Oregondaisy replied to pcos_chick's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You can send a private message to Alex owner of the board. There is no guarantee he will answer, but I have to say, he does usually answer me. -

I hope he can get it all figured out for you. It really does not make sense. I guess that's why they are doctors and we are not. you need answers! -

well that's good news .Tiff I hope the pain stays GONE! -
There is a reason Dr. Aceves is the surgeon who gave over half the board a sleeve. He is an excellent surgeon and practices out of a clean modern hospital. You will not find one unhappy dr. Aceves patients.

Longest Stall Contest
Oregondaisy replied to weightnomore's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went on a stall once that lasted 4 months. My body never wanted to lose consistently. I always lost, then would not lose again for weeks, then drop 5 lbs. -
Band or sleeve...how do you decide?
Oregondaisy replied to apw0's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
If you get the band, you'll end up just getting a revision surgery to a sleeve sometime in the future. Just read the band to sleeve stories. It's not easy to live with the band. Constant throwing up, never knowing if a food that you've eaten before is going to make you throw up this time. Constant fills "oh that's too much" time for an unfill. Then If you're like me, you start throwing up in your sleep and have to have all fill removed. An unfilled band does not work. I am thrilled with my sleeve. Eating is effortless and life is so good. -
My hair is falling out :(
Oregondaisy replied to Fleur de lis's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have had hair falling out and new hair growing in since 4 months post op. It just stopped. I am hardly losing hair now at 20 months. I have new hair all different lengths all over the place. It fell out and started growing back in for the last 16 months. -
How much was your self pay?
Oregondaisy replied to NanaNanner's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you're going to Mexico please don't decide by the price. I know everyone wants to save money because this is very expensive. Choosing a doctor whose skill level is in question with a lot of people getting infections after surgery, is not a good choice. The price may very well be lower, but research any doctor you are thinking of . It's easy to research a doctor to find out if the people who went to them and the facility which they practice out of , got any infections or leaks. This is your life. You a putting your life in someone's hands who is going to cut off 85% of your stomach. -
Official Ongoing Gastric Sleeve Maintenance Thread
Oregondaisy replied to Oregondaisy's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
pumpkin you should look into buying some Calcium citrate online. I can't take those petites either. Plus they don't have all that much calcium in them. I have Bariatric Advantage chocolate chews on auto ship. they are 9.99. They are so good. I also take a liquid that I get at costco. I think chewables and liquids are better ever since my surgeon told me when he does colonoscopys he finds whole tablets undigested in people's colons. I am still on my way back down to goal. I went a little crazy during the holidays and now I am taking back off what I gained. Maintenance is tricky. For awhile I was able to eat anything I wanted and didn't gain. I took advantage of that, and it's not as easy to lose now, as it was fresh out from surgery. -
Before we got the new layout for the board, there were a lot of us who liked chatting in the evenings. Then chat disappeared for ahwile, but it's back again. I am going to leave the window open and hope someone decides to check it out. I can hear the door bell ring when someone comes into the chat room.

Carbs, how much is too much?
Oregondaisy replied to disp4so's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I could not lose if my carb count went over 30 per day. -
I eat salads too. Salads are not all that filling. Everything chews down to nothing other than the chicken. I buy tysons cooked chicken strips to put on my salads. I usually add broccoli, zuchhini , cucumber, really whatever I feel like . I buy Spring Mix in the bag then add the other stuff. As far as other veggies, I don't do very well. If out , I always ask for extra veggies instead of the side of potato or whatever they else they have if I am eating out. I will sometimes cook asparagus. As far as fruit, it's not a good time for fruit. I add frozen blueberries to my plain yogurt, I also like those little tangerines or mandarin oranges, In the summer I eat strawberries, raspberries blueberries and nectarines

Please join us on the maintenance thread! I know very few people who kept right on losing when their body got to where it wanted to be. I can't wait to hear what Mini's nutritionist has to say. -
Day 13 and had a small slip am I ruined now!
Oregondaisy replied to karrieremmer's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Follow your doctors orders. The post op diet is very important because you do not want to put stress on that staple line. People do get leaks for that reason and believe me, they are completely horrible. Then you're looking at a feeding tube! -
What are you eating and drinking now? Are you drinking any protein drinks? What about mushies? If I had more information about what you're eating and drinking, I would be able to steer you in the right direction.

That sounds so easy and yummy!

This is why journaling food is so important!!!
Oregondaisy replied to MINI-Me's topic in Rants & Raves
Mini, you really didn't go over your goal of 1500 calories by very much! 200 calories is not going to pack the weight on! Maintenance is tricky. Just weigh yourself every day. -
Questioning and Doubting
Oregondaisy replied to tntransplant06's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think I eat very normally. I go on dates and spend time with a lot of people who don't even know I had surgery. The post op diet is very important because you don't want to be stressing out that staple line. Once you're off the post op diet, life is good! -
Official Ongoing Gastric Sleeve Maintenance Thread
Oregondaisy replied to Oregondaisy's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
Globetrotter you don't have to be on maintenance to post on this thread! I totally agree that people medicate themselves with food. That is something that makes maintenance a challenge. We have a honeymoon phase with this surgery, and after that it's much easier to gain. It's too bad that can't fix our brains when they fix our stomachs! -
Congratulations! That is great news. If you would like to join us on the maintenance thread, we would love to have you!

Help, surgery this Wed....
Oregondaisy replied to AMLP's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeast infections are a real pain. I used to get them all the time. Can your doctor call a script in for you to get some dyflucan? it's a pill and is way better than those creams and suppositories. Don' t worry if you have your period on/near your surgery date. It happens all the time and I have never heard of anyone's surgery being postponed because of it. -
What to eat before early morning workout???
Oregondaisy replied to BrittanyAnn1's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I drink a protein shake before working out and sometimes a protein bar instead.
