    Engagement is over

Everybody stalls because our bodies just don't like to give up the weight. After your body gets used to its new weight for awhile, it will give up some more. It's just the way it is.

I Have A Leak In My Gastric Sleeve!

yes I am so glad you got a hold of your doctor. I am sure it's rare to have a leak at 2 1/2 months so it's a good thing it was caught. I am sure you're on the road to recovery now. Keep us posted.
  3. The no drinking while eating is not going to change though. It's too hard to fit liquids in there with the tiny stomach at the same time as solids. They say it will stretch your stomach but I find I just don't have room. I will usually take one sip after I am all done eating,
  4. If you can afford to self pay and go to Mexico, go for it. There is no sense in spending your life on the diet roller coaster if this is available to you. I wish I had done it when I was younger. I think people who are able to have WLS at a young age are so lucky!
  5. I am prone to UTIs too so I understand what you're going through. You need to find a temperature that seems to work. I can't drink it really cold. I prefer room temp. Bottled Water works better. There are a lot of people who complain they can't drink water . People say it's the PH balance that does not agree with our tiny tummies. You need to experiment with the temp and whether different brands of bottled water work better for you. I also do better and am able to drink more with a straw. I can't drink cranberry juice either. It's too much acid for my bladder and it makes me feel like I have a UTI when I don't have one.

    Gastric Sleeve Bougie Size?

Dr. Aceves told me the difference between ad 32 and a 36 is about a teaspoon. I was worried at first because I always heard he used a 32, so I asked him when I went back to Mexicali for my face lift in May. I asked him what size he uses because I've heard different things on the boards. He told me he always uses a 36 to leave room for oversewing . I looked on my records he had sent home with me originally, and sure enough it says 32. I certainly would not want it any smaller. At 2 1/2 years post op, I still eat way less than a child's portion.
  7. Honestly, in the beginning it's pretty easy to lose weight. You can barely eat a few bites and you're full. Some people get mad about this because they want to eat more. After a couple of months, you're able to eat more and you try to eat more and it's extremely painful . You feel like your stomach is going to explode. It's easy not to graze then, because you're so full, you don't want more food. After about a year, you're eating pretty normally, You eat small meals and a variety of foods, and you're satisfied. Head hunger can be another story. In the evenings for me, my head starts asking me what there is in the house I can snack on. So yes, it does take some will power. It's nothing like not having the sleeve though. I really feel that this surgery is the only hope for most people who lose weight and also want to keep it off. We all now how to lose weight. It's living life after you've lost most of your weight that gets a little tricky. It's important to learn new habits that first year. This board is so valuable all the steps along the way.

    Why didn't you just listen

I wish they would take that band off the market. It's ridiculous to keep putting it inside people when the majority of us have to have them removed. All for the all mighty dollar.
  9. oh Yeah bars are great. They have 8 carbs and 15 grams of protein. They are like a Kit Kat bar. The peanut butter is so good that I can't live without them.
  10. Oregondaisy

    help!!!!

Yes I do think you need other sources of protein besides shakes. They have all the protein that you need, but they don't stay in your stomach very long. At 8 weeks out, there is a long list of things you can eat with high protein.
  11. Only a couple more weeks now until you see your little sweetheart. I am so happy for you! xoxo

    Hunger & Cravings

I am almost 2 1/2 years out from surgery and really , I am rarely hungry. Head hunger is another story, but luckily I know the difference. If I really keep my carbs low, I don't crave sweets. If I let those nasty carbs into my life, I am usually very sorry. Carbs make me crave sweets. If I keep my carbs under 30 per day, I don't crave sweets.

    Carb Debate (Friendly)

Yes it does take a certain amount of willpower. Sweet things used to make me sick when I was first sleeved but unfortunately that went away. The sleeve is still the greatest thing though. If I eat a nice dinner and get full, I am less likely to want to snack later.
  14. Hey I noticed you said you were going to Bay Bariatrics. Dr. Tersingni did my band surgery ( not his fault that I had to have it removed)

Anyway, I live in coos Bay so if you ever come here for followup, you should get a hold of me! I am 2 1/2 years post sleeve surgery so if you would like to get together if you ever come back here, just let me know!

    One bite too much=nausea?

You have to learn to stop before you're full. It really is true that it takes our brains 20 min to tell our stomachs we are full. I had to learn to eye ball how much I could eat and not eat one bite more or I would be sorry. At that time I could eat one of those tiny little cans of chicken salad. I had to picture the food fitting in that can. That's what worked for me!

    Intersting find

The only difference is the majority of us will not gain our weight back but the majority of GB patients will gain it all back. SAD!

    Women Only Question

I went from a 42 C to a 34 A and believe me, I am not happy about it. It's very hard to find bras that fit now because they are made for teenagers in this size not someone approaching being a senior citizen.

    Carb Debate (Friendly)

It is unfortunate, but it's quite easy to binge with the sleeve. The sleeve makes it impossible to eat big meals with any kind of meat, but you can't even imagine how well bad things like Cookies and candy go right through like there is no sleeve there.
  19. I've never seen strawberry at costco. It's too bad they don' t carry a variety package. I've never tried the vanilla. I would hate to buy a whole box and not like it. The best Protein shakes in my opinion have to be bought online. The premiere are convenient, but it only takes about 10 seconds to dump a scoop into my mini blender add Water and blend for a few seconds. I love Gaspari Myo fusion Peanut Butter and chocolate.

Muscle Milk is thin. I think that the BSN Lean Dessert choc fudge pudding is about the thickest. I like mine thick too, but a lot of people really want them thin after surgery. I have never tried unjury, but you could get samples before buying much of any type of Protein . If you get the pro pudding by body tech at the Vitamin shoppe, and use something like a magic bullet, it gets thick fast . It only comes in choc and vanilla though. I use a couple table spoons of sf pudding to thicken my shakes.

Need Urgent Advice regarding my Sleeve!

I really don't know what to tell you because there is no way I can eat 6 ounces. I can eat 6oz of yogurt, because it's a slider. As far as meat goes, if I eat 3 oz I am so stuffed, I am just miserable. You need to go back to basics and just eat Protein first and veggies if there is room. Stay away from all those white carbs and your cravings for sweets should go away.

    Pyschology Clearance Issue

Yes, be glad you have insurance to cover the surgery. I had to pay for the psych eval when I was going for surgery for the band because the surgeon wanted it, even though I was paying for the surgery out of pocket. I didn't have to have one to have the band removed though!
  23. Oregondaisy

    Carb Debate (Friendly)

it's very simple for me. If I eat carbs, I want more carbs. I can eat good carbs and still crave ice cream and cookies. I do best when I limit my carbs to only carbs from veggies. I don't eat high carb veggies like carrots, either. If I want my cravings to go away, I do best with as few carbs as possible.

    Wrinkles

The thought of having shots in my face ( while I was awake, lol) did not appeal to me. I had a lower eye lift and my face lift was from my eyes down and did not include my forehead. My neck looks really good but it feels really tight. I have pictures in my camera that my surgeon took during surgery and it's nasty! My face is peeled back to the middle of my head.

the BSN lean dessert banana Cream pudding is good. Orange Chike is really good too. You can get all the BSN flavors at vitacost.com. Free shipping if you order over $49. If you like your shakes thick like I do, I add a couple tablespoons of sf instant pudding to my shakes when I want them thicker. Vitamin Shoppe sells Jay Robb. His is a small container for around $30 so I think it's expensive. BSN is like 14.99 The good deal at Vitamin Shoppe is Pro Pudding by body Tech. It's 145 calories 4 carbs and 25 grams of Protein. only choc and vanilla but it's good pudding!
