Lots of sizes available
Oregondaisy replied to Oregondaisy's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I live in Oregon. -
I went to a wedding shower tonight and nobody guessed. They all said I looked good and looked like I had lost some weight in my face.It felt good after being fat for so long and now feeling good about myself. I LOVE MY SLEEVE!

A lot of people have been asking to see a picture of me after my face lift. I am really computer illiterate so I asked Little Miss Diva to post it. I don't have any "before" pictures. I was really good at hiding from the camera when I was fat, so I guess that was still the case even after I lost the weight. So, the picture will be here as soon as Diva posts it.

where do you fit your protein in? how do you get calories?
Oregondaisy replied to MeMeMEEE's topic in Food and Nutrition
Get some Pro pudding by Body tech. It's delicious and has 25 grams for Protein, 4 carbs and 140 calories. You can get it at Vitamin shoppe or order it from Amazon.com You can blend in cottage cheese in tomato Soup or another soup of your choice. Go to the recipe section and look for the recipe for Ricotta Bake. It's really good. you can make meat balls and smash them up . you can put a little sauce on them if you need them soupy. There are a lot of things you can do to get in your protein. sip on crystal lite or sf Hawaiian punch, etc. -
5 Day Pouch Test - have you tried it?
Oregondaisy replied to TwoStepsBack's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can do the 5 day pouch test. It's pretty easy for me. I love Protein drinks. You're not on them the whole 5 days. It's getting back to basics and it will cut carb cravings very quickly. I don't do it often but if I needed to do it if I had a gain, I would do it. -
There are a lot of ways that don't cause discomfort. There is no reason to wait if you aren't uncomfortable.

How long before it stops !!!!
Oregondaisy replied to ER New's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It usually starts at about 4 months. I started taking Biotin before I had lap band surgery. I took it the entire time and i am still taking it. I don't think it does anything, but I am afraid to stop taking it. I lost a lot of hair with lap band surgery and then lost it again when I had my revision. I was taking Biotin and hair and nails Vitamins the entire time. I also used Nioxin Shampoo. -
How long before it stops !!!!
Oregondaisy replied to ER New's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine stopped at about one year post op. It slowed down at about 9 months but was still falling out. -
Congratulations! I am so excited for you! BTW, my boss had twins at the age of 50 and turned 51 about a month later.

Stay away from raw veggies and nuts at this point for awhile longer. Soft meat and fish work well at this stage as well as soft cheeses and yogurt.

Please help 1 month out and starting to have issues
Oregondaisy replied to Dadams2102008's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Things should be getting better every day. It's time to call the dr. to find out what's going on! -
Yes, Dr. Aceves did recommend him. he is very sweet. I really liked him and he is an excellent surgeon too! Thanks for all the compliments. It was my neck that was driving me crazy and I am glad to have my turkey neck gone.

The Sleeve That Almost Wasn't...Was!
Oregondaisy replied to sarahh1828's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Do you have Isopure or anything like that? The Syntrex nectar drinks are good too. I think they have 25 grams of protein and come in lots of flavors. Look on the food forum for the place to order samples of protein drinks, The Isopure and Nectar are thin for the early stages and there are tons more for later on. -

Dr. Aceves or Dr. Alvarez....advise?
Oregondaisy replied to Ellie4me's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
After I read all of Dr. Aceves' qqualifications and talked to some people who had their surgery there, my mind was made up that he is the best possible surgeon for anyone who is a self pay and has to leave the country. The hospital is a trauma center and you are there for 3 days. If there are going to be complications, I would not have wanted to be anywhere else, or under anyone else's care other than Dr. Aceves. I was pretty certain that there would be no complications though, because his complication rate is extremely low. -
Dr aceves mushies question
Oregondaisy replied to HDubSleevery's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Yes, soft white fish is considered a mushie. -
Thanks so much. I am pretty happy for being 59 in a little over a month. The sleeve is the GREATEST thing!

Does anyone have days where drinking water is really hard?
Oregondaisy replied to ava2011's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've heard the PH level in water is hard on our new tummies. I can drink bottled water much easier. I still have to drink it at room temp even though I am past 2 years. Anything really cold is hard for me to drink and hurts. -
Low/Moderate Carb Experts - would like your advice
Oregondaisy replied to CowgirlJane's topic in Food and Nutrition
Get yourself a little carb counter. They come in pocket size. There are carbs in things you wouldn't think of, like veggies. If you eat green veggies and not carrots potatoes peas or corn, you will be eating low carb. The small amounts of carbs in green veggies . I never worried about using the strips, but I tried to keep my carbs around 30-40 and that has always worked for me. After about 3 days of eating low carb, cravings go away. There are low carb web sites and recipe sites and OH has an Atkins low carb board. If you lose weight before surgery, your liver will shrink. -
If you like Atkins shakes...
Oregondaisy replied to dramagirl28's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think for a little while they were thicker but they seem to have corrected the problem. The recent posts say that it's back to the say it was before. Most people do love the premier drinks. I just bought a new box. They are nice to keep at my bf's house because he seems to eat more carbs than anything else. -
My Plastics Journey - My first one (of several)
Oregondaisy replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
You look great Irene! I am so jealous. I was never big to begin with, but I am smaller now than I was in H.S. even though in H.S. I weighed about 20 lbs less than I do now. I am too chicken to get implants though especially after my plastic surgeon told me there is a good chance I would lose nipple sensation. So I am stuck with an A cup now. That tingling that you're feeling is maddening. I am now 3 1/2 months post op from my face lift and I still get jabbing and tingling all day long. I still have no feeling in my face around my jaw bone. I have a friend who had a face lift a few years ago, and said the feeling never came back. -
How bad is the hair loss??
Oregondaisy replied to NewLife2011's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I took 5,000 mg of Biotin twice daily and still lost half my hair. I also got in all my Protein from day one. It's growing back, but I still have very thin hair now, and I used to have very thick hair. -
Confusing post op info!!
Oregondaisy replied to itscometothis's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
The sleeve will help you with your portion sizes once you get into maintenance. If you graze, you will gain weight. You can snack on things all day long, every few hours. So to answer your question, yes, the sleeve will help you not to gain it all back. You have to do your part too though, because eating Cookies, chips, etc will cause you to gain a lot of weight back. Those things go down like there is no sleeve after awhile. -
Anyone know any homeopatic ways to ward off UTI. I've had to take an antibiotic before sex for years now and they aren't working anymore. Have had several recent UTIs followed by a yeast infection. It was suggested on another board to use lube and that would cut down on UTI. I have been under the care of a urologist for years now but I still have problems. I am going to try D Mannose Has anyone heard of it? I've heard of women having luck using that. It's very expensive though. It's supposed to make it so bacteria can't stick. Gawd I hope so . I hope the the other board's suggestion of more lube helps. Maybe if it's slippery enough, bacteria can't stick l I am willing to try anything!
