Thanks Jane, I guess that must not be an option after all.

You will be able to eat what you want when you are farther out from surgery. There is nothing now that I can't eat. I occasionally do eat a cheese burger with the bun, and I can eat about half of one.

Yes, diarrhea is normal.liquids in,liquids out. things will improve when you move to soft foods, and may even go the other direction when you move to solid food. -

try to sip water in between isopure. Isopure has 40 grams of protein so are you drinking a bottle of it? -
I eat pizza all the time. I take my kids out for pizza at least once a week. I can eat one piece and I am stuffed. It doesn't bother me that I can't eat more because I am full. I watch them polish off the rest of the pizza, and wonder where they put it. If you have a take and bake place, they offer a really thin cracker crust. I can eat 2 pieces of that kind.

Banded Now.. Researching the Sleeve
Oregondaisy replied to Lisa B's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Did you find out if Dr. Aceves wants you to be unfilled before you get there? You have almost a month to go. I ate like a little pig before I had my band taken out. I had hot fudge sundaes regularly for a few weeks cause I knew I'd be on liquids for almost a month after sleeve surgery. I probable gained 10 lbs in the month waiting for sleeve surgery. I had lots of last suppers! -
You and me both. I have heard of these lifestyle lifts that aren't supposed to be very expensive. I cut an ad out of the newspaper. I am going to call and find out about it.

I didn't even know those things existed.

Can anyone else relate to any of this?
Oregondaisy replied to pcindy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No, I have heard of a few people who have a rough recovery, but for most of us, it's a breeze. I really couldn't even tell I had surgery other than the first 24 hours. I hope tomorrow is even better than today. You might want to try some room temp gatoraide and get some of those electrolites in. I still can't drink things cold. -
for the most part now that I am almost 16 months post op, I know what to order and it looks like a normal portion. Yesterday I ordered quiche and ate all of it. I can eat salad pretty well and normally too. going out to pizza-bad idea. I can eat one piece of pizza. I got out to pizza with my kids though!

Nervous about Mexico Surgery!!
Oregondaisy replied to davidblackmisty's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgery in Mexico. I went by myself. I haven't needed any aftercare at all. I had my PCP do some labwork which my insurance paid for because I told him if he coded it for weight loss, they wouldn't pay. Dr. Aceves gives Toradol to take home. Nobody says a word about bringing medicine home. You can ask any of us what you should be taking when you get home. Calcium citrate not carbonate. Vit D. Most everyone is deficient in vit d anyway. A good multi Vitamin , B complex and subligual B12 which you can get at Walmart. A lot of people take Biotin to prevent hair loss, but I can tell you it doesn't work. -

You might be right about needing some IV fluids. There have been a few others who had really rocky starts. They ended up needing IV fluids. Believe me, when you are thin wearing sizes you haven't worn either in a long time or maybe never, you will be so happy you did this. You will be rejoicing! I hope you feel better tomorrow. -
Foods you used to love but now hate
Oregondaisy replied to citizenwill's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
There is not one single thing that I used to like that I don't like now. I guess I have been eating low carb for such a long time, the things that Will described are things I haven't eaten in years. I've been on an Atkins type diet since the 1970's and had a band before the sleeve, so really nothing for me has changed, other than portion sizes. -
Odd Scenario Opinions Needed
Oregondaisy replied to Carrie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When you have the sleeve, you can eat small amounts of food, which should mostly be Protein. On a liquid diet, the liquid is going right through, so it's not sticking with you and you don't feel satisfied. When you eat mostly protein, you will feel full for a long time. You will lose weight eating protein and small amounts of veggies, if you don't eat carby things like mashed potatoes. Don't worry about moving from a liquid diet to a protien/solid diet. It's what you need to do, and you'll lose weight, not gain weight. -
That's funny. I live in the Pacific Northwest too and I have never heard of it. I think anything anyone tries is going to take longer than 30 days to notice a difference. I can't believe I am almost 16 months post op and it's still falling out. It must have something to do with anesthesia because I had my gall bladder out in Nov. My surgeon said it takes 9 months to stop , and it will be 9 months since my gall bladder surgery at the end of this month.

Will craving junk food stop with sleeve?
Oregondaisy replied to davidblackmisty's topic in Food and Nutrition
"You do need to be honest with yourself and your surgeon/dietician. If you are a big snacker and esp of high calorie foods, then you may be more suited to a gastric bypass than a sleeve. A sleeve is more intended for those who eat a lot of volume. You will still be able to defeat the sleeve if you eat chips, icecream, chocolate all day long in small amounts" That really isn't true. My daughter had gastric bypass and she can eat way more than I can.The gastric bypass pouch stretches out fairly quickly and the sleeved stomach can't because it's made from a different part of the stomach. It's made from the muscular part that does not stretch much. Also, the malabsorption part of the gastric bypass does not last forever. All that being said, No, if you are determined to snack, you can do it.there are days I drink Protein shakes to get my protein in, because the entire day, all I have eaten is total junk. BUT-those days are not frequent. I weigh every day, and if I am up one or two pounds, I am back on track eating protein and veggies. You do have to be determined to eat right. I have a friend that got sleeved a week after me, and she eats candy ,chips, and a lot of Cookies every single day. -
What and how much???
Oregondaisy replied to Barbie_70's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am almost 16 months post op. Today I had a Protein shake for breakfast. I almost always have that but sometimes I have a Protein Bar. I have never been a breakfast eater. For lunch, recently I have started having half sandwiches on that new sandwich thin bread that looks like a really thin hamburger bun.Sometimes I have leftovers because I eat dinner out so often, I always have a doggie bag. For dinner I have some sort of meat, about 3 oz and a bit of veggies. I snack on fruit or yogurt in between meals. I feel like I eat a lot, but I weigh every day, and I am staying right at 130 where I have been since Oct. -
Is this a vitamin? I have never heard of Super Supplements so I wouldn't know where to get it.

Lactose intolerant post-surgery?
Oregondaisy replied to BlackBerryJuice's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can drink a little milk. I buy those tiny cartons that they give the kids at school. If there is something I like to eat that I like to drink milk with, I can take a few sips. If I drink a glass of milk, I get bad stomach cramps and diarrhea. I drink Hood carb countdown, and it doesn't do that. My protein shakes don't do it either. -
Lactose intolerant post-surgery?
Oregondaisy replied to BlackBerryJuice's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am almost 16 months post op and I am still lactose intolerant. I can eat cheese and yogurt, but milk makes me rather ill.
