If it's not an NSV, and not an SV, what is it?
Oregondaisy replied to Globetrotter's topic in The Lounge
I've lost 107 lbs and I know that I am wearing size 6's and 8's compared to 24s, but when I look at pictures of my face, I still think my face looks really fat. Even at 130 lbs, I still hate having my picture taken. It's hard. We are our own worst critics. I have boxes and boxes of clothes that are too big for me, but it's taken me all this time to realize I can actually get rid of them. I was sure I would gain it back. Be kind to yourself. You will get down to where you want to be. I wore all my old clothes too until they were falling off of me and I still thought they fit fine. People had to tell me to buy new clothes! -
You need to read the band to sleeve revision forum. Your story is like all of ours. Living with the sleeve is pretty effortless. The band was a nightmare. There are many people who have horrible band problems that do great with the sleeve. I sure wish I had gotten the sleeve first!

Yes, a carb is a carb and it really does not matter where it comes from . Your body treats carbs like sugar . There are healthy carbs which would be the first choice if you're going to eat carbs, like the ones that come from veggies . I would stay away from carrots, corn, and peas which are all high carb veggies. The South Beach diet is a great plan to follow . I agree with that too.

I agree with Tiff. Keep your carbs under 30 grams per day and you will lose weight. Carbs are evil. If you eat them, you will crave more. Tell us what kinds of things you are eating, and maybe we can be of more help.

I tried making a new ticker. I got an error message. This is the same way I always did it before and now it's not working. I don't know what I am doing wrong.

DUMPING Syndrome...it's not just for bypass patients
Oregondaisy replied to AJW's topic in Food and Nutrition
I get it too. It's usually from food that is both high sugar and high fat. sometimes I am fine with that same food , other times it makes me really sick. I called Dr. Campos and he said it was dumping. It's from foods not being in the tiny stomach long enough and too much fat or sugar gets into the blood stream quickly. It's no fun. -
I drink a Protein drink every day for Breakfast. I do use Protein Bars as Snacks. There are a lot of things you can have on the mushie stage. Fish is a mushie, so is chili, tuna salad, basically anything that is not completely solid, such as steak.

CHAT ROOM - NEW SITE??
Oregondaisy replied to mellifrits's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Most of us are still chatting in the old room. You have to go to Lapbandtalk.com and go to chat and then go to the sleeve room. I have sent a private message to Alex and he says we are going to get our old chat room back here. I don't read the pink and purple board. Down at the bottom of the board, there is a place to change to the IP board, and there are no ads on that board. The chat option isn't even on the IP board. -
Did anyone else have this fear?
Oregondaisy replied to Lila21's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You're very welcome. I know Dr. Aceves does not recommend the Plication because he feels it would be much easier to have the remaining stomach stretch out with this procedure . I totally trust his opinion. -
Did anyone else have this fear?
Oregondaisy replied to Lila21's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did not have that fear because having all that extra stomach did me no favors. It made me want to stuff myself beyond it's capacity. Besides, I had a boyfriend die from stomach cancer. When they discovered the cancer, they did not just remove part of his stomach. They removed his entire stomach. I have read the chances of getting stomach cancer with the amount of stomach that we have left is very rare. -
If you're going to have a month off work, you'll be fine. There are a lot of things you can order eating out. For the most part, if I don't have someone to share a meal with, I order off the appetizer menu. Fish and Shrimp are always easy for me to eat. Soups are good choices too, but they don't always stay with me as long. I've always been able to eat deli meat pretty easily too, so if I order a sandwich, I just take out the fillings and leave the bread.

There are quite a few of us who are band to sleeve revisions. There is a band to sleeve forum. Life with a sleeve is great. I eat small meals and have had no trouble staying at goal. I don't have any of the problems I had from the band. I was a self pay for both the band and the sleeve, and I don't regret for one second having that band removed.

Over 60 and having the sleeve
Oregondaisy replied to ginnylee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am pretty close to 60 . I just turned 58 on the 25th of this month. I've lost all my weight and at times, I feel like a teenager. -
How many surgery scars do you have?
Oregondaisy replied to M2G's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have 15 . I got 5 from the band surgery, 5 for the sleeve surgery, and 7 months later, 5 more for the gall bladder removal. The only ones that still really show are the gb ones. The rest have faded so much, you can barely see them. -
2 Surgeries for Revision from Band to VSG?
Oregondaisy replied to JustMeFrisco's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Most surgeons take out the band and do the revision to the sleeve at the same time. I have heard of a few doing it in two different surgeries but it's not the norm. -

Oregondaisy replied to 6kiddos's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you sure caltrate is calcium citrate not calcium carbonate? I thought someone had said it's calcium carbonate. -

Protein Shake Alternatives
Oregondaisy replied to Fleur de lis's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
See if you can buy some Syntrax nectar. There is a place to order samples in the food section but I think they sell them at GNC. I think the Caribbean cooler was good and so was the chocolate truffle. Made with Water, they are very thin. If they are too sweet, just dump in half the packet and more water. -
Gastric Sleeve Experts... Please Chime In!
Oregondaisy replied to lillita's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lost all m weight. If you stick to Protein first and a little veggies when you have room, you can't help but lose. Try not to worry. Of course if you cheat and eat candy which goes down very easily. that will change everything. You can do it if you are dedicated to following the rules and adding some exercise in. -
Protien shots are made from collegan which is boiled cow hide- not a good source of protien.Go to the food section of this board and look at all the places you can order samples. Chike orange is really good. so is PVL whey gourmet Peanut Butter and chocolate. some of the nectar drinks are pretty sweet but you could always use more Water and make two out of one packet.

Struggling with liquid diet
Oregondaisy replied to Monday_thru_Friday's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't want to tell you not to follow your doctors orders . this is pre op though so you're not going to hurt a staple line. Personally, I think chicken breast is much more filling , is low in calories and has no carbs What would be the difference if you at a little bit of chicken breast when you are really hungry?
