I drink Miralax every day. It's great stuff. Keeps everything running smoothly. It's not fun when I forget to drink it.

List of foods that you can eat when fully healed

I eat salad all the time. it's one of the easiest things for me to eat. I usually chop up chicken breast and mix it in. yum yum! I eat anything I want. I really mean anything! There is no food that I have trouble with.

    Stupid Hunger Question

You could very well be hungry because it takes awhile for the hunger hormones to completely leave your body after surgery. I was hungry and I had to drink cons.tantly until I moved to mushies

    Where are the 50s ???

I am amazed that with all the weight I've lost, I really don't have much of a skin problem. I don't like the way my arms look, but I can live with that. My turkey neck was something I could not handle so I went to Mexico and had a face lift. I had that done in May, and I'm still not sure how I feel about it. My face and neck look 100% better, but I did not know that I would have this numbness and I hope it goes away.

    Need help choosing a DR....

I have a lot of information about Dr. Aceves and all of his credentials. It should be in the surgeon forum but if you can't find it, I can email it to you. Just send me a message with your email address.
  7. I had an upper GI in Mexical at the same hospital Dr. Aceves did my sleeve. I went there for my face lift in May. I was right at 2 years post op and I wanted to know how my sleeve looked after a couple of years. Dr. Campos could tell me that my sleeve holds 3-4 oz of food. The cost for that was $30. If I had done that here locally, it would have been hundreds of dollars. I never even considered having it done here because of the cost.

    Missing eating

It is very rare that I miss food. I am so full, I have no desire to eat. Eating in between meals is another story. They operate on our stomachs and not our brains. In the beginning, you can hardly eat and eating is a struggle. That's the time to make good habits that will last you past the honeymoon period. Trust the surgery. When the hunger hormone is removed, it makes all the difference in the world. There is an old saying around the WLS boards "Nothing tastes as good as thin feels" It's true. My sleeve is the most wonderful tool and missing a little food is a small price to pay.

    My 11th Month Sleeversary Update

You ARE amazing Irene! I am so glad you are here on sleevetalk now instead of struggling away with that band. I am also really glad you went to Dr. Aceves . I know the first doctor you had in mind is a really good doctor but so is Dr. Aceves and every dollar counts when you are a self pay! I stick around here because there are so many new people all the time. I know a lot of people no longer post after about one year post op . Life gets really busy when we're out enjoying life instead of sitting home wishing we were thinner. I know YOU won't be one of those people who stop giving encouragement to new people because YOU ROCK!
  11. I was 2 years post op at the end of April. I go up and down 5 lbs depending on if I am going out to a lot of social gatherings where there are Desserts that i can't resist. Sweets are my downfall. I keep them out of the house. For the most part, it's easy to stay at goal.
  12. I'd like to know where the comments are that the emails tell me I have!

  13. You will love dr. aceves and all his staff!

    sex after surgery

As soon as you feel ready and most people say it's only about a week. There are positions that you don't have to put pressure on the stomach at all.

    Dating After the Sleeve

Don't worry. When you find the person you are meant to be with , he is not going to care about loose skin. I post a lot on the singles board on OH and everyone talks about this issue. The ones that have found bfs say their bfs don't care at all. Losing weight is going to open up a whole new world so enjoy the ride!

    Where are the 50s ???

I can't believe that I am going to be 59 this October. I am so happy I will be celebrating that birthday at this weight rather than fat like I was all the years !

    Vitamin Question

I take 1500 mg of calcium citrate in 500 divided doses. Your body can't absorb more than 500 at a time. I take a multi and vit d 3. Everyone should have their vit d 3 checked. Most people are deficient. I also take a b complex and a b12 sublingual once a week, and Iron. There are a lot of sleeve patients who become anemic and I am one of those.
  18. The RNY is a much more complicated surgery. If any surgeon has done a lot of gastric bypass (RNY) they are more than capable of doing a sleeve. It's the staple line that is important and the would have done many staple lines if they have been doing gastric bypass for years.
  19. Your story sounds identical to mine. Just get that band out! I hope your insurance covers sleeve surgery because life with the sleeve and the band are like night and day. I can eat anything I want and I have been maintaining my weight loss for over a year. This was the best thing I have ever done for myself.

I eat the ones from Costco occasionally. I used to eat them all the time but then I tried the Oh Yeah bars. I love them. I get them from vitacost.com

    BIG secret... good or bad?

I told my kids and my best friend who was getting sleeved a week after me. I just told people ( everyone knows I work out all the time) that my exercising and eating right was finally paying off !
  23. Tiffy I am so happy your little miracle Tatum and you are doing so well. I can't wait to see her. I hope these next 3 months just fly by for you!
  24. I keep getting emails that there are new comments here, but I can't find them! frustrating!
