  1. The doc said the talking thing is forever. I when I swallow anything, it talks, it has learned to whisper in the recent months as compared to new tummy. Not at 8 months when I eat too much it starts to rocking and rolling. I feel rhythmical rolls of it trying to squeeze food downward. ( Not pleasant) I find no rhymn nor reason to it, but some days I can eat, and eat I do,, all 4 oz then days like today,,, lucky to get a few bites in, and actually want them. With that said I find it very reassuring,,, knowing I can't stuff my self into fatness anymore:)
  2. Good choice! You will be glad you did!

    The Easy Way Out

You could get her in a lot of trouble for her statements to you. She is paid to scan, not preach. With that said, is she worth it? There are different kinds of overweight.. Those of us who have been overweight since childhood, those of us who have been overweight for years, those of who are gained weight as we age,,, ect. It boils down to this.............................. We know what we need to make the WL happen! There is nothing easy about this journey, we have to make and cope with huge changes in addition to having most of our stomachs removed and the discomfort of that. We have to learn all new body cues post surgery. We have to take on exercise we formally did not do. SCREW the all knowing, negative nellies! WE are the BRAVE ones for being willing to take control of ourselves and we need only answer to OURSELVES!
  4. Unless you have other physical conditions you should be free to take what you need post op.

    Only a 1 day pre-op diet???

I think it boils down to this. Some doc want to prep you both mentally and physically for the post op strain of not being able to eat much, Some docs just go by the absolute physician requirements for the surgery to take place.

    How to fix a mistake?

it is OK to let go of the food! I found the need to save food replaced the need to eat it in the beginning.
  7. You will find things go down different at different times. Like 2 days ago I could only eat maybe an ounce of steak, but tonight I put down 2 oz of talapia, an ear of corn and some green beans!
  8. Here I am at 8 months and I am still not able to do rice and NO bread especially bad!

    sooooooooo sad

While I am sure you are disappointed, please do not give up on the surgery, to do so would be giving up on yourself. Now I cannot see any logical doctor not letting you re weigh. A bottle of water weighs a half pound and if you had just drank before going in or it is getting to be your tom then 1/2 pound is just water weight. Surely they would half to have based their decision on something more. Show them how bad you want this, start calling and logically explaining why you think they should not postpone your surgery!
  11. It is like 15 seconds, if that fast! You will find such a sense of relief! The drain is EVIL and must GO!

    I'm scared!

Ok you guys, let me begin this by saying this is the single best thing I have ever done for me! No I did not go to Mexico, but looking back, if I had to do that to make it happen I would! I have gone from 271 POUNDS to 158! I feel soo much better physically! I am riding in Bike marathons and walking daily, with ease I might ad and feeling well, I can not describe the feeling when I have completed 35 miles on the bike or while on the bike or when I plug my earphones in and take that brisk walk for 2 hours! Or when I finish Total body Conditioning at the YMCA or when someone tells how great I look or what and inspiration I am to them! Despite all this it boils down to YOU. Your sub conscious is playing with you, well maybe I could diet one more time and really do it this time,, that thought is safe and comfortable. REALITY: You have a life time of failed diets! You need a tool that will allow you to succeed!
  13. Ok, so this pre op is simply a means to and end! How bad do you want the end? The end being the surgery and subsequent weight loss and health! This is what you keep in the front of your mind when you feel you are struggling and feeling bad! Just imagine 100 lbs from now,, this will all be worth it! Go Sister GO!
  14. Dannon becoming Okios The lid on my Dannon Yogurt announced it. I am kinda bummed since it was nice to have a 99 cent greek yogurt for a while.
  15. Well the containers are starting to say Okios by Dannon.............. so far still 99 cents. We shall see............................

    Spouse or Sig other

I think woman are MUCH more emotional and committed to the vows we made. ( well most woman are). Men in general ,, in general guys! are more physical. I too have to admit I am turned off by his SMELL, by his size, by his grunting and moaning just walking, however with that said I keep thinking about the for better or worse words in my vows and the fact I have one failed marriage. NO I am NOT happy, we have not had sex in months because I am both disgusted and afraid he would have have a heart attack and there I would be stuck there not able to lift him off me. (makes me sick). Don't be fooled, I have often, almost daily have visions of going to live with my daughter and my grand babies and being the full time grandma I desire so. However I then again come back to the fact I made a commitment, I took vows. Yes I know this is winding down do no good. These are things that hold me here, commitment, my Mother in her late years, comfort to my situation. When one of 3 are gone I will go to live the life of a traveling Army family to be a full time Grand Mom. I will miss my in law family, they are great people who have been super supportive. And Yes TIFF,, I am in a 100/0 relationship! For 2 weeks he has claimed to be eating better, but I don't believe him when he is not with me. You should have heard him giving me a guilt trip for wanting to cook last night when he wanted to go out to eat. He claimed he wanted to spend time with me and it was some how more special, I screamed at him we can spend special time any where, what was special to him was the fact it was food out of the house, some where any where in his mind! Then tonight I had to tell him I had a bug and was nauseous THREE times before I started yelling at him I was NOT going out, I took the day off work feeling sick! Then he says to me, what do you want to take out of the freezer for dinner tomorrow! I SCREAMED once again at him " I FEEL SICK< I want to BARF and you want to know WHAT IS FOR DINNER TOMORROW?????" Yeah, I have a real problem on my hands here!
  17. Got back on the bike yesterday 2 weeks post broken foot. Little sore today but totally worth it to see the scale down 1 pound this AM!

  18. Congrats, I know you have nerves. This is normal. Go head strong! All will be fine and soon the scale will be moving downward!

    Slurpee?

I think you could have one now, make small and go slow, oh and get a sugar free one!
  20. I did not see this earlier, but that cycle is sometimes called irritable bowl syndrome. However it is usually longer than a week when you switch, so to speak The diarehha maybe your bodies way of curing the constipation. Do you do well with Benni-Fiber?
  21. I have had my Galbladder out and trust me that WAS PRESSURE building during those attacks. Try the burbing technique along with a sip of a carbonated beverage to assist in burping. One other thing I have read about is esophageal spasm. I had one in the hospital right after surgery and it was very simular to my current pain but WAY more intense! One thing you said is that it always happens at work at lunch,,, one thing I caught on to with eating at work was that I was distracted while eating at work and not only did I not chew enough, I also took into much air while eating because I was talking to others. Once I pulled back and concentrated on the food the times this pain happens to me is far and fewer in between. The one factor I found in dealing with pain,, tensing up and panic makes it worse,,, I walk and I burp and from now on I will grab a drink of diet soda to speed things along! If this technique does not work talk to your doc! I think I read somewhere there is medicine for esophageal spasms!
  22. I have the opposite problem from diarrhea since surgery, thought I have read that many become lactose intolerant after VSG, so maybe??? As far as that pain you described, I get it occasionally too. Is it like a pressure building? Do certain positions seem to make it worse? I have found my pain is trapped air. I found forcing myself to burp really helps. Yesterday i had about a 20 minute episode and burping provided relief for about 20 seconds. Then I grabbed a diet coke and took a drink ( you know you start trying anything to get rid of it) and that did the trick whola! The carbonation in the pop released the trapped air and up came a large burp and then total complete relief!
  23. My allergies actually improved with surgery! Before surgery I had constant post nasal drip and a cough. My nose was running so much they put me on 2 rounds of antibiotics to be safe. After surgery that was gone and has stayed gone for the first time in a couple of years. I have no food allergies that I know of. My theory is the shot they give right before surgery to dry up the mucus membranes was my savior!
  24. Congrats on being brave enough to do this at your young age with a small child! You have made absolutely the best decision of your life besides becoming a mother! Now you will avoid a life full of medical complications and just being too big to fully participate in your childs life! I so wish the sleeve was an option 20 years ago! I feel at 47 I wasted my life being fat. I admire you!
