I've had a weight problem since I was a young boy. I have gotten down to a good weight four or five times in my life, but I always gained it back rapidly. I lost twice using weight-watchers, once using Atkins and once using a "shake" diet. A few years ago I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis. The doctor sent me to physical therapy, and told me to lose 60 pounds. The physical therapy really motivated me and I was able to lose the weight. The symptoms disappeared, the insurance for the physical therapy ran out, and I gained the weight right back. At this point I am too discouraged to be able to lose the weight without some help. The thought of having to get used to a new way of eating scares me, but the prospect of becoming elderly at this weight (if I make it) scares me more. My surgery is scheduled to day before Thanksgiving, so I only miss one day of work.I'm actually looking forward to the 10-day liquid pre-surgery diet, since I think it will give me more energy. The major part of my lapband story is yet to come.
