  1. The band made me constantly sick. It was an easy decision as soon as I found out about the sleeve that I wanted that thing out of me as soon as possible and to have revision surgery to the sleeve. The sleeve is everything the band was supposed to be-small portions and no hunger. The band can completely ruin your stomach and esohagus so I wanted it out before it did so much damage that it could not be repaired.
  2. The name of it is Crystal Light pure fitness. It comes in strawberry Kiwi and grape.
  3. There's 2 flavors of crystal lite that are sweetened with stevia. When I get home, (I am at my daughter's house) I will tell you the name of it.

Let's discuss "the foamies" and "sliming"

That 1/8 cup is just in the very begining. YOu should be supplementing with Protein shakes at that point. The farther out you get, the more you can eat, until it stablizes. I can eat half a sandwhich now, but I have to remove some of the bread. In the beginning, it was just 3 bites or so, if it was solid food and I supplemented with Protein Shakes.
  5. When you are banded, if something won't go through the band and is stuck, you start sliming. Saliva keeps coming into your mouth and you have to spit it out. Swallowing it does no good because then there is more of it. Now with the sleeve, it's difficult to figure out how much to eat when you get to solids. I've made the mistake of eating until I thought I was full, but it turned out I was actually too full. Since it takes awhile for the brain to tell the stomach that it's full, I need to learn to stop before I am full. So that's where the foamies come in. It's basically just like sliming if you have experienced that with a band. I only learned the term from trying to figure out what causes it and reading that other board. Since we have so many new people who are newly sleeved and have no band, I thought people should know what to expect if you eat too much. Maybe somebody who has had their sleeve longer than me can explain it better.
  6. Be sure to post on the thread I started trying to count Dr Aceves patients. I am trying to find out how many people from this board have gone to him and what their experience was.

    Let's count Dr. Aceves Patients!

Diva, do you think this thread should be moved? I want an accurate count of how many people have already had surgery there and the ones who are scheduled there. I am afraid people aren't finding it. Maybe it should go in general sleeve discussion? I know some people just go to new posts. I want it to be seen everyday though, and if someone doesn't post , it gets kind of lost.

    Stalling so soon????

If you're having trouble with solids, go back to liquids and mushies. I would not eat oatmeal. It doesn't have any Protein in it and it's very high in carbs. Look for Greek yogurt, and you would be better off with cottage cheese if you like it. There is also a good recipe for the ricotta bake which is good, and higher in protein. When I first started out, I had to drink Protein drinks and stayed on mushies much longer because eating was hard. Eating with the sleeve is a learning process. Try not to get discourged because stalls are completely normal.
  9. I had surgery on a wed. and went back to work on mon. I planned to take a week off, but I felt so good that I saw no reason to stay home anymore. I have a desk job that sounds similar to yours. I guess it depends on your job. If they are really going to be short handed without you, I would say a week for most people is plenty of time off. There are people who have problems with nausea at first, but if you are able to get your Protein and liquids in, you should be fine in a week.

    100 lbs in Six Months...almost!

Way to go Anna! I so remember when you wrote to me asking about the sleeve. Your post is so hearfelt and inspiring and it will be a big help to all those starting on this journey. Are you sure you need to lose 70 more lbs, Lol? You look great now!
  11. You will do great! Regain with the sleeve is not as common because it's made from the muscular part of the stomach which does not stretch like the RNY. You have made the right choice! I am really glad VST was able to help you win your appeal. Nobody should have to have a surgery they don't really want just because an insurance company tells them they have to.
  12. you will love Dr. Aceves and Dr. Campos! They make everything go so smoothly, you have nothing to worry about. Did you post on my Let's Count Dr. Aceves thread? I am trying to see how many people from this board are his patients.

Inexpensive self pay in the USA

I don't think it's possible in the US to get a price that low. The doctor that did my band surgery is doing sleeve surgery on people now for 11,000, but the don't even get to stay in the hospital. In my opinion, you need to be in the hospital.

How do I eat when I always feel full

You are very newly sleeved. I would not worry about it. You'll be able to eat more later, and you'll be able to get in more protein and things will sit well. You're still very new at this.
  15. Really you have nothing to worry about. Some people are uncomfortable for the first few days, but I have hardly ever read where people were in pain. As far as living with the sleeve, I really feel like I eat pretty normally now. I can eat half a sandwich. I just had company for 3 days and they had no clue that I had WLS. I ate what everyone else ate, just smaller portions than they did, but I am a much smaller person now so it didn't seem weird to anyone.
  16. Way to go Diva! I am so glad you choose Dr. Aceves. The fun has just begun!

    Life STINKS after surgery

It really sounds like you are dehydrated. There are some people who have had to go back to the hospital and have IV fluids. Being dehydrated definitely causes nausea. Most people go to the emergency room when they feel like you are describing. Are you on an acid blocker? The bile you are describing sounds like an acid problem. It also sounds like you're not getting answers from your doctor. If it were me, I would find another doctor. If you read this board, there a are only a few people who have had problems, and the hundreds of others are very happy with their sleeve surgery. Find out what is wrong because you should not have to live like this.

I know it won't bring world peace but ...

My food bill has gone down to nearly nothing. You know what is sad is, I have this desire when I see people out and about, at the mall, etc. and I want to shout out and tell them all about al WLS . I want everyone to be this happy.
  19. I am cleared to eat solids but haven't done it yet as I am under a lot of stress dealing with my dad's fractured pelvis. I am in Arizona and he fell again today and I am waiting to hear if he now has a broken hip. I have been eating around my brother who knows nothing about me having sleeve surgery so I am playing it safe and sticking with mushies. It's working out fine. I love that I am never hungry and don't have to worry about what to eat. I've just been eating those little tins of chicken salad. I keep them in my dad's room and then just have Soup when I go out with my brother. It's great! No hunger or feeling temped to eat a meal.

I know it won't bring world peace but ...

Flame you? I applaud you! Yes, life is a thousand percent happier at goal. There are some things that being thin won't change, but being healthy and feeling good about yourself is worth a million dollars to me!
  21. Oregondaisy

    Too skinny anyone?

Go in and read all the band to sleeve revision stories. go to lap band talk and read the complications section. Bands are a nightmare. Yes, you can control how much weight you lose with a sleeve. After you get to where you want to be, you add back healthy fats and healthy carbs. Do yourself a very big favor and research the band much more thoroughly.

    looking for a snack

Ok great! So many of those bullets are collegen protein.

    TMI...but I GOTTA ASK!!

It is absolutely normal. You can do a thread search if you want, but everyone complains - liquids in, liquids out! I feel for you. If you're on liquids now, you're going to be really tired of liquids on the post op diet!
  24. Oh I didn't even know people ate horses! I did lose most of my weight with the band, but the sleeve is what is keeping me at goal. I gained 30 of the 75 lbs I lost with the band back from band problems. Losing that plus more has been like a dream come true. I love never being hungry and not thinking about food constantly!
  25. Diva, I lost 22 lbs on the post op diet. That 50 lbs is going to be gone before you know it. I am so happy for you. I am having some out of town company for the next few days so I probably won't be in the chat room. I am dying to talk to you though. I am sure you thought Dr. Campos was dreamy!
