the grocery store. I've heard the banana is really gross. I have seen 4 packs of the light at walmart that are just like the ones I get at costco. You can get BSN lean dessert at vitacost.com. they are big containers though. They come in tons of flavors. I think there is a place to order samples on my thread "places to get samples" Vitacost is great. 4.99 shipping for no matter how much stuff you order. I am addicted to the OH Yeah Protein Bars and I get them there too. They are the consistency of a kit kat bar and I get the peanut butter/chocolate.
  5. ) How long have you been sleeved? almost 15 months 2) Who was your surgeon? Dr. Aceves 3) What were your experiences with your surgeon? I loved him. I loved everyone there. I wish I could go back and visit. 4) Would you recommend your surgeon? Most definitely. I already have- to many people on this board who have gone to him too. 5) How much weight have you lost since your sleeve date? I was 167 the day of surgery and I am 130 now. I lost it with the band, but I would have gained it all back from band compilations. I was lucky to only gain back as much as I did. 6) What type of sleeve do you have? 32 is the size. 34 over sewn to a 32 7) Would you recommend the type of sleeve you have? yes 8) Do you find you still have the necessary level of energy to sustain a good workout? Most definitely. I work out all the time. I work out hard. I love it! 9) Do you find it difficult to keep the weight off once you have lost it? Not at all 10) Do you have trouble eating, such as getting “stuck”? Not anymore. 11) What is the one things about getting the surgery that you regret? Nothing. I regret getting the band. 12) Would you do this surgery again, or would you have made another choice? In a heartbeat! Irene, you're going to love the sleeve. It's like night and day with the band. I've been telling you this and I am so happy to hear you're getting closer to getting that band out.

    Premier Protein

That sucks that you don't have a costco anywhere close. Mine is 100 miles away, but I stock up when I go. they are around $22 at costco. They are the same ones in the picture.
  7. I am so happy to see someone posting who had more time post op than I do. It's nice to know that after 3 years, 5 lbs is all you have to worry about. I keep wondering how this is going to go, since right now, it's so effortless.

I just can not do it!

The drinks I drink are also BSN Lean Dessert. I like the fudge pudding and I mix it with the banana pudding . They are 25 grams for 8 oz. The muscle milk light is 10 oz I think for 20 grams. tiffy found some that have 20 or 25 grams and it would depend on how much Water you mix it with as to how many oz. It's on the thread, "places to order samples" I make chicken salad by mixing it with the spinach dip already made at the store. I used to use a food chopper to make sure the chicken was very tiny, but now I just use a fork. Do you like tuna? tuna is very high in Protein and you can use low fat mayo and do the same with egg salad and a tiny bit of mustard. I used to use turkey burger and crumble it up, mix in a little sour cream and taco sauce, and that was yummy too.
  9. They are afraid you are going to swallow the gum. I was chewing gum the day after surgery. My doc had a fit but I told him I hadn't swallowed gum since I was a small child. I chew gum every day. It helps with sweet cravings and I have to chew gum when I do cardio. As soon as I start my cardio, if I don't have gum in my mouth, I run to my bag and get it. It's like trying to work out and not drink water, for me.

I just can not do it!

If you're able to tolerate a Protein shake, you need to drink one that has way more protein than 10 grams. There are many with 20-25 grams. The Premeire from costco have 30 and they are very popular here. Tuna is high in protein. I think your problem is that you're trying to get it all from drinks and bars.
  11. I think living with the sleeve is effortless. I love being thin and I wish I had been able to do this years and years ago.

    ? about Aceves please..

He is really nice and must be very experienced as he does this every day and Dr. Aceves has done over 1,000 sleeves not to mention all the gastric bypasses he does. he will talk to you before surgery.

    Sleever done April 2010

Hi Gloria, nice to meet you. Come in and chat with us in the evenings. That's a good way to get to know people. I was sleeved just about one year before you!

    I cried tonight ...

Congrats Mini! It's pretty exciting all right! The sleeve is so grand!
  15. There is a spot to get samples of chike on the thread I started in the food section called something like "places to order samples" I think chike raised the price to something like 6.95 for the samples. A lot of people really like chike. The orange cream is really good.It tastes like a dreamsicle or creamsicle or whatever you call those!

    help, having issues

Hey that's really good to know. I know a lot of people who have esophageal spasms.
  17. Oh okay, I get it now. That makes more sense.

Let's discuss "the foamies" and "sliming"

Sounds like you're sliming. You need to eat or drink tiny little portions and then wait and see what happens. At that time, I was still drinking protein drinks l 2 oz every 20 min. I was supposed to move to mushies, then solids, but I could only eat 2 bites so I depended on protein drinks for the most part.
  19. No, once you're healed, you're healed. Believe me, living with a band is a nightmare. Living with a sleeve is effortless. I had all those things, choking in my sleep and having to sleep sitting up, until I decided to get rid of that miserable band. It was the best thing I ever did. Now, I eat anything I want. ANYTHING! I can't eat huge portions, but I am very satisfied with the amount I eat. I love the sleeve, and wish I had gotten it years go.

    Today Sucked!

There are plenty of times I clear out my body by going back to protein drinks when I've been falling off the wagon for a few days. I think it's the best way to get carbs out of your system.

    Aspirating food at night?

You might want to try the generic of protonix. It's way cheap and just as good as nexium.
  22. I throw so much food away it's not funny anymore. It looks good in the store, but then when it's time to eat, I look at it and decide I don't want to eat it anymore. One thing that I do like is chicken salad but I make it with spinach dip that I buy premade.
  23. So was Judy Garland Gay? I never knew that.
  24. Oregondaisy

    Aspirating food at night?

I had it happen all the time with my band but never with the sleeve. I would definitely call your surgeon and ask why this is happening. Is Prevacid a PPI or an acid reducer? Maybe you should post this in the ask Dr. Jossert section. He comes in and answers questions.

    Hair Loss Poll:)

I can't wait for mine to recover. Today I was noticing how really thin it is. I have new hair growing in, but I can see why Mila's took 5 years. Mine hadn't recovered from band surgery and then I got sleeved. I have a long way to go before my hair will ever look the same. But I love being thin!
