Obstructed by a "bezoar", has anyone else heard of this?
Oregondaisy replied to Vampyrvet's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Cajun! Good to see you. I don't think I have seen you posting in awhile. -
I am in my 50's for a little while longer. I am 58. I've been at goal for a year and I love the attention I am getting from men. I've been a widow for a number of years so getting thin has brought me dates and a much more interesting life!

What is VGB (vertical banded gastroplasty)? How is it different from the sleeve? I wish the OP would have come back and told us if they had to go in and get it out or if she was able to dissolve it. I'll have to remember this post if I try to eat an Almond Joy! -
New here and need some advice
Oregondaisy replied to new_beginnings_'s topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Glad to have you join us here at sleeve talk.! Most people have pretty uneventful surgeries but some people have trouble drinking in the beginning. If you have a hard time drinking, be sure to at least sip water every few minutes. -
Day After Surgery - Would Love Some Input
Oregondaisy replied to MsPuse's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You might want to try some Isopure Protein Drinks. I don't think they are as nasty as the bullets. You would have to ask a nutritionist or dr. about whether it would meet your Water requirements that way. It does get easier! -
Cardshark, aren't you on sleevetalk too? Anyway, if you're not go to verticalsleevetalk.com the sister of this site. There are a lot of us band to sleeve revisions over there. Nope no, side effects. Just small portions of anything I want!

GPS Update: Important new information
Oregondaisy replied to DrWatkins's topic in Gastric Plication Surgery Forum
I'd like to know the answer to this myself. I have heard Dr. Aceves won't do plication but I have never heard them say that. You're saying you know him on a first name basis and can call him anytime and he is saying there is nothing wrong with plication? If that is true, ask him why he is not doing that surgery ? -

There are plenty of people who have lost 150 lbs with the sleeve. The sleeve is the best option for anyone . Having your intestines cut and rearranged is insane. -
Question for all you sugar-free eaters...
Oregondaisy replied to Disney's topic in Food and Nutrition
My Protein Powder made with Water is 120 calories. A lot of people put strawberries, etc and blend them up until they're liquid. There are ways to get more calories in. I agree though. During the post op phase, it's not all that important for all the liquids to be sf other than sugar causes cravings. -
Throwing Up every Night..Please Help
Oregondaisy replied to Maggie63's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am really glad I had my band removed almost 2 years ago. Life with the sleeve is so much easier. No pbing, no food getting stuck, no throwing up in the middle of the night choking and coughing. Now I just eat small portions and I am never hungry. I love the sleeve! -
You can build muscle in your arms to make them look better, but not good. It really depends on how much skin was stretched out there. Building muscle in the triceps is difficult but can be done. I've been working on it ever since I was sleeved and I only see a slight improvement.

Places to get liquid protein samples
Oregondaisy replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Protein powder does clump if you heat it hotter than lukewarm . I don't know of any protein powder that you can use that way. You can get BSN Lean Dessert at vitacost.com I think it's 14.99 BSN has all the right types of protein in it that we need I love BSN! -
I revised to a sleeve almost 2 years ago. I didn't realize just how many things I could not eat with a band. I love the sleeve. I never PB, and food never gets stuck. I can eat anything I want in small portions and I have been maintaining at goal for over a year.

Do Sleevers Smell Bad?
Oregondaisy replied to crosswind's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Dr. Aceves is always available through email. Usually it's Dr. Campos that is the one that calls back. It's very frustrating to read everyone else say that they have no gas. I haven't had any today. there are some days where it's like every 5 min. I am one of the few people that dump too. I get really sick if I eat something high in sugar and high in fat. Of course I don't do that very often. Once I had a small piece of wedding cake and it was extremely horrible. -
Do Sleevers Smell Bad?
Oregondaisy replied to crosswind's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a terrible gas problem. It's limiting what I can do in my social life. I did go online and found some pills that supposedly if you take every single day, it won't smell offensive. I took them once and threw them up. It may have been because I took them on an empty stomach. I do know if I am really careful about what I eat all day long, I can go out socially that evening. Sometimes there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason why I get the gas. It's a huge problem though! All I know is, I never had this problem when I was banded or before WLS. -
Mushies? What are yours?
Oregondaisy replied to papi chulo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You need to find a Protein shake that you like. In the food section, there is a thread that shows all the places you can order samples. Good mushies are egg, tuna or chicken salad. Make it soupy with a lot of low fat mayo. Also string cheese, soft deli meats like deli turkey and there is a recipe in the food section for a ricotta bake that is good. A lot of people eat a lot of chili during the mushi phase. Make sure you chop up the group meat very finely. -
I am really sorry to hear about your leak. That has to be very difficult not being able to eat or drink. Hang in there! You're getting skinnier and skinner by the minute and it will be so worth it in the end.

Official Ongoing Gastric Sleeve Maintenance Thread
Oregondaisy replied to Oregondaisy's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
It's still a daily battle for me. There are too many good, and fattening things in this world, and having a sleeve does not make them taste anything but good, and they are just as fattening as ever. Some things, the sleeve will not let me eat as much as I could before sleeve surgery. Other things, I can eat like there is no sleeve all. It still comes down to willpower and making good choices. -
you'll lose. Just keep doing what you're doing . You are eating right. It does go much slower for people who aren't all that big to begin with.

Okay, this is getting ridiculous!
Oregondaisy replied to weightnomore's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You are not eating nearly enough Protein. Your body is holding on to weight because it thinks it's starving. Most people need at least a min of 60 grams of protein per day but 80 is better. Again, most people can't lose very well unless they cut their carbs to around 20-30 Try that for a week and see what happens! -
BSN lean dessert is my favorite. I like the chocolate fudge pudding. I like the banana pudding too and I mix the two together sometimes.

New outlook, new viewpoint
Oregondaisy replied to lash44's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Things will get back to normal eventually. I eat pretty much anything I want. I know how much I can eat and I make adjustments but I do eat anything I want to eat every day. -

painful "hunger", does not feel like hunger, only pain
Oregondaisy replied to AMLP's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You need to talk to your doctor. Most doctors put their patients on an acid blocker for at least 6 months after sleeve surgery. It definitely sounds like acid and you need a prescription. -
Any advice??Band has slipped a 2nd time now considering the sleeve
Oregondaisy replied to love2shop's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Well thank you! I wish they would just take that band off the market and save people from so much misery! The sleeve is definitely a far superior WLS!
