  1. I am so happy to see this post, now I know I am not crazy because I have gone thru everything you guys have described. I was banded Nov 5 at 193 lbs, been starving since day 5 post op, got my first fill Dec 8 and I have only lost 10 lbs since surgery, Feel like I have very little to no restriction at times. I am trying hard to stick to the diet, but its sooo hard when your little stomach pouch might be somewhat full, but the big one below it is growling with hunger.
  2. I am so grateful for this website and this thread. I don't post often but I do read whenever I get a chance. My first Dr appt I was 205 lbs. On surgery day I was 193 lbs. I am currently 183 lbs and frustrated as heck. I was banded Nov 5. Lost 10 lbs the first week and been yo-yoing up and down between 182-185 for the last 6 weeks. I was starving from day 5 post op. Have had an awesome recovery without any of the most common complications I have read on here. I have been able to eat like pre-surgery the whole time. I had my first fill on Dec 8. I have a 10 band and they put in 4. At first I felt a little bit of restriction, but now I am back to feeling nothing at all and hungry all the time. My next fill is not till Jan 19 and I am so dissapointed with my progress. I have made a concious effort to eat the foods I am supposed to eat.Have completely changed my diet to what I am supposed to be doing, but still no weight loss. I am experiencing a lot of burping and regurgitating. Is this normal? Reading here it seems like I am not the only one dissapointed in the progress but I had hoped to have lost more than 10 lbs in 6 weeks time. Any thoughts? P.S. I just started working out this week as I had foot surgery 4 weeks ago.
  3. I have screwed up royally and need some encouragement to get back on track. I was banded Fri, Nov 5. I am now 9 days post op and I am already starting to eat everything in sight. The first 2 days I could not eat anything. I barely drank water. By day 3, I was starving. I am supposed to be on a pureed diet on weeks 1/2, soft foods weeks 3/4 & regular foods by week 5. Well it all started on day 3 post op. I got hungry and ended up eating some KFC mashed potatoes and gravy. It hit the spot. Next morning I ended up eating one scrambled egg and I ate some more mashed potatoes with pureed chili. Was hungry not too long after I ate it. On day 7 I went to Super Salad and ate lettuce, ham, cheese and egg drenched in low cal ranch and a slice of cantaloupe. All this while taking little sips of water. I felt like my stomach was about to burst but I was satisfied. Yesterday I was aout and about with my daughter all day and I had a baked potatoe and chili from wendy's for lunch and some flounder with mashed potatoes from red lobster. This morning I ate a ham, fat free cheddar cheese omelet. I had lost 10 lbs since surgery day and I gained 5 right back just this weekend. I don't know what to do. I am constantly hungry and I don't know what to do! I am not even supposed to be eating regular food yet!!! While I am happy that my stomach has tolerated all this food this short after surgery, I am concerned with not allowing my stomach enough time to heal and the feeling of being hungry all the time is very unnerving. Any advice?
  4. I was banded Nov 5 and I am now 1 week post op, however, since the day of surgery I have had a constant runny nose with blood. I am blowing my nose all day long. I have no other cold symptoms or anything, just constant bloody mucus in my nose. Is this natural of the post op period?
  5. I was banded on Fri Nov 5th and I have not been able to eat or drink anything but sips of water. The pain has been tolerable with pain medication and Gas X is helping a bit with the gas, but I am hating those little hiccups that make you burp because the make my incisions hurt. I am worried about my lack of nutritional intake, but I am so scared of upsetting my stomach. Any suggestions as to what I can do?
  6. I was banded yesteday. Have discomfort and a little pain in the incisions but that has been just about it... Been sipping on water and feeling good. Burping a little not really feeling any gas pain. Hopefully this will continue and taper off. I am on a pureed diet right off the bat, but I haven't ventured to eat yet. Not really hungry, but sipping water, don't want to get dehydrated.
  7. It's so good to hear from the first few people banded this month... I get banded on Fri, the 5th, I have 1 more day to go and I am excited and scared at the same time. I have been on a clear liquid diet since yesterday, and I am about to climb the walls. I have tomorrow left of clear liquids and I took the day off to see if I can sleep my way through it so I don't have to drink another stinkin' cup of clear broth, popsicles or jello. I have no idea how you guys that have to do it for 2 or 3 weeks prior, can handle it. Oh well... one more day and then I'll be having surgery at 8 am on Friday. Good luck to everyone, and I wish all a successful recovery.
  8. I called the surgeons office and made an appointment to see the nutritionist on Monday for a meal planning session before I start the liquid diet on Tuesday. My surgery is next Friday and I am so anxious to get it done and over with. I hope the nutritionist can help me come up with a menu for at least the first 2 weeks of liquid/pureed foods. I think once I can get the first 2 weeks done, it'll be easier to get into the soft foods for weeks 3/4 and regular foods on week 5 and beyond. Thanks everyone for your replies...
  9. Hello Everyone!! I have been reading this website's posts for the last 2 weeks since having my surgery scheduled for November 5th. But I just joined today. It has been a fast trip from first consultation on Oct 6 to surgery sched for Nov 5th. Luckily for me, I had all (diet, psych & dr.) consultations on same day. Left the office with surg date and they were confident my insurance would approve with no problems. So far, I haven't heard otherwise. My ins pays 100% (BCBS Fed) and I have a $100 copay and that's it. I had not considered surgery until I found out it was covered by my ins. I get my pre op labs done on Tuesday and then I have a 3 day pre op liquid diet before surg. After reading about 2 & 3 weeks preop liquid diets, I am sooo glad I only have 3 days worth. I am excited and terrified at the same time. My biggest concern right now is the food. You see, I don't cook hardly any more and I am very picky about the foods I like or eat. I mostly eat fast foods or restaurant foods anymore. I rarely eat vegetables and probably have the worst eating habits of anyone. For the last 2 weeks I have been trying a variety of things such as pre-made Protein shakes, sugar free stuff, and even yogurt, which i never liked before. I have been pleasantly surprised at their good taste. But I am so used to eating on the go all the time (hence majority of my food being fast food), that I am not sure how I am going to do with having to make my own food to take with me to, like for example, work. I want to have a menu written down for at least the first 2 weeks of pureed foods stage, but I have no idea where or how to start. Any one else have this experience? I welcome any suggestions on how to deal with this.
  10. I went for my first appointment on Oct 6 and had same day social worker, nutritionist eval and nutrition class and saw the Dr and came out with a surg date for Nov 5. I could have had the surgery on Oct 26 but I opted for Nov. 5. I am amazed at how quickly everything is happening, but happy about it because I have a tendency to be a little inpatient.
