As far as fiberous foods go, I do remember someone writing in here that they had to have something removed with a scope that would not digest. I can't remember what it was though! For the most part, you can eat anything after your're approved for full diet. It all boils down to how fast do you want to lose? If you keep your carbs low, under 30 grams you will definitely lose faster. Personally, I like to have some fruit sometimes and that's where I get my carbs from. After you get to your goal weight, it's a juggling act after you meet your Protein needs to see what else you can eat without gaining weight back. There is no hard and fast rule that you have to stay off carbs forever.

That's why I always say weigh every day. It's a lot easier to keep a handle on it that way. You'll be able to tell when you get to the point where you're not continuiing to lose unless you snack. l -

I worked out with the trainer this morning and it felt really good . I am really glad I am going to be learning some new stuff. This could end up costing me a fortune, because I'd like to keep her around permanently but for now I paid for 5 sessions and will reevaluate after that. I have a feeling I will need to pay for 5 more. I don't think anyone needs to worry about losing too much. From everything I have read, after the 2 year mark, our bodies adjust to what we have been feeding it, and it's not as easy to maintain. I think that's where I am at, even though it won't be 2 years til april for me. I used to be able to sneak in a goodie here and there, and not gain, but now it seems like I gain immediately if I don't stick exactly to my plan. I wish i was not able to finish a whole cupcake. I wish I got really full on the size of portions I ate a year ago but the sleeve does stretch. I think it has stretched all that it's going to though. I decided today to come home and rest for awhile and then go back to the gym and do some more cardio. -

I am sure it will bounce around within a few lbs. depending on what is going on in your life. You know, social engagements, eating out, days where you feel like snacking..... My problem was I should have got a handle on it before it went up past 5. -

Be glad to share what she says. I can't remember what you said your nutritionist said about maintenance when you met her. Did you learn anything? -

I changed my ticker. I am really having trouble losing the weight I gained over the holidays. I am exercising and eating right and the scale is not budging. I hired a personal trainer and will start with her tomorrow. maybe I can learn something new for my work out sessions that will get things going again. -

Is anyone having problems with bowel movement?
Oregondaisy replied to valleygirl's topic in Food and Nutrition
This is a problem with most sleevers. I swear by Miralax. I take a half a dose every other day and it's great. It used to be a prescription and I remember my .mother's doctor prescribing it to her and telling me it's perfectly safe to use every day -
I really think having more food choices will make living and losing with the sleeve much easier. I know we are all impatient and want to be at goal as fast as possible, but we all get there at our own rate. Most people do reach their goal with the sleeve though and you will too!

It depends on what time zone you are in . I am on the west coast and there are a lot of west coast chatters. I try to remember to check around 6 pm pacific time. I open the window and leave it open and do other things on the computer. I can hear the door bell ring when someone logs into the chat room.

Everyone is deficient in vit D these days. It's only recently that doctors started checking for it regularly. Mine was really low. I could not get it to come up. I finally contacted Michelle at Vitalady and I got the dry vit. d 50,000 which I took once a week. It came up quite a bit but not where I want it to be. My friend who is also a sleeved friend is a nurse, and she had the same problem. She told me to take the 50,000 dry vit d every 5 days and that's what I am doing now. I'll get tested again in a couple of months. So I am with Tiffy. Contact vitalady and get the dry 50,000. It took probably at least 6 months for mine to come all the way up.

Need your hair loss experiences
Oregondaisy replied to 2bslimkim's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I would say I lost 2/3 of my hair. I am lucky that I had really thick hair to begin with. I took Biotin from the first day I thought I might have sugery and I am still taking it. I also take a special hair and nails Vitamin. I got my Protein in over and above what was required from day one I used all sorts of special shampoos, including nioxin and biotin shampoo. Nothing I tried made any difference at all. I kept losing it until recently. I have new hair coming in all over the place. My hair looks like it's layered from all the new growth coming in at different times. From what I have read and been told, this is all perfectly normal. I do know some people who did not lose as much as I did, but they still lost hair mostly from 3-4 months until about 9 months post op.I read a lot of articles about it, and there is really nothing you can do to stop it. -

I do believe it's 2 days of liquids, 2 days of mushies then 2 days of solid Protein. You can put it in google and find it. google 5 day pouch test. It's supposed to get rid of carb cravings. -
Before we got the new forum set up, the chat room was really becoming popular. There were a bunch of us in there talking all the time. Please keep chat going ! You can look around the board or surf the net and leave 2 windows open. then you'll hear the door bell ring when someone enters the chat room. I am leaving the chat window open!

Was it difficult to make? I don't cook or bake much so if there are a lot of steps to follow , and a lot of ingredients to add in, I 'd probably mess it up. I do want to make Protein ice cream though!

Can't wait to hear more. 3,000 is a lot of money but if it works without a big scar , it' worth every penny.

Not Quite A Year Out ...
Oregondaisy replied to MINI-Me's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
You look fabulous Mini. I hope you will pass along what the nutritionist had to say. I don't have one available to me so I have no idea what a nutritionist would say about the way we eat. -
How much was your self pay?
Oregondaisy replied to NanaNanner's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a revision from lab band to sleeve by Dr. Aceves for $10,000. I can't recommend him highly enough. He has sleeved over half the people on this board and you won't find anyone who has anything but wonderful things to say about him, the staff and the beautiful hospital. -
frightened and confused...
Oregondaisy replied to faithstar's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
This is not a diet. You HAVE to learn a new way of life, an eating plan that you're going to be able to stick with the rest of your life. It's good that you're seeing a professional. They are trained in eating disorders and it would be good if a lot of us could see one,. Unfortunately, it can be expensive even though it would be so beneficial. The sleeve is a great tool. It limits your portions, but you do have to learn to not eat when you're not hungry and how to deal with head hunger. Head hunger is a pest in our heads that's always there hiding and whispering. My new best friend is herbal tea. -
Dont want the Sleeve
Oregondaisy replied to FallenAngel's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You have a lot of weight to lose no matter which surgery you have. It's going to be difficult along the way regardless of which surgery you have. Studies are now showing people losing as much with the sleeve as they do with by pass. It's wonderful not to have to worry about Vitamin deficiencies, and Iron infusion. The gastric bypass is not as completely wonderful like people are led to believe. You can lose all you weight with the sleeve if you follow all the rules, and have less chance of gaining it back. -

My new thing is herbal tea. It seems to be a fine replacement for snacking.I am going to load up on herbal tea and green tea and up all my protein until I am back to where I was before the 2 month long holiday. -
Protein shakes and vitamens
Oregondaisy replied to Dusti's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I deinitely love Bariatric Advantage chcolate chews calcium citrate. If you put it on auto ship, it's only 9.99. It's not enough calcium to meet the daily requirements so I use a liquid calcium that I get at costco for the rest of my calcium. Or I order then from vitacost.com 9.99 for 60 chewables which are 500 mg each. As far as Protein powders, get some samples before you buy a bunch of anything. You can get the list of where to get samples from the food forum on this board. There is a thread "places to order samples"
