Please all that can, answer this question for me
Oregondaisy replied to Michelle Cicerello's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was not nauseous or in pain . The day after surgery, I was walking around outside of the hospital all day long. I was so bored in my room. -
Stuck and not going anywhere
Oregondaisy replied to jodi816's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You need to tell us what you are eating. If we knew the amount of calories and carbs you are eating, we would be able to advise easier. I really like my fitness pal. It has everything in the data base. I was eating a lot more calories than I thought, once I started tracking my calories and carbs. -
I don't get the "don't eat bread"
Oregondaisy replied to tntransplant06's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Bread is just very filling. I don't buy it, but if I am out to eat and they pass a bread basket, sometimes I will eat part of a piece. It feels like it makes me so full, I can barely eat anything else. It also feels like it stops me up, like a drain that is plugged. I imagine a big glob of chewed up bread at the bottom of my stomach. It feels like it won't digest. I have eaten half sandwiches and removed part of the bread, but again, it feels funny in my sleeve, like it doesn't fit in there right. It's kind of hard to explain. Crunchy carbs go down much easier, but I do try to stay away from them. I am one of those people who craves more carbs if I eat them. I don't like having cravings! -
How do you keep carbs so low?
Oregondaisy replied to apple-saucy's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
It would help if you told us what you like to eat and we can tell you how to cut back on the carbs. A lot of people don't realize there are a lot of carbs in foods they think are healthy foods. I do get most of my carbs from my Greek Yogurt. I like the kind with fruit already in it. If I really want to cut my carbs, I eat plain and add sf syrup. -
hey I was chatting with you and accidentally got disconnected. I tried to come back but you were already gone. I hope to see you in chat
again soon!

What to bring as gifts, if not food
Oregondaisy replied to Lots Of Hope's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I bring flowers if it's summertime. In the winter, I bring fruit or depending on the occasion, a fruit salad. Sometimes a gift, like candles. -

Do you feel like you can eat a lot when it's solid Protein? Sometimes I feel like I can eat too much, but then I have something like steak, and I realize just how little I can eat. All chips Cookies, etc, slide right through and I don' t even consider that my sleeve has stretched. I knew along what slider foods are. I gained 8 lbs over Christmas and at nearly 2 years out, it was hard to lose it. I had to be very diciplined to eat solid protein for 3 meals and only one healthy snack in the evenings. Maintenance is tricky. There is no doubt about it. If I went back to my old eating habits before WLS, I am sure I would gain a lot of weight back quickly. I have to weigh every day to keep myself accountable. I am thrilled now that I am 2 years post op, and I have no "bounce back" as they call it. It would have been very easy to just maintain the 8 lb gain instead of using what I learned to take it back off.

Hair Thinning
Oregondaisy replied to Youngandwildresa93's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I used Nioxin and it didn't help one bit. All it did was make my hair dry. I lost about 2/3 of my hair and I took every Vitamin and supplement or shampoo i was told about. I got all my Protein in from day one. I've been taking Biotin since 06. I don't know if it helped, but I take it anyway. I have new hair growing in all over the place -

Erin, You should ask your doctor for a prescription for an anti nausea medication. That could be a big help. I remember in the beginning, I was only able to eat a teaspoon of tuna, chicken, or egg salads. Those were the first things I ate constantly before I could move to something else. I made it really soupy. Also the poweraide or gatoraide are good for you too. You shouldn't have to even drink sugar free because you're hardly eating. Can you google or look in the phone book for a bariatric doctor and call one yourself? I am so sorry Erin that you are going through this.

5 days post op-dehydration and pneumonia
Oregondaisy replied to climbthestairs's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wonder why you are dehydrated. Did you not sip on liquids throughout the day when you were in the hospital? People can get pneumonia from being in bed and not walking around. Did they give you something to blow in throughout the day at the hospital? I am sure you're on antibiotics and just remember you have to constantly sip sip sip to get your fluids in so you don't get dehydrated again. -
WTH is protein water????
Oregondaisy replied to ranchersdaughter's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love Muscle milk! K20 is the Kellogs product but it hardly has any Protein. For the consistency of Water if you don't like Isopure, try the nectar products by Syntrex. There is a thread in the food section where you can order all sorts samples of Protein drinks. The Nectar samples are there and they are very popular. -
Everyone is right. You need to concentrate on fluids right now because dehydration causes all sorts of problems, including nausea. Have you tried the Kellogs K20 Protein drinks? They do not have that protein taste. They taste more like a koolaide or crystal light. gatoraide or poweaide is good too, as someone stated . You should try to get a hold of your doctor's office too an tell them how you are feeling. There are other places to order samples too, if you look in the food section .

Did you do anything differently? Did you add more exercise or change the amount of calories or carbs? Congratulations on breaking the stall, but it would be great if you could post whatever you thought help break it so others could benefit. Everyone gets so frustated when they stall!

Thank you everyone! That study I read was a new sleeve study. I know the regain is much higher for Gastric Bypass patients. Diva is right though. It is necessary for me to weigh every day and not let 2 lbs get away from me. I was foolish at Christmas because it was always so easy to take a few lbs off with the sleeve if I "overindulged" in the past. This time I did everything right and the scale did not move. It was the same thing as in the past, I'd lose a lb during the week and gain it back on the weekend. I finally got a handle on it and it took working out hard and making sure I had nothing in between meals. Now I am much more careful and I don't take my sleeve for granted.

I only use fire fox so I don't know why that would be a problem. What happens when you click on chat on the right corner up above? -
My vitamin D does not stay up unless I do the 50,000 once a week. I was taking 2,000 per day for months and it did not go up at all. The 50,000 once a week brought it up to 80.

scared i drank to much
Oregondaisy replied to justdance's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Why is your diet so strict that you can't have the things that most people can have on the post op diet, like ricotta cheese? is it because of the complication after surgery? -
Scroll down the forums to the food section and you will find "protein drinks and powders"There is a thread called places to order samples"

scared i drank to much
Oregondaisy replied to justdance's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was supposed to drink 2 oz every 10 min so 8 oz over an hour is not really all that bad. Just sip, Don't sip to the point of being uncomfortable. You do need your Protein and your liquids, but just sip slowly. Every day should be easier where you can take bigger sips.
