Are you a You Tuber?
Oregondaisy replied to meggiep's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Can somebody explain Utube to me? I have watched things before when people have sent links to me. I had no idea that certain subjects like WLS can be grouped together. how do you do this? You record with your phone and how does it get on to the computer? -
I can't drink milk at all but I can eat cheese and yogurt. I can eat a little bit of ice cream but more than that I have diarrhea pretty quickly. It's pretty common for sleeve patients to become lactose intolerant. You will just have to experiment to see what works and what doesn't. Tiffy is right. I get really sick on high fat high sugar foods. It's dumping syndrome, according to Dr. Aceves, too much sugar and fat goes into our systems too quickly because our stomachs are so small. It's not only diarrhea. I get nauseous and sweaty and feel really sick.

How do you see it? I saw the first picture, then a big pop up came wanting me to subscribe to time magazine. I didn't see anywhere I could click it off but I couldn't get to the next picture. That thing covered everything! I really wanted to see that. It looked very interesting Mini!

I think I kinda skipped a "eating" stage
Oregondaisy replied to Sara Ann's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
And a leak. People get leaks from putting too much pressure on the staple line. -
That is so cool Irene! You will be at goal before you know it!

It's all the people who had gastric bypass who have gained it all back. People with a band usually don't get down to their goal weight, and still end up gaining weight back after they have such bad acid refulx that they have to have all their fill taken out. Tell your mother you researched it and this surgery has the best record for keeping it off. ( unless you start eating a lot of candy and chips every day) I am going to be celebrating two years soon . I am still not hungry and only gain weight if I decide to go and eat a bunch of junk food. I am able to take it off when I eat Protein first and veggies if I have room.

Am I eating Enough?
Oregondaisy replied to irkenpanda's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have heard that you can't absorb more than 25-30 grams of protein at once. There are different thoughts on that as far as just how many grams of protein you can absorb at once. -
protein that tastes good
Oregondaisy replied to ireland's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Go to the food section of this board and you 'll find places to order samples. I think samples are the way to go so you don't get stuck with anything you don't like. There is also a complete list that someone did and I copied that lists his opinion of the very best to the bad Protein drinks. If you like Isopure, it's the way to go for the clear stage. -
Am I eating Enough?
Oregondaisy replied to irkenpanda's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Do you have a Protein drink that you like? It's very common to have to supplement with a Protein Drink until you are able to eat more. Yes, what you're experiencing is normal. Gradually, you will be able to eat more. -
F'd by lapband BIGTIME!
Oregondaisy replied to SpeedyCheeks's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am so sorry to hear this. I know 2 friends of mine that have serious damage as well. One will probably end up with esophageal cancer I am so glad I had that thing out as soon as I could I did lose a lot of weight with it but I would have gained it all back because I had to stay completely unfilled because of the problems. I gained 15 back waiting for sleeve surgery. -
I can't Zumba anymore It hurts my back, neck and knees. I was in pain for weeks even after I stopped doing it. My friend got a stress fracture in her leg, and I have another friend who broke a bone in her foot doing Zumba. All I can say is be careful! They have Zumba gold which is no jumping and slower, but it's not nearly as much fun for me.

I want to try making some Protein ice cream. Can anyone recommend an ice cream maker? I want one that's not very expensive and is easy to operate. -
How do you get in the protein?
Oregondaisy replied to sunshine6855's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There is nothing wrong with supplementing with a protein shake until you are able to eat as much as you need. Cottage cheese is very high in protein. So is chicken salad. I had to eat two tablespoons every 2 hours. -
You can probably exchange the choc. and vanilla for the Isopure that comes in clears in bottles. There are many flavors. The fruit punch one seems to be popular as well as the grape. If you tasted it and liked it, you could save it for full liquids.

I don't answer questions on stalls because I don't have any magic answers. I stalled all the time. I would loose 5 lbs in a week and then not lose anything for weeks and weeks. I didn't do anything different, and I would drop another 5 and go on another stall. I just did what I was supposed to which was Protein first and veggies if there was room. I kept my carbs around or under 30 which I mainly got from Greek Yogurt.

Rating protein powders
Oregondaisy replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
The PVL Whey Gourmet that you get at Netrition.com is very good. I just think it's on the expensive side. I just tried Jay Robb this weekend. I bought the Pina Colada and have not tried that yet. The Orange tasted pretty close to the Chike orange. It tasted good, but I like mine thicker. -
Why am I not losing weight faster?
Oregondaisy replied to Seattle1880's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your eating looks great. You will lose. Everyone loses differently. You might be one of those people who doesn't lose very much, and then all of a sudden, will lose 5 lbs in a week. I always stalled, then would drop 5 lbs, then go on another stall. Start exercising when you feel better and that will speed things up some too. -
Band to Sleeve Revision
Oregondaisy replied to nan5622's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
It's a piece of cake. Living with the sleeve is effortless. I can eat anything I want. ANYTHING! Nothing gets stuck and life is good -
Bread? Will it always be toasted?
Oregondaisy replied to daezeey's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I eat bread without problems but not often because of carbs and bread is just too filling. I do like the sandwich thins and the bagel thins they have come out with . Again, it's more like a treat and not something I have very often. Every once in awhile, I crave a ham sandwich. 1/2 of one of those sandwich thins is perfect. -
What Protein Drinks work when you're on clears?
Oregondaisy replied to crosswind's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I used GNC unflavored protein powder and put it in crystal light and all the other sugar free drinks over by the crystal light at Walmart. -
Having a hard time finding hood tasting calcium..
Oregondaisy replied to Smof4's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Bariatric Advantage has both chocolate chews which I believe come in lemon also, and some tablets that are cocoa flavored that are ok. I have the choc chews on auto ship It's 9.99 for 60 of them. That is not enough calcium since that is only 500 and you need 1500. I get a liquid at costco that I would not say is tasty, but 1 table spoon a day I can do. I also get some chewable tablets at vitacost.com They are orange flavored and way too sweet. I just chew them fast and then drink some Water. I worry about those big horse pills getting digested properly and breaking down. My surgeon said he has seen them on a colonoscopy. -
sleeve-not what I expected

Have you heard of stalls? They happen to all of us. When you say no restriction, how much meat are you able to eat at dinner? -
Going to Mexico and worried
Oregondaisy replied to EJStorm's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was fine. It was not a big deal. I felt good and ready to travel by the time I was dismissed from the hospital. I had plenty of time at the San Diego airport to take my time getting to the gate to wait for the plane. Don't pack a lot in your suit case. You don't really need anything other than a thin robe and flip flops. It will be hot in Mexicali this time of year. I wore loose fitting capri pj bottoms and a big tshirt in the hospital. I had loose fitting clothes I wore on both flights to the hospital and back home. Feel free to ask me anything . It will be two years soon since I saw Dr. Aceves and I remember quite well how beautiful it was outside and how much I loved taking walks every day around the hospital. -
Are We Doing Atkins After Being Sleeved????
Oregondaisy replied to Saved By The Sleeve's topic in Food and Nutrition
For me, unless I restrict carbs, I don't lose. I don't restrict veggies or yogurt that have carbs. I have eaten carbs if I have room but I rarely do. I gained 8 lbs over the holidays because I ate too many carbs and it's been harder than ever to get it back off. That's what I get for eating whatever I wanted. Now, it's much harder than it was when I was first sleeved. -
Proteing shake Issues!
Oregondaisy replied to angelantx's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I make the BSN with Water. It's not thick at all. I have a little mini blender that only does up to 12 oz so maybe it doesn't whip it as hard to make so many bubbles. It was cheap at Walmart. I make all my Protein drinks with water.
