Appetite suppressants (prescribed) 2 years out...
Oregondaisy replied to McButterpants's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
i went to my band doctor because I had my sleeve in MX and got phentermine. That stuff works great. I can't take it often though because I know he would not give it to me often. It's going to be a big help though. I took one on superbowl Sunday and had to force myself to drink a protein drink. -
How was your 5:2 day today?
Oregondaisy replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sheryl, I guess I didn't realize you had work done on your thigh as well. I thought you just had to have your breast implants worked on. I hope you're feeling much better. That's really disappointing news about your doctor. I decided to try to meet someone again so I have dates set up for tomorrow and Wed. I've talked to both of them on the phone. They both seem nice but neither of them had good pictures on their profile. I need to be open minded and not focus so much on looks. They both live an hour from me, in another coastal small town. Both from CA. People from CA are moving here like crazy because house prices are so much less. It would be really nice if either of them turn out to be dateable. I just get so lonely. I'm really worried I am not going to be able to lose weight. I did really well yesterday. It could have been called a fast. I just wasn't hungry and had a Protein Shake and during super bowl I had a couple pieces of summer sausage. I weighed the same this morning. I did another fast today and that scale had better start moving. -
I'm pretty good friends with people I've met online or dated having met the regular way. I've met some good people, just not suitable for me. I try to stay friends with exes if possible. I'm having dinner with one of my exes this week. I've never had anyone mention skin to me. I've had to tell about my surgery if we ate many meals together. They always said the same thing which was they were glad I lost weight, because they wouldn't have gone out with me if I weighed 100 lbs more. They never asked if it stretched my skin, or anything along those lines. I am sure they think anyone who is even willing to get naked at 63 is a big plus for them.

If this wasn't so pathetic it would be hilarious
Oregondaisy replied to Sharon1964's topic in The Lounge
I don't have a problem at all seeing more than one guy at a time. I have a big problem with sleeping with more than one at a time. Dating is just that. Someone asks you out on a date, you decide if you want to go or not. It takes a long time to figure out if the person is someone who really is a match. Like CG Jane said, it took 3 or 4 months to decide she didn't want to spend time with guys whom she thought in the beginning might have potential. guys aren't as anxious to get me into bed anymore, cause in my age group, they all have ED. I have a date tomorrow and one Wed. I opened my profile at senior people meet and ok cupid. Now I just have some good stories to tell. I already have one. I talked to this guy on the phone and he looked cute in his picture. During our conversation, he mentioned he had no teeth, but he plans to get dentures some day. -

I'm down in the dumps myself. I don't even have a good reason. I just woke up feeling really depressed. Sheryl, sorry to hear about your thigh. I hope you don't have to be on bedrest too long! Coops I hope you have a great time in Florida. The weather will probably be beautiful. -
OK Ladies, kinda embarrasing question for you all

I had a catheter and I didn't shave, and they didn't shave me. That is not where they're doing surgery. All the incisions are above the belly button. -
Protein shake-need help!
Oregondaisy replied to 4shiggles's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
People say things they loved before surgery they can't stomach after surgery, so I would make sure you don't buy too much of anything until you're sure you really like it, after surgery. Slim fast now has low carb high Protein shakes that aren't too bad. The Premier from Costco is the most popular. -
Early 2016 - what are you streaming on netflix, amazon etc?
Oregondaisy replied to CowgirlJane's topic in The Lounge
I'm going to watch Better Call Saul again. I watched it on regular tv and just ffed through all the commercials. I am hung up on the Sopranos right now. I have the DVDs. I loved Nurse Jackie and I wanted to watch her again in the Sopranos. It's amazing how she went straight from mafia wife to nurse with a complete different personality. 7 years on each show, back to back. She's a great actress. I am going to ck out Jane the Virgin. I've been wondering about it and now it got a good review on here. I have amazon prime but I've never turned it on. I need to do that. -
How was your 5:2 day today?
Oregondaisy replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I've lost 5 lbs since Christmas which is the 5 lbs I gained right after Christmas when I was given this huge basket of goodies. I gave most of it away, but I did have a huge binge that caused the 5 lb gain. I did really well fasting. Once I get going, I am not hungry and it's pretty easy to tell myself not to eat. I made a chicken vegetable Soup awhile ago with all sorts of bell peppers, yellow green and red, chicken breast and whatever veggies are low carb. I have a recipe I got from a friend and she lost 100 lbs before wls eating this soup several times a week for dinner. Went to the surgeon who did my band surgery cause i have terrible acid problems. He's going to do a scope down my stomach and will be able to tell me how much it's stretched. I'm still having a hard time motivating myself to exercise. I really want to build muscle again, but apparently not enough to force myself to get to the gym more than 2-3 times a week. I used to go at least 4-5 times a week before back surgery. Sheryl that picture is really cute. You ARE a very attractive woman. I wish I knew how to take a selfie. I'm not very coordinated. -

I'm doing Mondays and Thursdays too. I am a little worried because of my back fusion. I'm not supposed to diet. I have to though. I put on a favorite sweatshirt and it looked horrible. I looked pregnant. I'm going to try to eat a lot of vegetables. My diet is totally lacking vegetables most of the time. Hope you're feeling better Sheryl. I wish I could take Welbutrin. I'm sure I would feel better if I could. I'm sure you're right about the late eating. I just saw something on tv about that being the cause of weight gain in America. I just need to eat my 3 small meals and not snack. Coops you need to find another doctor. I'm still on HRT and my doctor really feels like I need to stay on it since my bone scan shows the beginning of osteoporosis. There are bioidentical hormones that are not as risky as the Premerin of the past which was made from horse urine. disgusting. Mine are made at a compounding pharmacy just for me. I'd find a different doctor for sure. I'm sure you'll have a great time at Disney. It's the happiest place on earth, after all. (their advertisements) I wish I could come to florida and meet you! -
No Straws After Gastric Sleeve Surgery...
Oregondaisy replied to gfawcetti's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's ridiculous that doctors are still telling their patients no straws. My broth and all my liquids in the hospital came with a straw. Certainly my surgeon didn't ever say straws were any kind of issue. I've been using straws since day 1 with no troubles. I drink better with a straw and I need to keep my fluids up. Without a straw, I'd have a lot more trouble. -
Over 60 and having the sleeve
Oregondaisy replied to ginnylee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@Oregondaisy is that like "where have all the flowers gone"? ok bud here i am, here i am!! still healthy and happy for the past 4 years!!! YOU should show yourself more always love to see you how is your back, and all that other stuff feeling?? (do you notice i am using LOTS less emoticons??) see you around the neighborhood kathy I'm around quite a bit. I like the lounge and powder room, the new venus and mars group. Right I am really battling the gain from the holidays. I'm glad the sleeve allows me to eat practically nothing because I'm not hungry. I'm doing the 5:2 diet again where you only eat 500 calories 2x per week. I did notice you're using many less emoticons! -

Oregondaisy replied to CowgirlJane's topic in The Lounge
Thanks so much Cowgirl Jane for bringing this thread to my attention! I loved Californication on Netflix. It's about an author and his gf/wife and their daughter. He's kind of a manwhore. I also loved Parenthood which is about a family of 4 adult children, their parents and their kids. I loved Nurse Jackie too. Meet the Patels is a very funny movie. It's even funnier if you have friends born in India or have parents born there. I have a friend who is married to an Indian and they go to India twice a year, and her inlaws come from India and stay 6 weeks once a year. I could really relate to the move from knowing these people. -

I do see a psychologist. She never has any answers for me. Learn to be happy and love yourself, she says. Easier said than done. I wish I could take an antidepressant but every one I've tried causes horrendous side effects. I do feel better since forcing myself to go to the gym. I just need to learn to live with the fact that I may never have a satisfying relationship. -

Oregondaisy replied to Sharon1964's topic in The Lounge
I've been meeting guys online for nearly 10 years. I did have some relationships with guys I met there. Two lasted 3 years, and one a year. The first two didn't last because they had money problems. The one that lasted a year is a great guy. We just have nothing in common. We are still friends. I did correspond with many, many losers too. I had the same experience with E Harmony sending me people who lived across the country. I keep my profile on POF and OK Cupid hidden and do some searching when I am in the mood. I live in the middle of nowhere, so unless I want to move, there is nobody for me, at least not right now. Maybe somebody new will sign up. Right now I am just enjoying my friends and trying not to worry that I'll be alone the rest of my life. -

Oregondaisy replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Boy, Sheryl, you have been through a lot. I hope your healing and recovery go well, and you're able to get rest once you get home too. You're very brave to go down there alone, and not know what the outcome is going to be. Hope you're feeling better soon. I'm having a hard time staying motivated. I wish I could sleep all day sometimes. I did 2 really good workouts this week, but today I am sore. It was very easy to talk myself out of going to the gym. Last night, my back really hurt so I guess I was doing too much. I can't seem to pick anything on Netflix. I loved Nurse jackie and finished i quickly. What are you watching , Sheryl? Meet the Patels was funny. I have some Indian friends. -

OMG How could anyone be pro Trump? He's filed bankruptcy like 5 times. How would he manage the country? I'm not political at all but this seems like insanity to me. Coops we can cheer each other on. I'm trying really hard to do 5:2 as well. I was up at my highest weight since losing with the sleeve. My Son in law gave me this huge basket of junk food that his company was giving out at Christmas. I gave most of it away, but did go on about a 4 day binge first. I'm also back to the gym, but it's a lot harder now starting from scratch. I didn't go for a year, so it's going to take a long time to get to where I was. I hope it helps with my depression. I definitely feel better when I exercise. I'm definitely taking a break from dating. I hang out a lot with my guy friend John and he's funny and upbeat. I look at profiles online, but unless I'm willing to relocate, there is nothing here for me. Plus truthfully, I am tired of men my in my age group thinking they can have sex, and it's just work cause they have ED. They think they can do it, but they can't and it becomes an issue. I'd like some guy to just admit he can't do it anymore. Cathy, I hope your hubby finds a new job quickly. That would be stressful news. Sheryl I hope you're having beautiful weather down there in MX. I am so sick of winter. Have you heard from your friend who was going off the deep end? When are you coming home? Speaking of which, I wish we would hear from Florinda. She was really very depressed when she last posted. -

So glad to hear from everyone! More from me later too... -
I'm still here. It's good to see you. I thought you were definitely gone for good. I've had 3 back surgeries this past year so it's been challenging for me.I was not given the go ahead to exercise again until the beginning of Dec. Exercise is really important for my moods, so it's been depressing. I gained back 10 lbs but it feels more like 25. Losing muscle has made a huge difference in how I look and how my clothes fit. Also, my relationship broke up and dating is very discouraging. I'm trying to stay upbeat and going back to the gym this week has really improved my mood. I tried to start 5:2 this week, but was lousy at fasting. I want to do it again, since I had so much success with it before. It's really good to hear from you and I'm really glad to hear you're doing well in maintenance and in your life!

Power Crunch bars are great. They have 13 grams of Protein and 10 carbs. 10 carbs is a lot if you're really trying to go low carb. They are made with Stevia so there is no sugar alcohol which gives me terrible gas. I get mine at vitacost.com because it comes out way cheaper. I also buy them at walmart. Vitacost carries so many things, for anyone who has not heard of it.I get my Protein powder there, and many supplements. If you order over $49 the shipping is free. I can get you a coupon for $10 off your first order if you send me a pm. They carry so much stuff, it's unreal. Their prices are also very good.

Appetite suppressants (prescribed) 2 years out...
Oregondaisy replied to McButterpants's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
I wish I could get a hold of some appetite suppressants. I would not use them every day. I would use them when I knew there would be temptations around. I hate it when I do so well all week long, then I have some social engagement where I know there will be a ton of food. It's always a table full of everything I love. I end up gaining 2 lbs, but it takes the entire next week to lose that. It's a vicious circle. I had some herbs Mau Hung, which worked great, but they have been taken off the market. It was wonderful having something around when I knew I would need a little extra help. -

When I went through menopause, I didn't have a period for a year. Then, a year to the date of the last one, I had my actual last one. I think it's common to go months and then have one. I am not sure where you are in this menopause. I'm really glad you're back! Kim you're so brave to ride that bike alone. I love being on the back of one, but I wouldn't even consider riding one myself. I would freak! i'm trying to be good. No snacking. I had to go to a birthday dinner yesterday which screwed me up. I ended up having cheesy bread with everyone else, but had a shrimp salad for dinner. I want under 145 badly! I'm happy to back to the gym though. I just read in a fitness magazine I need to do 60 min of cardio not 30. grrr. I love the weight lifting , the cardio, not so much. Where in the heck is Florinda Hmmm -
Weight Gained Since Having Gastric Sleeve Surgery
Oregondaisy replied to sleeve 4 me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I am being bad, I'll have a WW fudesicle,100 calorie pack of cocoa dusted almonds, a sf pudding, etc . You get it. Anything and everything. Right now I am trying really hard to take the regain off, so I'm remembering not being able to get my pants up when I think about eating in the evenings. -

Weight Gained Since Having Gastric Sleeve Surgery
Oregondaisy replied to sleeve 4 me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am sure I gained weight for all of the reasons that you mentioned. It's so easy to just join right in and eat when everyone else is eating junk. There are days when I am tired of it all, like Rosey mentioned, and I just don't care. I want to eat what I want. Then there are those 100 calorie packs. I can start in the evening with one of the planned Snacks and go right on all evening long eating one thing after another.
