I am very happy to be the first one to say CONGRATULATIONS! You worked hard and are now able to enjoy the rewards. I am so happy for you!

    Torani Sugar Free Syrups

yeah, I am not really crazy about the taste, but they are not unbearable. I just drink some water after I chew a couple of them up. I finally read the bottle and it takes 2 to make up the 500 mg. You're supposed to take 500 mg 3 times a day , 2 hours apart.

Any Lap Band Conversions Out there??

Some do and some don't. There is a whole section on band to sleeve revisions. You should look there.

Useful protein/carb/fat chart for home cooks

Thanks! I will book mark that!
  5. I really couldn't answer that because I was on 10 days of clear liquid and 10 days of full liquid then 10 days of mushy food. So, basically, at your stage, I was still on liquids. Dr. aceves feels strongly that the staple line needs to be protected, and putting food against it is dangerous. That may be why he has never had a leak.

    Aceves Patients: Surgery Schduling...

I got in as soon as I wanted. I can't remember the exact timing. I emailed back the forms they sent me and we decided on a date. It seems like it was about 2 weeks later. Are you changing your mind back to Aceves rather than Cirangle?
  7. It was very hard for me to move off liquids. I tried about 3 bites of anything and it was not fun. I drank my Protein drinks to make sure I got my protein in, and tried a few bites every day. Eventually, it got easier. It was much harder to move from mushie to solids, but it still was not easy to move from liquids to mushy either. It just takes time. Try not to get discouraged.

    Volume of Food - Questions!

yes, It's true! I have never been able to figure out why some people have so much trouble in the beginning and have to really sip slowly. The only thing I know is, everyone is different and I was one who had no trouble right after surgery drinking and had to watch the clock to force myself to go slow.

Did I eat the wrong thing?

It sounds just like dumping syndrome, which I get if I eat something with sugar or too much fat. I don't know why you would get it from a potato though.

    Surgery Secrecy

More power to all of you who are brave enough to tell people. I told my kids and my one friend who had surgery a week after I did. I didn't want to tell people and listen to all their comments. So many people say you're taking the easy way out, and then there are all the others who keep asking "so how much have you lost now?" Since I had the band first, I lost weight slowly. I told everyone I was exercising and watching portions which was true. It's been 3 years now since I've lost my weight, so now I get more questions about how I am able to keep it off. I tell them that I've been going to the gym for 6 years now, at least 5 days a week and I've learned how much a portion size is and I am glad I am in the habit of going to the gym.

    Long Vent...- very much needed..

When people do things to me that are too long to list and I want them to know how I feel, I write them a letter. I get it all down on paper so I can't be interrupted and I can read it over and over until I have it exactly how I want it. That is exactly what I would do in this situation!

    What are you all drinking?

I drink the Premeire from Walmart that everyone is talking about because it's convenient. It's RTD in a container. My favorite is BSN Lean Dessert. I like to mix the fudge pudding and the banana pudding together.
  13. You will get there soon BJean. The sleeve rocks! Hey, I saw my friend's daughter make a slushie. She had a machine that ground the ice really fine like shaved ice and she poured that sf Davinci or Torini syrup over it. She said she got the thing that makes the shaved ice from pampered chef. I thought of you while I watched her make it.

I really could use some advice

I wouldn't do it but that's just me. I am very careful about telling people that I had WLS. I don't like the comments I hear when people are talking about other people I know who had surgery. I like to be private about it. If you are okay with everyone who is going to see that, more power to you!

    Where are the Old Timers?

Yeah, there aren't many people who post who have more time than I do. We had a girl here not long ago post who was sleeved 3 years ago. I am 15 months post op and living with the sleeve is so easy, I rarely even remember I had surgery. You can go on Obesity Help and sometimes find people who post who had surgery longer than 2 years ago.
  16. BJean I know exactly what you mean. I am 57 almost 58 and I wish I had done this years ago too. I plan to make the best out of the coming years though and being thin makes that a whole lot easier.

    What do you wish for?

I take ball room dance classes and we do most of those dances. I am so glad I lost all my weight because that was the first thing I noticed. There are no fat people in the classes, and no fat people going to any of the dances either. Dancing has opened up a whole new world for me. It's been one of the best rewards for losing all my weight! I LOVE dancing and I dance at least 3 times a week these days:thumbup:

    Biotin

Yes, I eat over 100 grams of protein per day. My band doctor really stresses the importance of 100 grams of protein per day so I got used to that after I got the band. It's not hard at all to get 100 grams in, since I like my protein shakes and protein bars, and I eat protein with every meal.

Question for Post-Op patients of Dr. Aceves in MX

Isn't it great that no matter which sleeve board you go to, everyone says the same thing!
  20. You can always eat prunes. They actually taste pretty good. It's best to put them in the microwave in a little dish of water so they are stewed prunes and are not dried prunes.

    What do you wish for?

I only had one goal when I had surgery and that was to stop shopping in the plus size department. I can't tell you how nice it is to take a medium to the dressing room and find out it's too big. I still have no desire to wear heals, or tuck my shirts in and wear belts.
  22. There are plenty of us band to sleeve revisions who have never had a problem. My friend had a terrible time with her band and never could eat solid food. She was on liquids for over a year, as every time she tried to eat solids or mushies, she puked. She had revision surgery with no problems at all.

    Biotin

I take 5,000 mcg per day in one capsule, but there is more in my multi and more in my hair skin and nails vitamin. I hate to say it, but all of this does nothing. I think I just have expensive pee. My hair fell out when I had band surgery and has never recovered when I had revision surgery. I have new hair coming in, but it's still falling out!

    Hair Loss Poll:)

I've been taking it for 3 years ever since band surgery. I take it, but I don't know why, cause I don't think it helps. Mine are 5,000 mcgs too.
