    Any ideas behind this reasoning...

KU is a little more extensive than most i think. I have a 2 week pre op diet, then after surgery its 4 weeks liquid, 3 weeks pureed, 2-3 weeks soft foods, then regular food. . I also hear on here a lot of food amounts that are more than my hospital recommends. I am only to eat 3/4 cup 3 times a day when I get to my regular food. I have seen some eat 1 1/2 or 2 cups. I think it is different for everyone. i am choosing to TRY to follow my Dr.'s direction to the T as I trust the hospital and surgeon. My surgeon also does the surgery by only making one hole in the belly button which is different. (Only 5 surgeons in the US can do that)

    December Bandsters (Early Xmas present)

How can you not share something that is life altering with your husband? I am not judging but you should definitely be open and honest with everything in a marriage.

Here is the truth about the band

THANK YOU!!!!!! Thanks to all the people who shared their story because I have yet to get the and and honestly when I first read this it freaked me out a little. I am excited and educating myself on every aspect and I know what PB means and slime. I can only imagine having it happen a couple times before you know better. . . I think this site/forum is very helpful and inspiring.

    8 days post op....

I am having mine done in June 11 but I have a person i work with who had lap band and she lost 60 lbs and then slowly gained 40 back. She doesn't go in for fills or follow the rule of protein first then veggie. I have actually seen her pick things purposely to break up and go through the opening. I think if you are not mentally ready this will not work! You have to be able to have a grasp on your emotional eating issues. I have also seen statistics saying 45% of bandsters are not successful. . .

    Some questions I have...Please answer...

Check out some You tube videos from Skymoon. . . she and her husband had issues because he preferred bigger women. . so he felt unattracted as she got down on her numbers, they went through marital counseling. I recommend keeping an open line of communication and asking him questions. I have heard all kinds of bad things that occur in a relationship when all the weight is lost because you do change some. What you like and enjoy doing is different at 300 to 150. This is actually my biggest concern about the process but my husband is very supportive about it and I share everything with him and allow him to question anything about it he wants. Don't get mad if they ask questions we may be insulted about .. . he has good intentions and is just worried usually!!

New Questions from a hopeful bandster.

The water thing. . . You are suppose to sip constantly therefore drinking that much is very doable. . . the first few days my Dr. says to use a medicine cup to drink out of to slow yourself down and to only have 30 mL every 15-30 minutes. Then you can slowly increase. Water will not necessary keep you full because it trickles down to the large part of your stomach quicker than food! Good Luck!
  10. I am not banded yet but I have researched this for two years!! You should call your doctor if you are in that much pain just to make sure also there are other things people have said they take for gas if the bandsters want to share them . . I have also heard that day 3 -5 are the worst then things get better so there is light at the end of the tunnel!! Good Luck!
  11. Hi, My name is Nichole and I am 23(24 when I get banded). I saw you had BCBS of min and they covered a tummy tuck and breast augmentation. What were your requirements? Should I start documenting things now??

    anyone worried it won't work?

I suggest reading Women, food and God by Geneen Roth. . . It is not about "GOD" but about a very general idea of something more. The book did wonders for me. I was such an emotional eater and binger and I no longer do those things because I have worked on the emotional issues. There is a strong connection with food and emotions. I am getting my band done in 6 months bc I still eat my 3 big meals but the emotional side of it is a work in progress but I definitely feel the healing. I am nervous about it failing but but I think if you are willing to commit and work on yourself then you can't fail. We are always a work in progress.
