Greek Yogurt and Cottage Cheese???
Oregondaisy replied to ashleyc's topic in Regular foods (stage 4)
Try mixing plain Greek yogurt with Jello sf cheese cake pudding. It's delicious. I like banana pudding too. Chobonis Greek yogurt is the very best. It's so smooth and creamy! -
Recovery Question
Oregondaisy replied to HelloKitty's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you're going to be in the hospital for the first night, you will be fine! The first 24 hours were the only time I felt like i needed to be in the hospital, but Dr. Aceves keeps us 3 days. I was fine to travel home from Mexico alone. -
I think I eat pretty normally. I can eat most of half of a sandwich if I remove part of the bread. I normally don't eat bread though. There are days where I can hardly eat. A few bites and I am full . There are other days, I feel I can eat way too much. It's weird. Restriction seems to change. I am single so I eat out a lot. If I eat a salad before my meal, I can't eat much of the meat. It's okay though, because I need the veggies sometimes! I still drink Protein drinks and there are many that I love. I tried to get off my ppi. I tried for 6 months. I finally started taking it every other day because the heartburn was not making me happy. Every other day seems to work fine. I really don't get hungry unless I over indulge in carbs. Carbs do make me hungrier. If you have any other questions, just ask. I am in the chat room a lot in the evenings too.

:hurray: Two years ago today I got 85% of my stomach removed and I have never been happier. I love that for the most part I have maintained my weight loss for over a year. I did gain a few lbs over the Christmas holidays and it was not easy taking it off. What a lesson! It showed me that as we get farther out, it's easy to slip up and not so easy to take it back off. My sleeve keeps me from over eating most of the time so if I follow the rules and eat my Protein first, I rarely have room for dessert. I read a study that said that it's common to put on 20 lbs by 5 years post op but I plan on not having any part of that!

Now that it's been over 2 years since I had my surgery, I don't have to chew nearly as much as I did when I did for most of the first year. I know which foods take extra chewing too.

Some ???'s for those of you sleeved in Mexico...
Oregondaisy replied to MissJ482's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I would not even consider any other Dr. besides Dr. Aceves due to his extremely low complication rates. You can read about him and his experience in the doctor section or you can pm me and I will email all his credentials to you. I felt extremely safe in Mexicali. I was very bored in my room so I took frequent walks outside all around the neighborhood of the hospital. Everyone was very friendly. There is a reason he is the surgeon of over half of this board. -
Poweraide Zero comes in all sorts of flavors.

Can anyone describe the feeling of restriction?
Oregondaisy replied to Roudoudou's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The first time I ate too much, I felt like I was going to explode for about 2 hours. It was so painful that I quickly learned it was a feeling to be avoided at all cost. I learned to stop before I am full, because in 20 minutes, my stomach would be even more full . -
maybe you just had a a touch of a bug? I have had days where I felt like you described but it just went away on its own. I just thought it was some sort of virus.

My Gastric Sleeve Journey What A Nightmare
Oregondaisy replied to gabi74's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am so sorry to hear about all that you have gone through. There are people on this board who have had leaks but it's not many compared to the majority of us who have had very successful surgeries. I hope and pray that you recover and get well soon. -
When the surgery removes the ghrelin, (sp?) your mind is not on food all the time. If you try to eat too much, it will be quite painful. It would probably be a good idea for you to try to get some counseling regarding your eating issues. The surgery will fix your stomach, and not your brain. We have had some people become extremely depressed because they can't eat the amount of food they want to eat.

Official Ongoing Gastric Sleeve Maintenance Thread
Oregondaisy replied to Oregondaisy's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
I am glad to hear the update! I hate bras. I am barely an A now so it's really hard to find one I like. The little A bras are for little kids and they barely have any sides on them. I really like the Calcium citrate capsules that Pumpkin was talking about. I love the chocolate chews I get from bariatric advantage, but I don't like the sugar alcohol in them, so I get the rest of my calcium from the capsules. I get them at vitacost too. Vitacost is so great. You can get so much stuff there for much less money. I get my protein shakes and protein bars there as well as biotin shampoo! Free shipping if it's over $49 otherwise 4.99 shipping no matter what you order. -
I want to be Tiffykins brain.. I'm so lost :(
Oregondaisy replied to Starry's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is perfectly fine to stay on liquids or mushie foods longer than you're told to. I lived on very soupy chicken salad and protein shakes for months longer than I was told to because solid food just did not work. -
Do you still enjoy food?
Oregondaisy replied to sasicas's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 2 years out and i wish I did not enjoy eating as much as I did. I remember in the beginning for the first 6 months or so, eating seemed like such chore, I would rather just make a Protein drink. I enjoy eating out, and I enjoy the leftovers. I'm single, so I love being able to go out to eat and bring home enough food for another 3 meals. I eat with people all the time who don't know I had surgery and it's not a problem. I love having a tiny appetite. I am never hungry, but I enjoy eating when I know it's mealtime ! I agree with Tiffy. This too shall pass! -
9 months out and I am STARVING!!!!
Oregondaisy replied to bandtoVSG's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
If you can eat a whole sandwich, your doctor must have given you a pretty big sleeve . I am 2 years out and there is no way I could eat a whole sandwich I don't think you can put a band on sleeved stomach. You probably do need to track your calories on something like my fitness pal to see how many carbs and calories you're taking in. A lot of people can't lose weight if their carbs are over 30. As far as your exercise goes, your body does get used to doing the same type of exercise. Sometimes I vary my exercise and I will do 15 minutes on the elliptial with varying levels of intensity, then alternate between walking fast on an incline and jogging on the treadmill for 15 min. and then do 15 min on the stair master. -
Help... Dumping???
Oregondaisy replied to finallyformyself's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have had dumping syndrome and I asked Dr. Aceves about it. It is not true that sleevers don't dump. He said certain people do react that way due to too much sugar or fat being dumped into the blood stream too fast due to our stomachs being too tiny. I get it if I eat something that is both high in fat and high in sugar. The first time I got it from a tiny piece of wedding cake. It is okay to put that stuff in your Protein drinks if your doctor has not advised you that you need to be on Clear liquids. -
To Go or Not to Go Back to the ER
Oregondaisy replied to Erin92's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Erin you need to go back to the ER. A stricture is nothing to mess with. Your family is right. You need to be seen by a doctor right away. You probably also need to let your work know that you have complications and will not be able to come back to work yet. -

8 months out & stalled. Can I make my goal weight?
Oregondaisy replied to susieq's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you eating a lot of carbs? Are you exercising? There is no possible way I would have ever gotten to goal without exercise. I know there are some people who have been able to take off a lot of weight without any exercise, but it sure gets things going again if you do both strength training and cardio -
Official Ongoing Gastric Sleeve Maintenance Thread
Oregondaisy replied to Oregondaisy's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
I finally got that extra few lbs off. It took logging in my food at my fitness pal to see where my calories were wrong and lots and lots of cardio. It feels good to have gotten rid of the carb monster and I am not craving sweets at least. It's very easy to put on 3 lbs if I have a weekend of social gatherings where goodies will be served. It's still hard to say no to brownies which are about my most favorite things. It seems like there is junk food everywhere all the time. It takes a lot of willpower whether I am sleeved or not. -
Places to get liquid protein samples
Oregondaisy replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Just go to the thread where it says to order samples. It's really best to get samples first of anything you are able to try. Right now I am pretty stuck on Gaspari MyoFusion Peanut Butter and chocolate. -
every swallow and every sip
Oregondaisy replied to rylie19805's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
"others around here don't really understand the change and how hard it is." I can't imagine anyone not remembering the post op diet and the first few weeks after surgery. There are a lot of things you can drink besides Water. Some people say water seems to hurt more than crystal lite sf gatoraide, sf poweraide, etc. I had to drink everything warm or at room temperature. Cold things bothered and still do bother my stomach. Every day should get easier. You may want to check out the food thread for places to order different samples of Protein drinks, and the huge list of Protein Drink recipes to jazz them up. -
8 months Post op -- 122 lbs gone!
Oregondaisy replied to juliarh's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I asked on your video but maybe you will answer here faster. What is the name (brand) of the high Fiber crackers you were talking about? congrats on rocking your sleeve and losing 122 lbs in 8 months. You'll be at goal before you know it! I read your post that you were in the chat room. I hope to find you in there sometime! -
I was dong great, then I blew it!
Oregondaisy replied to warrior68's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The only way to get rid of cravings and get off the junk food is to go carb free. You will feel better. It's hard for the first few days, but then it's like you forget all about all the bad stuff. Eat your Protein only and you can get back on tract.
