  1. no more than 30 grams per day. If I ate more than that during the losing phase, I did not lose.

    Hair Loss Poll:)

I couln't possibly take in anymore Protein than I already I am. My band doctor who is now doing sleeves just spoke at support group. he is talking people out of bands because he feels that the sleeve is far superior to any other wls. He still says everyone should consume 100 grams of protein every day. He said you will never gain weight from eating too much protein. So, I take Biotin 3 x a day, get in 100 grams of protein per day, and I am 15 months post op, and my hair is still falling out. I think having gall bladder surgery in Nov. could have added to the problem. Surgery of any kind is a shock to the body.

    Is VSG appropriate for me?

I take a multi Vitamin, Calcium citrate, B complex and Biotin. My vit. D is 50,000 units and I take that once a week. I also take Iron every other day.

    Is VSG appropriate for me?

VSG is the best surgery choice for anyone. The band is a nightmare. Having silicone wrapped around soft stomach tissue is dangerous and causes all kinds of tissue damage. It can damage your stomach to the point where it has to be removed but your stomach tissue is too damaged to have any other type of weight loss surgery. The gastric bypass stomach stretches out over time, and most patients gain their weight back, but still have to be vigilant about taking Vitamins the rest of their lives because they will never again absorb nutrients out of their food. The sleeve is the perfect choice because it's made from the part of the stomach that is muscular and does not stretch. You can have head hunger with any kind of weight loss surgery.
  5. You can't really go by my weight loss time frame because I did lose the weight with the band. when I started having band problems and had all my fill removed I gained 20 lbs. back very quickly. When I got sleeved, I lost that 20 plus 17 more very quickly. So really, with the sleeve I have only lost 37 lbs. I lost that in a few months. I really try not to drink things with artificial sweeteners either, because they really bother my urinary tract/bladder. There are some out there that are sweetened with Steveia which is the most natural of all sweeteners. I was at support group tonight and my band surgeon was there. He is doing sleeves now and talking people out of bands. He told me that at 15 months, my sleeve has stretched all that it is going to stretch.
  6. Watch your carb intake. Carbs are sneaky and there are more carbs in foods than people think. The best weight loss is usually when you are consuming 30 or less carbs per day. Other than that, stalls are normal. Your body needs to adjust to it's new weight before it decides it will give anymore up.
  7. why don't you just go to lapbandtalk and read the complications section? Then read the band to sleeve revision forum here. There wouldn't be hundreds of people having their bands removed if living with a foreign object wrapped around your stomach is as great as people thought it would be. I self paid for the band and I self paid to have it taken out and I am really glad I did. Having Dr. Aceves do my revision surgery was the smartest thing I have ever done. Living with a sleeve is effortless.
  8. BJ, I read that it's the PH balance of Water that upsets our stomachs. The same place, I read to drink arrowhead bottled water and it has the right ph for our tummies. I bought some and have to say it does make a huge difference. I didn't have this problem until I went off my acid blocker. I am thinking of going back on it though or at least an acid reducer. If you can't drink water, do you drink other sugar free stuff? I am 15 months post op and what I eat makes a huge difference. I can still only eat small amounts of steak or pork, but mushy stuff, I can eat quite a bit more, like 8 oz.
  9. I had both and I am glad I did. I never felt any pain and I was up walking feeling perfectly normal right after surgery. They said it was because of the spinal. The pain I had was in my left shoulder from the gas they use to pump up your belly to do the surgery. I think they know what they are doing or I would not have had a completely pain free experience other than some minor left shoulder pain.

    Dr Aceves credentials

I think the Lucerna is far nicer than a Best Western.

    the ordeal

Don't worry! Once you're feeling better, the weight will be dropping off.

ZUMBA- where have you been all my life????

yeah, the music makes a huge difference. I like it better when they make up routines to the popular music that is on the radio.
  13. Miralax is not a stimulant laxative. It just puts moisture where it needs to go. Both my doctor and my moms doctor said it's fine to use every day, but I don't need it.
  14. Tiff, as always, you look great! Tiffy is right. At 15 months post op, I rarely remember I had surgery. I eat anything I want all the time, and maintain easily without gaining. It's like life was meant to be lived all along and I wish I had done this years ago so I had more years to enjoy being thin and feeling normal.

    Nectar Protein Drinks

Most people do really like them. The Caribbean cooler seems to be popular.
  16. Most doctors recommend Miralax. It used to be a prescription but now it's over the counter. It just puts moisture where it needs to go, and it's not a stimulant laxative. It just makes you regular.
  17. Go to the food section of this forum and find the post I started on places to get samples. It's better to get samples and try a few things rather than buy a big tub of anything you might not like. You'll be able to sip and sip and the first few weeks you have to keep at it sipping all the time. After awhile, you can take bigger drinks. It gets easier.

    helium... don't do it!!!

Hope glad to hear from you! How in the heck have you been?
  19. Can't you call your dr?
  20. Start using Miralax every day. It's not gritty and it mixes in Water or crystal lite, etc. It will help you go every day. In the mean time, I would try a fleets enema and if it doesn't work, take the bottle it comes in and fill it up with as hot of water as you can stand.
  21. Everyone has stalls. Try not to worry about it. 40 lbs is amazing. The rest will come off because it's not possible to not lose weigh with the sleeve.

    Bald Spot

I wish Biotin did help.I've been taking it for 3 years now. I started right after band surgery and I am 15 months post op from sleeve surgery. The funny thing is, my new hair that has come in is curly. I have never had curly hair in my life. It's weird. I have little ringlets at the nape of my neck.
  23. jane you look amazing!
  24. Thank you! really, the sleeve is what made it possible. Living with the sleeve and being thin is like a dream come true. I wish I was younger so I could enjoy it longer. I wish I had done this years ago.
  25. Isn't this great how we are all such a big happy family? Someone sent theirs to me, and I didn't use it so I sent it to someone else. I love that about this board!
