  1. I found the only nurses that did not speak English as well were the ones that worked 11pm to 7am .They could still speak some English, but not as well as the other shifts. Sergio is so sweet and speaks perfect English! So does Lucy!

    Basic post-op Vitamins

Vit D deficiency can also cause a craving for sweets!
  3. I am 16 months post op and I do not regret this and never have for one second. I am totally satisfied with my one piece of pizza. I feel full and the same as I would feel if I ate half a pizza. It is so worth it to be thin and wear cute clothes. I can eat anything I want. I can eat all the junk food I want, if that's what I choose to do. Every once in awhile, I do regret that I didn't tell certain people because I do eat small portions. I didn't want to tell people though. I hate telling people that I paid out of pocket 20,000 10 for the band and 10 more for the sleeve, just because I was not able to lose weight on my own. Really, Honestly I have never felt deprived one single bit.

    Weight regain with VSG?

Yes, doctors don't really know all that much about nutrition. I can tell you though that if you contact Vitalady.com you can order the 50,000 capsules that you take once a week. This will bring it up where taking a small amount every day does not seem to bring it up much. It's helped me a lot.
  5. I had tomato soup and blended in cottage cheese to put some Protein in it. There is K2 from kellogs Protein drinks that aren't bad but don't have much protein in them. Soy Slender is good but again, not much protein in there either. It's not in the fridge, it's on the grocery shelf. I put unflavored Protein powder in anything sugar free I could find and I tolerated it just fine, but other people say it tastes funny. If you have access to a Vitamin Shoppe, they should sell the nectar products. Those are good and have much more protein in them.

Vit D 3 is important. Most people are deficient in Vit D 3 even people who haven't had WLS. Being deficient in this can cause all sorts of different problems. There is a good post about it, if you put Vit D in the search you can probably find it.

Anyone going to be around to chat tonight?

I have the chat window open!
  8. I was supposed to go to a dance tonight but my daughter's babysitter canceled out on her at the last minute and she has somewhere important to go. So, I guess I will be stuck at her house babysitting. If you're around, I'll be looking for someone to talk to! This will be around 7:30 Pacific time!
  9. food not only bores me, sometimes I have to force myself to eat. There are so many times, I just forget to eat dinner. I eat Breakfast because I go to the gym, and I know I need to eat before working out. Going to the gym was a habit I started years before surgery. When I get back from the gym, I eat because I know you're supposed to eat after working out. The next thing I know, it's 8:30 pm and I think "oh no, I forgot to eat dinner again" It's weird. I really don't have an appetite a lot of the time. I live alone, so it's not like I fix dinner for a family. I have bought so much food that ended up in the garbage that I have finally learned not to buy a lot of food.

    getting pregnant after VSG

Don't let anyone talk you into a band for any reason. I have a friend who now has barrets esophagus which is basically precancer to esophgeal cancer. This is because the band ruined her esophagus. Just to to lap band talk and read the complication section about bands. They are nightmares. There wouldn't be so many of us who have had band to sleeve revisions if we liked our bands. There are plenty of people who have gotten pregnant with a sleeve. You will probably have to eat more often, and be over a year post op. There are more people on the VSG board at obesity help who have gotten pregnant.

    Dr. Aceves post op diet

Dr. Aceves has his patients on 10 days of clear, then 10 days of full liquids. That should be where you are now. You can have Soup that you put in a blender to get rid of all the chunks.I blended tomato soup and cottage cheese to get more Protein. You can also have the egg flower soup from the chinese places, and of course any kind of Protein Drink you can stand. There are also drinkable yogurts. Hope that helps!
  12. What you ate is actually on the soft food mushy list. You didn't do anything wrong. Go in the recipe section and look up the ricotta bake. A lot of people really like it. When I was on mushies, I cooked ground turkey with taco seasoning and mixed it with sour cream and sprinkled with cheese.

    Dear Protein,

I got it from a Health food store. It's called Gen Soy.
  14. The whole thing is very strange to me. I do exercise regularly, but I haven't changed my routine at all. I have upped my Protein the past few days because I am worried about losing muscle. The more muscle you lose, the flabbier the skin looks. I don't need that! I really don't get why after a year, I would drop again when I have been eating more. I am eating bigger portions because I am 16 months post op now, and I am eating more junk. I know that's not good, but I have to wonder why I would lose and not gain from this.
  15. I just lost another 2 lbs. Weird. I have been maintaining at 130 for nearly a year. I haven't even been weighing myself fanatically anymore.I got on the scale because I was afraid I gained from being out of town and eating more junk. I found out instead of gaining, I lost 2 more lbs. I am afraid I am losing muscle though, not fat.

    Dear Protein,

i have a soy protein powder that is pretty much tasteless.

Foods you used to love but now hate

I had some good fries a couple of days ago. I can't eat very many. I am also glad I can only eat a little bit of ice cream. If I eat more than a little bit, it makes me deathly sick and that's a good thing!

    Food addiction BOOKS you recommend?

The Beck Diet soloution. it's not a diet. I'd get the work book and not the book.
  19. I never lost every week. I would lose then go on a stall, then lose 5 lbs in a week and go on another stall. Sometimes our bodies just need time to adjust to it's new weight before it will give up anymore.
  20. I am amazed sometimes at how much I eat and I don't gain. I just seemed to stop at 130. For awhile I was stuck at 135-140 for months, and then just starting losing again with no changes to diet or exercise. I would say if you're happy with your clothes on and the way you look, don't worry about the scale. Just eat right and keep doing what you're doing, and your body will adjust. I have weighed this for nearly a year now. I hit 130 last October.

    Aceves Question

Most people do get picked up at the AAA parking lot if they choose to drive.

    dance workout video/DVD recommendation

I am another one in favor of Zumba. I can buy the DVDs and do it at home, but I know I wouldn't do it. I love the classes.
  23. I don't measure by oz because I don't weigh my food. I can eat half a cheeseburger with the bun depending on how big it is, of course. I can eat one piece of pizza, one soft taco from taco bell, but I tear off part of the tortilla. I can eat most of a chicken thigh. I would say if I took a piece of cooked meat, whether it's pork, chicken or steak, I can eat less than the size of the palm of my hand. I can eat quite a bit of salad, but I always mix in shrimp or chicken breast. I would say that I eat the same amount of food that I could eat at 6 months and it has not increased now that I am at 16 months post op.

Did you get to keep your band?

I have my band. I keep it on my dresser. I like seeing it since I spent 10 grand on that mistake.

    Dear Protein,

Are you talking about PVL Whey gourmet Peanut Butter and chocolate? I think it's delicious. Nice and creamy, just a little expensive.
