can anyone tell me the best way to utilize unflavored protien powder?
Oregondaisy replied to vicki s's topic in Food and Nutrition
I put it in sf Gatoraide , sf Power Aide , Crystal Lite, sf Hawaiian Punch etc -
Try to walk around as much as you can. That will get the gas moving out. Take miralax if you need to. It's not gritty and it's pretty much tasteless. Don't worry focus on Protein as much as you focus on getting some kind of liquids down. Look at before and after pictures when you feel down to see how great you're going to look soon! Things get better every day!

Who's see Dr. Alberto Aceves-Mexicali?
Oregondaisy replied to newmee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I never had a problem with anyone not being able to speak English. The nurses that work in the middle of the night don't speak English as well, but I never had any trouble understanding them, or having them understand me. -
Reading Protein Powder labels
Oregondaisy replied to citizenwill's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
BSN Lean Dessert is a Protein powder. It comes in chocolate, cinnamon bun, chocolate fudge pudding (which is a little thicker than the regular chocolate,) banana bread, banana pudding, (same thing it's a little thicker,) vanilla, and chocolate coconut. There maybe some other flavors that I don't remember. I get it at vitacost.com . Their shipping is 4.99 for no matter how much you order, If you go to the food section forum, there is a thread for places to order samples of all sorts of protein powders . That is what I would do, before I bought a lot of anything. BSN has some samples available if you go to that thread. -
Protein for Clear and Full
Oregondaisy replied to ButterflyBandita??'s topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
You can buy it online, at Netrition.com . Their shipping is 4.99 for no matter how much stuff you order. You can buy it at GNC and I believe the Vitamin Shop carries them too. I am sure some other people will say where they got theirs. A lot of people don't like it, so if you can get it at GNC, that would be good because as long as you save the receipt, you can return it. -
I did the best on egg drop soup when I was on liquids. The little bit of egg seemed to fill me up better than anything. The doctor said I could have that before mushies because the way the egg cooks in the soup, it's just like a liquid. I was hungry until I moved to mushies, but as soon as I felt hungry, I found something I could have. I didn't hate the Protein drinks so that helped. I mixed unflavored protein powder into any liquid I could find and it did seem to take the hunger away for awhile, and then I would just drink some more. I also had cream of chicken soup, and blended it til there were no chunks, and that held the hunger off too. You should be able to move to mushies soon.

Your body can only absorb 500 mg of calcium at a time, so make sure you space it out, at least 2 hours apart, 500 mg 3x per day.

Looking for a revision doctor in Washington State
Oregondaisy replied to BigClive's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I don't agree with that. My daughter had gastric bypass and she can eat about 4 times what I can eat. I would think if my stomach was going to stretch, it would have stretched by now at 18 months post op. It has stretched some, but nothing compared to my daughter. I can eat one piece of pizza and I am stuffed. She can eat 4 pieces of pizza easily. -

Have you read the thread "lets count Dr. Aceves patients? I would say he has done surgery on about half the people on this board. What would you like to know? I would be happy to tell you anything you would like to know. -
Looking for a revision doctor in Washington State
Oregondaisy replied to BigClive's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Why don't you just read all the band to sleeve revision stories in here? I don't agree that gastric bypass is better. Weight loss is the same, and with gastric bypass you will be looking at diligently taking all sorts of supplements for the rest of your life . Plus the gastric bypass stomach stretches out and the sleeved stomach is made from the non stretchy part of the stomach. -
scared, leak, please help!
Oregondaisy replied to KKB's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hope that you continue to feel better and are able to move on to liquids soon. I am sure this must be very hard for you. I know tiffy always says it was very hard but very worth it. Best wishes on continued progress and please keep us updated! -
I really like Greek yogurt with Stevia and I buy frozen blueberries. I put them in the microwave for a few seconds and they get all juicy. Mix it all together and it's like a dessert for me. It's very yummy. some people put sf jelly in there too. There are a lot of things you can do to make Greek yogurt very good. And they do make already flavored ones, but they have more carbs. Tiffy is right though. the sf cheesecake pudding makes it taste very good! There is a good chance your tastes will change after surgery. Many people say things they never liked before, they really like now.

Please Help!! Newbie Onboard

If there is a WLS exclusion on your policy, it's doubtful that they will pay. My insurance booklet says no WLS is covered for any reason. What is the wording of yours? -

Protein for Clear and Full
Oregondaisy replied to ButterflyBandita??'s topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Clear Protein is something like Isopure. It looks like kool aide. You can put unflavored protein powder in crystal light, sf gatoraide, sf poweraide etc. There is also unjury protein chicken broth. Syntrex Nectar also makes some clear protein. Clear protein is not necessarily clear, it can be cloudy but not thick, and no, chocolate is not a clear protein. Full liquid is drinkable yogurt, protein shakes that are thicker, and soups with no chunks in them. -

PROTEIN DRINKS AFTER SURGERY???
Oregondaisy replied to MS LISA's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What does your doctor say? If he said to be on clear liquids for 2 weeks, then no banana. Clear liquids don't necessarily have to be completely clear, but they are somewhat see through. Isopure is a clear liquid. You can put unflavored Protein powder into crystal light, gatoraide, poweraide, etc. It will be cloudy from the Protein Powder, but it's still a clear liquid. -

sick of puking - afraid I am going to become unhealthy
Oregondaisy replied to debinphoenix's topic in Food and Nutrition
Tiffy is right. You need to call your doctor and explain what is going on. -
I never counted anything other than protein and carbs. I would imagine if you put protein counter into google you'll come up with several places.

Popcorn is a real slider food. I can eat a huge bag of it at the movies. I do eat nuts too. I am not a drinker but I have had some alcohol and I get drunk now on one drink. You need to ask your doctor when you're cleared for nuts and popcorn though. I eat nuts daily because I believe healthy fat is good for us. Dr. OZ says we all should eat 10 almonds a day!

I am just copying and pasting this from another post where someone just asked the exact same question. As for Protein drinks, everybody is different. I really like BSN Lean Dessert. I get the chocolate fudge pudding, the banana pudding, and the Chocolate Coconut candy. Sometimes I mix the banana and the chocolate together. I get it at vitacost.com If I were you I would get some samples first. There is a thread in the food section where you can order samples from a lot of places. A lot of people like Chike. the orange cream is good. I still get samples just to have some variety.

Best protein shakes? PPI's? I'm Gassy

I like Protonix because it comes in generic and it's very inexpensive. It's as good as nexium or anything else that is very expensive. As for Protein drinks, everybody is different.
